Honestly the only times we ever had to use the super abilities (besides when they force you too for tutorials or because some challenge levels make you use them and give you free ones) was one steam ray level 15 and two electrical discharges on level 20, and we didnt pay for those becuase we had beaten every challenge level up to that point so we had plenty, and yes, it IS possible to beat all normal levels while getting gold tower without super abilities, only one time did we even have to backtrack to do that, and all the challenge levels are possible as well. End note: great game, super fun, great graphics and great enemy design, just wish they kept the OG soundtrack.

We downloaded this game on our last device which was broke but we completed the game we were sitting here 12:42 AM and we were just like steampunk tower was a good game and got it back but please add a endless mode and the unit idea is great to please add these features because over all the games great but we would love more content.
We love this game but we think you guys could add a endless mode that would make us love it even more us and our friend compete with each other who can win level 20 with the least amount of bots but if you add endless mode it will give us a chance to really compete and for others to have fun.
Good but can you add units to send from the steampunk tower you can pick a unit to send out to fight the enemy. Make them the units that the enemy has.
The graphics are stunning, gameplay is addicting and delivered extremely well. We absolutely adore this game 5/5 A+.
We love this game and all of the turrets and challenging levels. Although we have attempted to buy one thing for a dollar and another for two dollars. Each time we had done so, our game crashed, our Apple ID said we lost that amount of money, but we hadnt gotten any tower points. So dont spend money on this if your planning to.
Don't know what people are complaining about. You don't need to pay to complete the game. Just replay until you've gotten gold in all the levels. You can reset the upgrades if you've made a mistake.
Have replayed through all the levels several times. It's a great twist on tower defense.
This app is amazing! We completed all the levels in a little less then two days so it is a short game but the levels are all pretty challenging. If you actually want to beat the entire game then you need to get or complete all the levels and challenge levels get all the guns. If there were to be an update then please add some more levels. We highly recommend this game. It's great. It's hard to tell you all the good things about this game there just to many. If you get anything from this it should be GET THIS APP.

This game is amazing its our love of steampunk and tower defence games so we love it.
This game is really awesome, was our one of our favorite childhood games, but after playing it again for the 2nd time in years, its just not as enjoyable for some reason anymore. U should add more weapons. It gets boring after a while. Please add something to spice it up a little. Pretty cool though.
This game is very fun to play. You can upgrade guns, it doesn't really require to you to pay for pay extra unless you want fast upgrade. Take one star off cause the game story didn't take long to finished. Overall, we would highly recommend this game to friends :).
OK we guess they deleted our detailed review, so we'll just say instead, no more Chillingo games for us. It would have been one of the best tower defense games ever, but instead they decided to ruin it with the in app purchase system. Stupid unbeatable bonus levels that require you to spend money after the game is already over just leave a bad taste in your mouth. If they had left those levels out, it would've been a great game, but now we kind of don't like it anymore.
We liked this tower defense game for the first few hours. The art and overall style is charming and the mechanics are somewhat unique (focused on optimal timing of weapon reloading), although the variety and strategy are somewhat limited. After about level 14, however, we started feeling like the game was tuned more to get money from us and not for fun. When the levels get harder, you can't realistically replay earlier levels for points to upgrade your weapons–you'll get about 100 points for replaying a level but it costs thousands to level up your weapons. Super-powered weapons are introduced early in the game but the special, consumable, energy required to use them is doled out so frugally that you could easily use it up just learning how to use the weapons and have none when you really need it. There is no way to earn more of that energy without real money. Of course, it would be fair to say the game is just too challenging for us, but nonetheless, it feels like a game that lost its purpose somewhere on the hunt for in-app purchases. We've played and loved (and given 5 star ratings to) brutally difficult games that were fun even though we could never make it past the first few levels. We've spent hours perfecting runs and completing games that we probably should have given up on because they were just out of our league–but they were just so awesome. This is not one of those games.
This game is great at first. It ends very quickly and there aren't any infinite levels. Don't spend any money for upgrades, you will simply end the game even earlier. Way too short and no replay potential.
Talk about getting paid to play this while sitting on the toilet! We think we owe our company a couple of days of pay for playing this addictive game. It is not overly complex or simple. Some stages are easy and some difficult and some of the challenges will make you want to pull out your hair. Overall just what you want for a phone game app. Anything more and you should be at home playing on a system! Thanks Chillingo! Keep them coming. FYI – we didn't need to buy anything inside this fame to be competitive.
So cool! We really like the entire game.
We love this game and it's very addicting. We'd definitely give it five stars but something's going on with it. We finish the first two levels then it makes us do the 2nd level AGAIN and it won't let us continue and if we leave the game and come back it goes back to the 1st level instead. Please fix this, if you did this would probably be our new favorite game.
We really enjoy it, but since we had to update our IOS it resets the game after the second battle. Hopefully a fix will come along soon.
Every time you return to the map, Bingham introduces himself again. Also, after we beat the second tower, Jane told us about the upgrades again, and seems to have removed our previously bought upgraded turret and upgrades. It seems we can't go beyond the second tower, as it reappears.
The 8.0 has rekt many apps that are really fun and this is one it would be perfect if you could pass level 2.
We have played this game on our labtop before and loved the game when we found it on here we were like hell yes a game worth playing so we played and beat the first lvl and bought the upgrades for lvl two we also beat it But it showed the same text as it did after we beat lvl one it also made us buy the upgrades again so we tried to beat lvl two three times and still does the same thing please fix this bug we really want to play the game as we enjoyed it on of we would like to enjoy it on here as well.
It's a good game. But we have a six-plus and the game restarts levels. We play a level and it restarts the same level. We would give it five stars but this bug is making the game less enjoyable.
This game is great, but the bug still exists.. You beat level two and it never continues…. Sad day.
Steampunk Tower Defense is a great game but from the other reviews the game sets you back to level one after level two but it's a great game and it has a similarities to the PC Version.
We keep beating level 2 over and over again.
The gameplay isnt too difficult. Can finish the levels quite easily without using any in-app purchases. However, something happened after iOS 8 was installed. Instead, all the achievements were wiped out, and it will not advance past the second level.
Game needs some work. Was pretty far on the game but now that we updated our iPhone to ios8 it deleted where we were and now won't let us past the second level.
There's a lot of neat ideas here that could have made this a unique and worthwhile tower defense game. Unfortunately, the designers didn't seem to know what to do with their formula, resulting in levels with relatively limited variety, difficulty, or strategic depth. While we didn't particularly enjoy the few hours we spent on this game, we hope they pick up a more experienced developer and make a sequel, as there's definitely potential for an interesting TD game hidden in its base mechanics.
Great game but there appears to be an issue with the second level. Every time we beat the first level and purchase the upgrades as well as completing the second level the game deletes the score from the first level making it a bronze tower and completely delete the data from the second level except for the tower points. Other than that we think this would be a great game.
Seems like a good game, needs an update tho. You can't even get past level two before it resets and you have to play level one again.
Chilling generally has good game concepts, and this is no exception. Unfortunately, there's a bug preventing you from getting past the second level.
Up until the ios8 update, this game was great. Now we can't get past lvl 2. It will constantly loop to replay the same lvl. Please fix.
Another game ruined by in-app purchases: we played this for 2 hours, and quickly realized that it was made extra difficult, so that additional purchases are required. We're done playing games like that. We used to love Chillingo games, but not anymore. They are too greedy.
Game won't proceed past level two… Disappointing as it is a very good game from what we can tell. Bug is for both iPhone 5 and we pad please fix as we wish very much to play more of what looks like a very addicting game.
The game will not let us get past stage two but when we close out of the app it's like we'd never opened it before and am having to do stage one again also if we exit out of stage two the same thing happens.
After beating the second level, it shows the same text and makes us upgrade the machine gun again and sends us back to level 2 again. It just keeps looping and no progress is actually saved. We've beaten the second level at least 5 times before closing the game and then starting from the beginning to do the same again. Please fix this bug since the game looks very promising.

We wish we could actually get past the second level. From what we can see this is happening to everyone, but there's no update for it.
After beating second level it stops you from going to the third.
We bought this game a while ago and just now redownloaded it. We beat the first lvl and the second but it won't let us go further than the second lvl. PLZ fix we will rate higher when u do.
It was playable without IAP and a unique twist on tower defense. Went to play on our IPad and can't progress past the 2nd level making the game pointless.
We realized there was something wrong around the third or fourth time mr whatshisname introduced himself. And the problem is a crippling bug essentially making this game only two levels long. We would really enjoy playing this so please fix this bug asap.
This game is non-functional on iOS 8. Can only play the first two training levels. Instead of reaching level 3 you are asked to replay level 2. Forever. Also, add nasty manipulative in-app purchases to "help" you clear purposefully crippling levels and you got a 0 star app. Stay away.
