User Reviews on Fox vs Duck – GameClub

We bought Fox vs. Duck for a few bucks… Probably six years ago, when we were still on our parents iTunes account. We have our own now, and just remembered this game and decided to look it up to see whether it stood the test of time. Whether or not it does, Ill never know. Turns out, it got bought out. Its definitely not free, but you cant just buy it eitheryou have to pay for a monthly subscription to something called GameClub, presumably for limited access to a bunch of other games youll never realistically play. Another big win for rent-seeking behaviorwho wants to own the games they enjoy anyway, when you could keep paying for them indefinitely instead? Ah, well; it is what it is. Pour one out for this fun little gameit was nice while it lasted.

This game is fantastic. A great art style, nice controls, and very simple, addictive fun. One suggestion: maybe add a few more power ups.

There is more to this than meets the eye! Okay, no need to describe play as it has already been well documented but here are some other bits that impressed the Hell out of us in this seemingly simplistic game. 1) The obstacles in the pond are much more than eye-candy! The rocks stop you dead in your tracks while lily pads will greatly slow you down if you get snagged by them. Heck, even the little school of minnows effects your movement. 2) Saving ducks is not the only way to go. You can also try to make your way as the ultimate duck massacrer which isn’t as simple as it sounds. Letting a duck get killed is simple enough but without gaining extra lives or time (depending which mode you’re playing), senseless killing will only net you so many. 3) Your final ratio of saved to killed ducks will get your session a title. What is "Warm Duck" vs. "Duck Massacre"?

Already an awesome game. This update makes the duck much more responsive now, and much more fun to play.

Lotsa fun because it’s simple, well-made, and very addicting. At a buck, you’d be a fool to pass this up!

Fun little game. It’s interesting how the pond changes, keeps things different. The pickups are nice too. Keep up the good work.

This game is great and the graphics are awesome. We just love the way the Fox looks. The only thing we want changed is to have it be a little larger. But overall it’s a must buy. Fox Vs. Duck and MiniSquadron are in the top ten best iPhone games of all time.

Nicely done Mr. Fung. Great style and unique premise – while not a long-playing game, certainly with $.99 for an interesting micro-game.

Great simple game. Addicting and very very well put together. Hopefully gets some DLC of new modes. Ex: control the fox mode or a mode to see how long you can stay in the water without getting eaten by the fish. Totally worth 99 cents.

It is an ok game. Visually it is done very well. Gets a little boring though.

The game is visually striking and has amazing audio. The overall design is modern and clean. We personally feel that the game ALWAYS changes, as rocks constantly morph into new groupings and mobile lily pads slow your duck. The game isn’t unresponsive; you’re a duck on water for chrissakes. It needs two immediate fixes, however: -Sensitivity needs user adjustability. -Often, the coi’s head is exactly in the center where the duck drops, leading to cheap and unavoidable deaths. Generally, we think more power-ups are needed. Please check out "Tilt to Live" or "Starball" for some nicely implemented examples. We love the game despite the shortcomings. Nice job.

The game is beautiful, in terms of graphical appeal. The sensitivity on the tilt controls is pretty bad. We also think there should be a custom mode, where you could add or remove obstacles such as rocks, the duck-eating fish, etc.

First off let us say that we LOVE THE GRAPHICS, but that love quickly dies because it gets too repetative. We’re wondering what the mouse is used for, and we would like to play as the fox. The name is FOX vs. DUCK si shouldnt we be able to play from both perspectives. This gane definitely need some improvement. Other than that jeep it up. We expect great things from this gane.

We’ll just come out and say we love the artwork for this game, it’s creative and original. What we don’t really like is how repetitive this game can be. It’s just duck after duck after duck. If a new update included some different game modes to change up the gameplay a little, we would give this game a higher rating.

Good game, but has bad controls.

Was really looking forward to this game as we love his first game mini squadron. Bought it the day it was released. Quite dissapointed. As reviewed by a blog, once u play one round, you’ve played the whole game. The controls are nonresponsive and u end up having most of your ducks die just coz of awful control response. Graphics and sound are superb, but unfortunately that’s not enough to create a hit game. We hope fung will learn from this app so that his 3rd game would be more along the league of mini squardon.

Beautifully styled, but we don’t see how this can be so addicting. It gets old after about 5 minutes. It’s just tilting duck after duck out of the pond while avoiding the lily pads and rocks which occasionally move around.

Until we downloaded the iPod touch 4.0 update, this was a very enjoyable and fun game. Now we can’t get the game to come up when we hit the app button on the home screen. PLEASE fix this ASAP!!!!

Strange game – 1) first page is not natural to navigate, feels like most the page wasted and then some small text to click on to launch the game 2) the ducks don’t look much like ducks 3) koi do not eat ducks in the real world! Should be aligators or snapping turtles or something like that 3) the game rapidly gets too fast and the ducks all die. Play for maybe 1-3 minutes and end of game.

We bought this game out of the buzz the developer created with the teaser and in Twitter, boy was we disappointed… Controls are non responsive and the game has no replay value whatsoever. We can imagine hundreds of better apps were to spend our money. We don’t even want to think where those 5 star reviews came from.
