Community Insight:

Each race is a challenge, great time killer.

This game is really good with its works with physics and has a wide variety of boats. But we wish you could choose the course and maybe have better animations like with people and the spinnaker. Also on some boats the jib does not switch sides. We also wish that you had boat customization and a larger fleet size.

Great game–very good physics. We wish we could see the course beforehand and/or adjust the view. Need to know where we're headed prior to the mark rounding.

This game is fun for what it is, but its not exactly a simulator. The penalties are a bit screwy (we think it misunderstands the overlap rules.) Bit two improvements would really help. The player should not be on starboard tack all the time. Also a prestart would be great And it would be awesome if there could be some accounting for wind blocking. So the trailing boat could make the downwind boat go.

Game is pretty good. Need ability to adjust competition level. Needs more than two courses. Need to change the direction of the wind from course to course. Need a knot speedometer.

This game is really fun, but some of the penalties are messed up. We'll get penalized for hitting a port tack boat while on starboard tack. It also penalizes the leeward boat for hitting the windward boat, when the opposite should actually be the penalty. Also it's super annoying that the player always starts on port tack. We almost always hit the committee boat unless we turn up into the wind more than we want to. A 10-20 second start sequence would be a lot more fun and realistic.

This game is great fun! Being a sailor it makes this game even better. We love the different classes and how u can see your rankings. However the penalties are a little messed up. Also we've found that u need to one tak almost every race. We still like it but it needs a fixing.

Nice graphics – awful controls.

Pretty good game. Sometimes it's very difficult to see the arrows around the turns letting you know which way you need to turn. They need to be bigger.

Steering input is sketchy at bestno consistent correlation to how much finger movement equals how much rudder so youre constantly turning to much or not enough. Maybe give the option to use the g-sensors like the driving games? A course overview before the start would be nice, as would a chance to start on the port tack.

It is fun, but sailing rules are wrong in this game.

It consistently crashes on certain boats. Furthermore, when it does work, you always start on a port tack with the committee boat in the way, thereby allowing the computer boat to win 9 times out of 10. The computer boat always starts on a starboard rack.

This is the real deal! It's a rush, just as if we were out on the water racing.

Most sailing games are either overly simplistic or get bogged down in the details of sailing. Go for the Gold has the balance just right – you need to use the wind to your advantage and you can still just dive in and compete. We just with there were more catamaran options.

Great game! We would love it if it had a multiplayer mode to play vs your friends. It could be with more than just the 2 boats to make it even more fun.

Wonderfully realistic. Just wish there could be a longer version.

It needs bigger boats like ac 72 and longer coarses.

Although this app has controls that take a bit more than a 'learning curve' to get the hang of, this app is, overall, pretty swell. We would love to see more courses for each class, some fleet racing would be amazing. Also a pre start is needed, as it startes you off not making the boat end and often you have to pinch up to avoid it.

Nice app. We think the opponent cheats because he can sail higher and faster than us. Otherwise, fun and challenging.

The sailboats in this game defy the laws of physics. Real boats tack around their keels – resulting in right angled turns. These boats drive like cars that round a corner. Did the programmer ever sail a boat.

The game keeps crashing every time we pick a team and we just got the NEW update.

Good try but the steering function is painfully slow. Another problem is that you cannot see the marks. The guiding arrow does not appear until you get close to the mark so you are basically sailing blind. We tried following the competitor to learn the marks, but it is too tough to remember where they are in the next race. We would be happy to pay for a version with good steering, better mark indicators, and more than one competitor in the race.

It would be a better game if the steering was smoother! It's like trying to steer a Mack truck.

We were really excited when we came across a true sailing sim only to be let down by bad controls… How about a simple tiller? The physics are good but lack of precise control ruins it all. Give us a tiller or a wheel and we'll give it five stars.
