Eternium – Roleplaying Game Review

Eternium is a Roleplaying/Action game from Making Fun, Inc., first launched in 11th August 2014.
It’s rated 12+ and currently has 62,793+ ratings on the App Store.

What Makes Eternium Stand Out

Indie RPG made with passion by a handful of old-school RPG fans.

Eternium is an amazingly fun and beautifully crafted Action RPG, reminiscent of the great classics.

Eternium stands out from other mobile Action RPGs by its effortless “tap to move” and innovative “swipe to cast” controls, and its player-friendly “no paywalls, never pay to win” philosophy.

Drawing signs to cast spells is easy and rewarding. The tap-to-move control is more natural and relaxing than thumbsticks, and it’s also truer to the vintage point-and-click Action RPG experience.

The game can be really played for free, as more than 90% of our players do. Purchases are completely optional. Gems, the game’s main currency, can be collected from enemies and quests. There is no limiting stamina or energy. The best things in the game are obtained by playing, not paying.

With the exception of a couple of online-only features, the game can also be played offline after the content download completes.

Eternium initially launched in 2014, and is actively being improved by the original development team. Through years of polishing, and feedback from millions of players, the quality of the game has steadily increased, making it now one of the highest rated games on the App Store.

Enjoy the visceral satisfaction of responsive, fast-paced combat, with spectacular special effects, pleasing sounds, rewarding damage numbers, all set against immersive backdrops and atmospheric, inspiring music scores.

Play as a Mage, Warrior or Bounty Hunter, wielding a sword, axe, staff or gun. Level up to learn new abilities and increase your attributes.

Battle skeletons, zombies, automatons, aliens, demons, dragons and many other creatures, across four beautifully hand-crafted worlds, or in endless generated levels.

Venture into dark caves and dungeons, explore forests, villages and graveyards, lay siege to demon controlled castles, brave snowy mountain peaks, travel to the moon to slay strange creatures among craters and canyons, and beyond, to the deserts, pyramids and jungles of the red planet.

Open treasure chests to loot gold, gemstones and battle gear. Equip shiny breastplates, menacing helmets and hoods, spiked shoulder pads, mysterious cloaks or capes. Protect yourself with a shield, or choose to wield two weapons as a warrior.

Rescue your tank, healer and ranger companions who will join you in battle. Use their abilities together with yours to create rewarding and powerful tactical combos.

Experience a refreshing storyline, filled with interplanetary intrigue and seasoned with funny characters. Hunt your arch-enemy, Ragadam, across the worlds, while trying to uncover and undo his twisted plans.

Progress from common to rare, epic and legendary gear. Find gemstones that fit in your armor’s sockets. Craft socketed rings and amulets, and fuse three of them into a higher quality one.

Unleash awesome offensive abilities, such as Whirlwind, Shockwave, Arc Lightning or Immolate, control the enemy crowd with Frost Nova, Vortex, Silence, or sneak and assassinate with Smokescreen, Traps and Snipe.

Each hero class has access to about 20 abilities (skills or spells), and each of your three companions has four more. The game starts simple, but culminates in a flurry of tactical possibilities at high levels.

Once your hero reaches level 70, your experience points go into Champion Levels, which are unlimited and yield steady stat upgrades. Champion Levels are also inherited by your new heroes, so they will have an easier time growing up.

Aside from the four story acts, an endless progression of beautiful, randomly generated levels awaits in the Trials of Valor game mode.

Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

Its a little Diablo-like, Im enjoying it so far.

It is a fun little game. So playing with no cash upgrades.

Really like the ability to play offline.

Completely time taking , not so easy and really interesting- looking forward to future updates.

Game is a solid Diablo clone. It is not pay to win but you essentially cant play the game unless you buy slots for everything. Inventory. Skills. Skill timers. Etc. Sad to see they are still milking this years after it was relevant.

How this game managed to attract more attention than Anima is beyond us. We respect the old school style. But its very bland. Everything costs money. Theres almost no point.

It would be a fun game if not for the bugs. It freezes a lot. Also, sometimes you will run the opposite direction from where you were headed, put your nose in the corner, and refuse to move until the app restarts. It is so weird and disruptive to game play that we finally gave up. The game needs options for hair and skin color. Also consider the option to add your other characters as companions.

It's an amazing polish old classic game as if was from 2010s game. But it does get boring fast for 2 hrs. But we still play the game and is fun.

We love the artwork and quality but can you fix the game to stop kicking us out.

We love game but it keeps freezing and crashing on our iPod touch screen to play.

Reminds us of FATE and games similar to that. Im enjoying it so far.

If you like leveling up skills, getting loot, and killing mobs, youll love this game. Also its offline so great for long rides without reception.

The game is very good. We remember playing this as a child with our brother and sister we still do its really fun.

Possibly the best free game ever.

Best game in our life taste like puss in a can.

We like game graphic and smoothness. A lot of missions. One of the best on market in this genre.

Fun game so far, all the gems needed for skills is a bit rough though.

Again, it takes a lot of time and grinding to get anywhere, but for the story itself, you can mostly get by. Im f2p, but so far, besides the ridiculous gem pricing for things, the only true downside is the pvp. They have no way to show if youre fighting an opponent twice your level till your in the fight. In-game shops are ridiculously overpriced, and gems are pretty much needed. The mindless gameplay is pretty fun though to waste time.

T he touch-where-to-go mixed with the touch-in-a-shape casting is bad design. Need a better UI for controls. Too sloppy and frustrating Played 10 min then deleted. Shame. Great otherwise.

When selecting a task/mission from the map after leaving the town square/start point the game crashes every time. In this case when we select Fiery Pits it starts to load then crashes. We used to play this quite a bit and it worked just fine. The App Store says the game is compatible. We dont know what the deal is and Im not a techy type person so Ill probably have to find another game to play.

That simple, first time opening game, left it on for 10 min, did nothing.

Developer seems to argue with customers. We don't think that's a very intelligent way to respond to people willing to pay in your game. Nones the less, 50 gems is 50 gems.

We dont normally touch f2p games but this is a fair one where we dont feel the need to spend money for everything.

We love this game please make this game available.

We pinky barely started, but we are already addicted. Its very entertaining and much like Diablo, which we love.

For lovers of old school dungeon crawlers, this game is a must.

Having lots of fun so far. Combat is nice and UI isnt cluttered like some mobile games.

Throughly enjoying the r overall gameplay experience. Easy to play, intuitive controls, and ease of complexity guided by simple tutorials. 10 out of 10 would download it again.

Basically a reduced down Diablo on our phone. Quite fun, but the gem economy is a bit annoying at times. Still, dont have to pay to have fun and advance.

Its great, but controller support would make it even better.

After a couple years got another iPad and installed. Nothing really changed. Grind grind grind. Kinda like Diablo 2.

The arena is stupid whoever designed thats got to be the stupidest human alive.

Fan of simple action rpgs? Then this is the game youre looking for! Was pleasantly surprised with this one.

No ads, and old-school RPG at its finest. So many quests and worlds.

Very well thought out. Keeps us plaing.

The best of its genre. A must have.

Perfect for on the go RPG!!! Starts fast n not too much dialogue but can keep u busy for hours! Very Diablo2 like.

We played this game few years ago. We started picking it up again but notice some issues are still not fixed. Spell gestures still not good. When we used V, it still needs to be almost perfect for the game recognize it. Frequently, it thinks V is O. Very annoying. Companion AI is still has no AI. They will not recognize that they are standing in front of a spot that their attacks are blocked. Recently we died and got stuck in a small room with no way out. Overall, this is not a PTW game. You can grind the game without spending a dime. You can earn a decent number of premium gems from daily quests and events.

The game is decent. It just needs controller support. The higher level you get the more ridiculous these symbols for casting spells become.

Im a straight n00b and we like it. Lots to learn.

We love this game a whole lot its just that we wish they can add controller support to play this game on we know it would take a little while to add it because of having to do a whole lot of coding and other stuff but please add controller support soon.

This is a fun game. Yes, there are some glitches where the character gets stuck in an unplayable area forcing you to restart the level but other than that its very good. Im not a gamer and this one of the few games Ive really enjoyed playing and like that it syncs between our iPad, Android phone, and PC. We have no clue why another reviewer is claiming you have to pay to play or get things. We have been playing this for about a year and am on our third time through the levels at a higher skill level and have never had to pay even one cent to get anything – you collect everything you need while playing the levels. Yes, there is an option to purchase extra things like gems if youre one of those people who just wants to pay to get the top abilities right from the start instead of earning them as you go. Also, this isnt a paid review, just leaving it because of the idiot reviewer who doesnt know what theyre talking about since we hate when people do things like that.

We figured it would be a boring game but its actually pretty fun and changes up we like the customization available and so on. Keep up the good work DEVS.

Rate us 5 stars get free gems in game so. Here it is, that on top of this being worthy of 5 stars as far as a good mobile rpg goes. Thank god for this game. A difficult rpg with good systems and a challenge we love it.

Found this game right before a flight and it seriously made the flight a short one! Really enjoyed the controls and the combat system.

Cool game, you also can play it offline. That comes in handy for us when Im away from Wi-Fi.
