Was really fun to play! Fun bosses and amazing levers design, cool enemies and bosses. The story seemed a little bland and couldve used a bit more detail. We also wish their were more levels to play and a bit more to do but the game is just beautiful in its design.
Very interesting, like old times!!! But the game has only 3 levels, its very few.
Very polished, clever platformer with flavor (we like the voiceovers and character names, as well as the appearance of the enemies in particular). We opted to use an MFi controller, so we can attest that it is very well implemented and makes the game a delight to play. We are also playing on an iPad Pro, so we can attest to the fact that the game looks and sounds good on a larger screen. We can't recall how we came across it, but am glad we did. It's a steal at a dollar with no ads or IAPs. Blessings to the developer for a delightful little adventure.
This game is almost great if there was a shop where you could buy new swords and armor and abilities than that would make it great.
It was fun for exactly 10 levels and then the boss is impossible to beat so we wasted our time. No tricks no weapons nothing we can do to beat it. Thanks for nothing.
This game has a fun, retro aesthetic and works great with our Nimbus game controller. We would definitely recommend, especially if you have an MFI game controller.

5 stars – First off, this game is worth every penny, and TONS of fun! We love the combat, play forming, the soundtrack is amazing. You will get plenty of playtime and it's worth every penny! Life Changing! We must say this game blows Goblin Sword out of the water, in terms of gameplay and controls, play forming, rewarding difficulty, atmosphere, etc. Also we love the side missions, they're very fun and a great distraction from the campaign. PLEASE make a Sword of Xolan 2! It would be great to see different equipment in the second one! Don't pass this game up it'll be one you won't forget.

This is a fast paced platform game with a simple concept. Our only request, would be a little more depth to the game; although, we still gave five stars because we don't think they are going for depth. It's a simple repeated concept for each stage throughout the game: find 3 caged prisoners and a chest, rinse and repeat. That said, we found ourselves addicted and ready for the next stage, knowing we're about to do the exact same thing! If this game had just a few more RPG elements it would (IMO) be perfect. The only thing it currently has is a random card system which gives you shallow boosts. We'd like to see a character building system, additional weapons and adjustable difficulty (a little too easy). We're not talking go Baldur's Gate with it, just a little something to give some depth to an already great game that is a little shallow.
Lots of fun, classic side-scrolling game with varying monster types and replayable levels of different difficulties. Worth every penny.
We highly recommend this game if you are a fan of platformers such as " goblin sword". It has great music , level design and a awesome variety of monsters….holy moly.

This game may take more than a few queues of Goblin Sword, but when the controls and gameplay are this much better we have no complaints. Superior platforming, easier to control, and better combat. You can always make your back to the beginning of the level. In GS there are points of no return which are incredibly annoying when you miss something.
Great game! We love Xolan's one liners too! Our suggestions: 1. MORE levels! (Maybe a "fire" level) 2. Way to get a different ending 3.Tighter controls, pressure sensitive jump controls for example. That's it! Great game that's super fun and ends way too quickly.
This was a great game that made us wish iPhone had more 8 bit games like this. We've looked for something comparable and have only been disappointed. This is a must.
This game is fantastic. We bought it on a whim and have been pleasantly surprised. It's great old school charm, nice difficulty ramping, charming graphics, and great bestiary keep us coming back for more and more. Hope they add more levels! For those who've played… "that was what we neeeeded!".
This game rocks! It is the perfect level of difficulty and it is super fun to play. It has upgrades, story, challenges, super satisfying sound affects, and awesome character phrases. Please make another cuz we will buy it for sure! Ohhh baby.
Jumping around and fighting enemies is amazing. This game really has a good way of letting you decided whether you want to play it for 2 minutes or 20. It could use some refinements. When it shows you how many villagers you have rescued, it should show it in order so you know which parts of the level to search.
Awesome game! Takes us back to the classic style side scrolling games of the NES & Super NES. If you luv Ghosts & Goblins or Ghouls & Ghosts you will luv this games. 5 stars hands down.

We love this game! It's a amazing retro medieval platformer. Perfect controls, great design, lovely animations and sound. We're enamored with this game! We have one request of the developers: please add ion iCade support! We would be such a happy camper if we could play this on our arcade cabinet AKA the ion iCade.

GoblinSword or enjoy side-scrolling, action rpg's in general- you will love Sword of Xolan! Its so much like GS, it could easily pass as a sequel/prequel or vice-versa. It's not as deep as GS in terms of the RPG elements, but it equals if not surpasses GS in every other category(graphics, controls, enemies, gameplay, etc.) GREAT GAME.
We don't like platformers in general. We don't like games entirely based in trial and error. We find that they are unfair and frustrating. This game is neither. Though it does have an element of trial and error, the excellent pacing and general fairness of the game that never totally overwhelms you makes for some real fun. This is the first platformer we've ever played to completion: all secrets and upgrades. Best 99 cent impulse buy ever on the App Store.

This is definitely one of the best platformer games we've played on our phone. As others have said, it is reminiscent of Goblin Sword, but we think it's much more unique. The voiceovers, the music, the spells, and rescues; all very unique aspects of Xolan. As for controls, we have a 5S and we're 6"1' so our hands are pretty big, but we think the controls are pretty tight. Occasional jump glitches, but nothing worth complaining about. The music is catchy as hell. We find ourselves whistling the tunes when we're not playing. But we're also a huge sucker for beepboops. The cards are a great touch. Saw some complaints about their effects not being worth it, which we completely disagree with. If you're grinding the first few levels just to get all the cards, then you're an idiot. We think they were designed to buy as you play through the adventure modes and challenges. For us, we've been playing through adventure and periodically checking challenges to see if we can play a new one. Neither game mode requires much replaying, a possible downside, but it's more fun to collect as you go. We're halfway through the final "act" and we have one card left, which we're sure we'll be able to afford before we finish the game. It all played out perfectly, honestly. Reviewers should stop comparing this to Goblin Sword because it's not. It's a great title in its own right and deserves credit. Props to the dev for a solid game. (If you have $2, just get them both.) Thank you, dev! Hope to see more of your work soon, whether in an update, a sequel to Xolan, or another platformer title for iOS.

This game entertains. Period. Simple 8-bit styling with standard 2D gameplay, great music and funny sound effects. Xolan is "in the house", and for less than a cup of coffee.

We never give reviews but this gem we never thought we would play truly deserves one. We got this game never thinking we would play it, but the second we picked it up we couldn't put it down. The controls are so smooth and the levels are unique and well designed. Great game 10/10.
This game rocks. No bugs at all. Well worth the price. Works with a MIFI controller perfectly. And the touch screen controls are just as smooth. We wish we could get more money from bosses to buy those upgrade cards. Also please MAKE MORE LEVELS! Or a separate game as an extension and charge another dollar. It's worth it. Seriously, the biggest mistake you could do is to not add more to this. We mean, the game great, but our appetite wants more.

This is a fun little game in the classic tradition of nes/snes/genesis side scrollers. It was mildly challenging, yet satisfying to complete. Our only hope is for a few more acts/levels to be added in a future update. Great work.
This game plays really well with excellent pacing and the on screen touch controls are tight.
We really enjoyed this little game. It reminded us of Castlevania or some other old school platformer, but with better controls. An excellent way to waste 2 or 3 hours. :).

This is truly a great game, but it's quite short, and easy to complete. We recommend Goblin sword first.
