This is very easily our favorite puzzle platformer available on the ios. If you’re looking for something with a bit of humor, a sci-fy story you can dive into, platforming and some very creative puzzles – you owe it to yourself to check this one out. And thank you GameClub for updating the controls. =D.
After hours of delighted and sometime frustrated play, we are confident saying this is the best game available in the App Store. Buy it now.
Solid gameplay, very well written story. Crisp and gorgeous graphics! How this game isn’t being praised on iOS and any if not all video gaming websites is a literal crime against the medium. To the developer: Make more games, we will purchase each and every one of them! Your influences truly shine through in the gameplay without getting anywhere near the lines of completely ripping off there gameplay mechanics. Thank you for having the balls and artistic talent to make this game! And seriously, make more!
Fun experience, challenging puzzles, great controls and amazing graphics. Can’t ask for more in an iOS game. Also on a side note- ignore the reviews that state the puzzles are too hard sometimes. These puzzles are challenging but it’s nothing difficult like in Year Walk. If you get stuck, Helios will help you.
Incoboto may seem like just another cutesy platformer at first, but it’s actually one of the more thoughtful and darker games we’ve ever played. It is indeed a hidden gem, and well worth your time and money.
This game is so fun and is a good way to kill boredom. It has a unique concept and is enjoyable. Must buy for anyone with spare time or anyone who likes to play fun games. Great Game!
This is, put quite simply, the best game we have ever played. On any gaming system, ios device, or computer. The sheer beauty of it is astounding. The unique controls, the most addicting puzzles, and a bit of skill make this an experience that we have gone through 3 times. This is by far the most repayable game on our ipad. We’re shocked at how such a simple story could actually take a hold of us and captivate us for the hours we have spent on this game. The music and sound effects pull you in as if you really have control. Must get. We’re telling all of our friends about this… Really quite wonderful.
Definently worth the money, one of our favorite games, has a great atmosphere to it.
We recommend trying the controller style controls before the default setting. There are some irritatingly difficult parts and it’s mainly because the controls are unorthodox. We are definitely looking forward to a part 2.
We loved this game and felt it was well worth the money. The puzzles are fun and challenging and the story is engaging. The learning curve is very well graduated. Some of the puzzles are hard, but they all make sense and only a few require split second timing or a lot of running around. Also tech support is amazing. We had a problem with the jetpack and within hours Dene suggested a workaround and found the bug and submitted a fix.
Cute, solid puzzle platformer but the controls take some getting used to. And if we read the credits correctly, one guy did everything and to us that is pretty impressive. We were going to give it 4 stars but he gets extra credit for the David Lynch mention and the Jean Michel Jarre references.
Fun game play and challenging puzzles. Kind of short though, finished all the levels within about a week of casual play. Also the controls to jump and run can be challenging to use. Hope to see more from Incoboto!
We LOVE this game , but we are so stuck!!! The level with the swinging orbs that need to be simultaneously hit in order to get the red power ball; we can’t do it. We even read the writers clues… Didn’t work. We’ve been working on this challenge for 2 weeks now. We would think that maybe we’re just lame, but we’re also playing Unmechanical right now and there were 2 puzzles to figure out that we thought were really hard. The first took us about 4 days to get thru, the second about 30 min., but we did it. We’re at sunshine system; fate. Any suggestions?
Though it’s got some rough edges – weird controls (that you will get used to), cliche and unnecessary story elements (oh no! The Corporation!!!), it’s still a fun game to obsess over for a chunk of hours. If you are constantly searching for puzzle games (how do we advance to the next level???), you should give this one a whirl. Also, innovative gameplay with spherical planets that you circumnavigate. No flat worlds here. RECOMMEND!
Great game with easy controls. It would get a 5 star review if they would make it longer. We finished the game in two days.
Disclosure: to all of you who just finished the game 100%: go back to WarmSun and turn it off. Don’t be like us and wander through the game like a mad person. It’s really good. Once we got used to the unorthodox (one might even say crappy) controls we grew to appreciate them since the game was more difficult this way. Such a lovely story, so much heart put into the puzzles, amazing graphics, etc. Etc. Truly outstanding for an iOS game. But, we think our expectations were so high we were disappointed at the end (btw to all you lefties, you should be able to beat the game much easier than us poor right handed folk).
This is not the best game you will ever play, despite what some seem to mistakenly think. It is okay. For its cost, I’d say its worth it.. The devs did a pretty okay job to make an interesting and mildly challenging puzzler. The game is worth about four stars, but we rate here 3 (contemplating 2) due to the absolutely horrible controls. Moving and actions is clunky when your finger taps to grow a bomb for instance but instead hits the nearby sign that reads some snide, unfunny comment by the pseudo bureaucracy The Corporation. Poor humor and terrible controls aside, give this game at if you have the money to spare.
After reading the sterling reviews of this game we thought I’d give it a try. The storyline is way too disruptive and interrupts gameplay with bad grammar and disjointed sentence fragments every minute or so. The play gets boring really quickly as well. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
We found the controls so frustrating we soon gave up.
We don’t know why people gave good reviews on this game. Really boring and waste of money… Do not buy unless u r Super rich!
This was a very well made made game. It was very fun and challenging with funny elements mixed into an awesome storyline. Get it!
We were really blown away by this game. The puzzles gradually increased in difficultly, and more often then not we found myself making the solutions much more difficult then they needed to be. It’s frustrating when you can’t solve a puzzle, but those proverbial "aha!" moments you have when you beat that s.o.b and snag that dangling star make you keep going back! At first the spinning planets made us a bit queasy, so if you have any problems with your inner ear you may want to limit the time you spend with this game. Sometimes the touch controls didn’t respond accordingly which was a tad frustrating, but we’re not sure if that’s a game issue or dexterity issue on our part. All in all, the storyline was completely engrossing and we loved every minute we played. Related but not, trying to find walkthroughs to help on areas we were stuck on for DAYS we learned this entire game (including the soundtrack!) was created by one man. Yes, one, single, man-cub. Don’t even bother trying to hype up the next game, Dene; shut up and take our money!!
It’s a really fun app, with sections that are challenging but not discouraging. The feeling when you solve a puzzle is the best thing. Worth the money. One question, we’re having trouble using the jet pack? We keep jumping than sliding our finger up but that isn’t working. Suggestions?
We were skeptical about this game but kept coming back to it, and we’re glad we did. It’s got fun and challenging puzzles that aren’t impossible. We love games that make you think but don’t require you to find an online cheat. Definitely worth the money. Only suggestion would be to make the ending a little more substantial. Regardless still loved this game and hope they (he) make more like it (preferably #2)!
Just replayed this fantastically made piece of greatness. Glad it made it on the greatest EVAR list.
Just finished at it was and is an Amazing experience. So unique and different from other iOS gaming experiences. Development at its best. Thanks for this special game!
Glad we bought this game. So many games of the same type out there and this is really unique.
Played through entire game in less than a day, so it’s a fairly small game. Most of the action involves trying to manipulate a very small character at the bottom center of the screen, which is wearing, particularly as the controls can be sloshy and imprecise. Crashed on our iPad 2 frequently, and brought down the whole machine a couple of times. There’s a lot of reading unnecessary text, not to mention collecting puzzle pieces for no understandable purpose. Still, the obstacles are engaging, the pacing is great, and the graphics are pleasant.
This game provides an interesting and engaging story with characters you connect with in a post apocalyptic universe all while providing a hook to keep you guessing and wanting to figure out what is going on. This game is probably one of the best games on an iOS device and any other portable device for that matter. We highly recommend this game to everyone, and future games should aspire to be just as good as this one.
Absolutely terrific Metroid-ish game with a gorgeous art style and really good soundtrack. Our favorite iPad exclusive.
Incoboto is a lovely and charming game. It gives you a warm fuzzy feeling while you play it (as long as you are not stuck on a puzzle), and we enjoyed every moment of it. Our only complaint is that there is nothing more interesting than an achievement waiting for you when you collect all the star charts.
We own many games and this one is at the top of our current list. We recommend it for those that like Machinarium, Windosill, and Super Brothers Sword and Sorcery on the iPad. The gameplay reminds us of Mario Galaxy, and the way the story is presented is in a fashion similar to the games we mentioned and Portal. There are complexities to the game, like those found in the classics, Metroid and Zelda. It hits your emotions and draws you into the mystery of the storyline. We feel some sadness in response to the storyline but there is also humor in dialog and we feel sympathy toward the main characters, Inco and Helios that It makes us want to keep playing, learn more, and help them. The controls and graphics are very well done. The music in the game reminds us of our sound soother from Brookstone, which makes this game very relaxing to play as well. We are positive this game will be featured as an App Store Game of The Week, very soon!
"Sweet", "touching", "melancholic", "other worldly"not words you usually associate with a video game, but playing Incoboto gave us those reactions. If you felt for Wall-E, a little robot alone on a deserted world and hoped the little guy might have a better life, you should play the role of Inco, striving to find out what happened to his world, his people, his civilization. You play the plunky, self-reliant Inco and discover what really happened, constantly striving to whatever end might be in store. The game is wonderful, a marvelous, mysterious, and mesmerizing blend of action, adventure and brain-teasing puzzle solving. The game uses 2D platforming interface, yet feels far more three-dimensional than most 3D first-person games we’ve played. There is a real sense of suspense, danger conspiracy, and sometimes even dread, without the violence found in most games. The game has fantastic visuals, special effects, music and sound effects that all blend perfectly to enhance the experience. We were happy with the ending, but sad we had to leave. Play Incoboto and support innovative game design, maybe there is more to gaming than throwing birds around.
Fun, we just wish collecting all the star maps served a purpose.
We love this game. The simple art style combined with sublime art direction, great controls, challenging puzzles, lonely story . . . Its great.
This game is pretty awesome. It’s our favorite iPad game right now… We just wish they updated to the retina display already!
We just finished the game after a few days, and we must say, very beautiful graphics, fun little puzzles to try and figure out along the way, great story (very different from anything we’ve seen) and kept our interest the entire time. We were sad for this game to end!! Recommended it to our brothers and sister, they’ll love it as well! This game and Machinarium are the two best games out there in our opinion…! Worth every cent! We seriously loved this game, we need more like it, absolutely beautiful job people!!!
The graphics, sounds, story and gameplay all work well together and create an enchanting environment. Love the game controls. The sound effects are perfect!
Played this on and off for a week and it’s a very well done iPad game. Simple controls, lots of tough puzzles and a focused, linear story make it an epic iPad game. And it was developed entirely by one guy!
Great mix of platformer and puzzle game, very smooth learning/difficulty curve, and quite a nice gameplay experience too. We can understand the default controls, but we personally would prefer left/right controls and a single jump/shoot buttons, rather than the current dual left/right button alternative to the default. It’s nice and intuitive to basically trace your way through the game with one finger, but it sometimes gets in the way of seeing what you’re doing. Otherwise it is just a great game altogether!
Sort of like a platform puzzle game. Its short but enjoyable, and has a really unusual feel to it.
Fun, non-twitchy, unique and very pretty platformer, but one star off for constantly nagging us about social features. Please make it stop!
Gorgeous looking, wonderful soundtrack, and enjoyable game play. Only needs to be updated for retina display.
We confess, that we’re a bit of a cheater on these things, and often check the Web if we get stuck. There aren’t a lot of tips or hints out there, though, so we had to gut it out — and except for the final puzzle, where we did get one important tip on a forum, we figured it out! A couple of times we really thought we were stuck, but usually that was because we were expecting the solution to be more complex that it actually was. It can be frustrating, but try a variety of things! Incoboto is somewhat disorienting and sometimes hard to track, but it is cute w/o being cutesy. The music is pleasant and the melancholy mood is a nice change. It could have a little more visual variety, but all in all, an amazing game for those who want something a bit different.
This is a FANTASTIC game. The game play, puzzles, art, interactivity and the music especially are phenomenal. Very high production value and design. Unfortunately it suffers from all-too-often crashing on our iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1. Also we find the controls a little frustrating at times with regards to manipulating objects but that’s a small gripe. Stellar (no pun intended) game over all, looking forward to bug fixes.
We just finished Incoboto for the first time (all 100 stars and all 50 star charts) and we look forward to going through it again soon. Great puzzle, great story, and only one developer! The only cons would be: 1) controls – we know it’s designed for one finger play, but the controls still took a bit of getting used to. 2) glitches – the game had occasional glitches. The main one is anytime you minimize the game and come back to it later, it automatically shuts down and makes you restart it again. Sure, you start where you left off, but this happened every time we switched to a different app and then came back. All in all, the pros to the game far outweigh the cons. Definitely in our top 5 of the year, and maybe our top 5 on iOS. If you like puzzle/platformer type of games, this is great.
As we said it is a fun game but after a while it seems it crashes frequently. We are tired of coming back to the game and being asked if we want to allow access to twiter then if we really want to pass on the Open Feint. Decisively not a multitasking app or a bullying app. Fail.
