"There is something therapeutic about tending to your ship and then just moving along slowly through the day. … Not a lot of games are brave enough to tell a story this way, and to me, that’s exactly why FAR: Lone Sails is a gem." 5 / 5 – Platinum Rating

TouchArcade Game of the Week
"There are some games that aren’t really about testing your reflexes, or your high scoring prowess, or any of the many other video game-related skills, but are more about offering up an experience. And boy is FAR: Lone Sails ever an experience. …"
Jared Nelson, toucharcade.com
"A short, intimate and memorable experience … This is one game that’s a must-play for just about anyone."

Community Insight:
Was looking for a game that included some not too complicated puzzles and an immersive gameplay and this fit the bill. Enough of a challenge that some things took us a while to figure out but not so much that we looked up how to do something. The game is beautiful and simple. No instructions you just figure things out. Loved it.
As a cartoonist we do not have a lot of time to play games. We leave one spot open on our main menu for one game. This has that spot. So why is it so great: 1. Supports offline play 2. Atmosphere: without saying or explaining a thing you are just there 3.Imagination: Images are present that bring to mind so many possibilities. It is like a good book. Creating what ifs in your mind. 4. Simple: Again for the time strained this a fun journey that uses basic mechanics, yet somehow feels so open. If there is a sequel, we want a plant for our room. It would be cool to pick up trophies to decorate your bedroom with. Last note: we would love to feature your game in a couple of comic strips. We have never offered this as we are trying to stay a way from pop culture but this feels timeless. Update: found our plant. Spoiler there is one in the game already. Just had to look Update No.2: we have finished the game. We have never been so eager at the end of a game for a sequel or additional content. We love the world they have created. We would be happy playing again just getting to chose color. Your guide color is red..maybe offer a green or blue. Ultimately , in the end this is our current favorite game and the only mobile game we have ever played to finish. Great Job! Far: Changing Tides, would love to see this on iOS.
Everything about this game is truly beautiful.
Fun game. Love the steam punk feel.
We used this game in place of going on social media apps. It was really clever, from the ship functions to the changing environments, and the tornado! Some of the puzzles or challenge points made us have to think a little bit. We wish they were a little bit more challenging, or more points of danger, but the game was very artful and we really enjoyed playing it.
This is a journey. There are no prizes. There is struggle, there is victory. There is joy Surprises Setbacks Overcoming This game reminded us of life we loved it Right to the last sound. Of hope.
Soundtrack is as beautiful as the gameplay.
Played it though in one sitting. Its engrossing, and easy to lose track of time with this one. Really appreciate your detailed work on this one guys.
Its super immersive and tranquil, with moments of excitement. Its honestly a work of art and a breath of fresh air for mobile gaming. Bravo.
Solid gameplay, beautiful music and detailed environments. Captivated us from start to finish, we would absolutely love to see more of it.
We love this game but it was very short, mabye you could maks a second one where you are on a boat or smth. Just an idea.
The game works very well on our Ipad. Beautiful! We hope the author comes out with a sequel. No Zombies Woo Hoo.
Do not regret. The game really draws you in with the spooky atmosphere. Only complaint is the nights are a bit too dark and we accidentally threw our lantern in the incinerator. Ill manage though.
The worst thing about this game is it left us wanting more.
This is our best game we love this we can waiting for a 2 part.
We loved this game! We were looking for a game similar to Limbo, Dead Inside, luckily we landed on this game. Absolutely wonderful. Please make a part 2.
We love the game we played through the entire thing, we hope to see more like this from the developers. The only thing we can say the game was missing is maybe just a setting to change the control size because they are very small and too create an endless game mode where the player has to do their best to not wreck their ship and see how far they can get before it does. That way players could continue playing the game, we see no real reason to attempt the game again now that Ive beaten it :(.
This was a great game. No instructions, just jumping right in and figuring things out. Fun and complex problems to solve but nothing that makes you throw it down out of frustration.
We enjoyed this game so much we were sad to see it end. No instruction, hints or cheats but it allows you to load a previous auto save as you figure it out. Once we started the game it was hard to put it down.
Great way to pass some time. This game will take your heart rate down a notch, which is a nice change. Ive had this game on PC and iPad for a long time. Not sure why we waited to play it. It was worth the wait.
This is a beautiful game, proving that no; we dont need trillions of players competing to enjoy something. The environment is one of a kind, and a Journey reminiscent of Journey(by ThatGameCompany) One of our favorites so far.
We enjoyed played this game , thank you very much.
Atmospheric, great soundtrack, really cool idea with all the engines. Inspiring.
This one of the best games that we played in a while it feels nice the sound track is amazing then how you move though out the game is great.
Such a gorgeous game! Its one of those games that you feel heartsick knowing it will end. We hope there will be a part two.
Its an amazing story of this poor soul who goes and travels through peril and pain, and they try to save their world like hundreds of others tried, but failed, this little soul, all alone, his home destroyed. We wanna cry so bad.
Love this game. The only thing we can say is that we wish there was more games like this one. Check the App Store and couldnt fine anything close to it.
Truly a work of art and the soundtrack is nothing short of a masterpiece. You can actually listen to the soundtrack on Spotify and we highly recommend. Joel Schoch really put a great score together.
We rarely review games, but this game deserves some praise. The art is beautiful, the game is relaxing, the puzzles not overly difficult ( we did get stuck a few times). Al in all, very enjoyable. Running the ship and getting it through the tough spots was very satisfying. Highly recommend that you give the game a shot.
We have never played a mobile game from start to finish until FAR: Lone Sails. This game made us feel like a 10 year old in front of our SNES playing Chrono Trigger, or some other Square adventure of equal awesomeness. The wasteland mood, post-apoc jazz music, the clunky gears, steam-enginery, and the fairly casual gameplay is pretty much perfect, and this is coming from someone who specializes in future/cyberpunk/wasteland ambient music and videos. Its superb. Even felt some strong emotional undercurrents with the intentionally vague but symbolic storyline. Guys, you really have to try this game. Its pure magic. We cant wait to see what comes out of their workshop next. 5 stars. No question about it.
The graphics, the style, the aesthetic, its everything we were looking for. We are sad that it ended so soon, but we would 100% recommended this game! It works your mind, is very interactive, and overall very enjoyable. 10/10.
The game has a story that makes you determined to finish and what a joy it is to play. The way it plays is so peaceful as you get a rhythm to power youre vessel or as you sail along with a great scenery and wonderful music as it unfolds. Puzzles are able to be figured without help yet keep you thinking. The end is satisfying story wise . Hope they make another like it :).
Its really a beautiful game that plays perfect on the ipad-Im a musician and really appreciated the moody backdrop the game provides-perfect amount of action and not too difficult puzzle solving made a really enjoyable game-was sad to see it end.
Love it Beautiful game 10 out of 10.
We have never liked platformers, so this one really took us by surprise. Mechanical puzzle games usually jump the shark at some point trying to be challenging, this one stays true to the environment it created. Music, environment, artwork, all very well done.
This game is absolutely beautiful. When we first saw gameplay we instantly wanted to get this game but we couldnt get it but when we got it months after we saw gameplay. When we started playing it we were in love with this game then we stopped playing for a month and then when we played it again we were hit with so much nostalgia that we didnt want to play so we took along break and finished the game we loved the ending so much that we almost cried and then we read all of the credits and wrote this review it has ad amazing play style and this game is just beautiful. We have ONE request tho can you plz plz plzzzzzzz make a second game. If you could we cry from joy if you didnt we would cry from sadness. And btw thx for no ads.
Very glad we gave this game a try. The first journey feels long and you feel like youre truly on a trek. Highly recommend.
This is one of the most creative and beautiful indie games that we have ever played, we paid 4$ for this, and it was worth it. If you ever have a sequel, we would gladly play it. Perhaps add a sandbox mode? Or endless? Either way, this game has a deep backstory.
Im always looking for games that are truly calming and meditative. This might be the most relaxing game Ive ever played.
We could have played this game forever. Perfect for what it is lonely, steampunk Oregon trail. Too short, though def worth the money. We couldve spent 80 hours just sailing along, rolling up and down hills, letting off steam. Sequel plz.
Yes, its more of a puzzle then a simulation. Very beautiful and challenging enough to keep you fully occupied for few evenings. Also we love how they tell a bit of a story arc in backgrounds. Quite a pity its short, so we really hope for a sequel. We dont play on our Mac anymore, so we had to wait till it comes out for iPhone and iPad. The latter is recommended. The game also supports controller, so if you have one – use it. Controls are no longer small, but the game involves a lot of jumping around, so it can be tricky. Also, a common drawback of games designed for desktop first everything is tiny. Dont forget you can zoom! Pinch with two fingers or use triggers on controller.
We love this game so much. It's essentially a puzzler / resource management game – lots of making sure your vehicle has enough fuel, stowing your stuff, fixing damage – and we love the sense of mastering our situation. But also it's interspersed with long, peaceful stretches of just traveling along under the open sky, and the sunsets & sunrises & snow & rain, with the atmospheric music, somehow just make us so happy. For a postapocalyptic game it's surprisingly lovely. We've played it all the way throigh five times now. Hope there's a sequel.
We found ourselves surprisingly attached to the ship/car/train/boat thing in this gamethere were times when we fell off or it rolled away and we literally yelled nooooooooo…. As we ran after it to save it. And between obstacles when you have a few minutes of flat out full speed running and its chugging along smoothly, its amazing. Like The Road or Inside, theres just enough hint of a story to make you want more. At the end we just wanted to keep going. There were minor issues with controls (we got stuck and had to force quit a few times) and the camera (being able to pan around would be very helpful, and your view ahead when moving fast is way too limited) but not enough to be a real problem. Sequel please.
The game gives no tutorial or hints. You just jump into a beautiful but sad world and learn as you go. You solve puzzles and operate a big steam punk land vehicle regulating fuel and its operations/repair. The game is short but beautiful and very relaxing. We highly recommend.
If you like a captivating adventure, surrounded in a post apocalyptic world that will trigger many emotions, this is the game for you. Its almost like watching a movie where you have some control. Its not an arcarde nor a fast past game. This game is art, and as far as art goes, this is a masterpiece. Without a doubt, the best game we have ever found on the app store. Thank you.
From the start we were pulled into it. Very original and great game with beautiful graphic art and music. We lost our self in it and finished it in one go. It saddened us when it ended and wanted more, more upgrades, more places to visit and more puzzles. If you want to play something unique then dont hesitate to get the game, and enjoy. Thanks for the devs and producers for releasing such a wonderful game, and we hope to see more great works from them in the near future.
This is a game that will make you feel like youve stepped into a post apocalyptic world. There is a certain sense of longing the developers were able to create and make you feel. The music is melancholic and, along with the strange and mechanical sounds, it helps create the atmosphere in a unique way. Very beautiful game and definitely worth the money. We only hope there will be a sequel. Thank you for the experience.
This is a beautifully crafted game that has everything. There is an interesting mechanic to piloting the machine without becoming overly complex. The puzzles are just hard enough. The music and aesthetics are incredible. And the story, as its visually presented, is incredible. We hope there is a sequel.
Perfect? No. But definitely worth it. Challenging? Yes, but easy enough to figure out everything without outside help. Yes, we didnt figure out the steam, welder, etc. Immediately, but that was our own fault for not being better at puzzle games. Our only complaint is that some of the areas were a little too dark. Not that we couldnt do it, it just wasnt as enjoyable running around in the dark, especially since the graphics were so nice when you could see them. Anyway, to the build team we say, IGNORE THE CRITICS, you did an amazing job. We pay 8-10 dollars to go see a movie that lasts less than 2 hours. This was just as good as any movie and lasted twice as long. So, whens the next one.
