This board game is a mobile and tablet version of one of the most famous classical board games. The logics and Dominant Mind Code Breaker game rules are very similar to an earlier invented mind game called Bulls and Cows that was played with a pencil on paper.
Game Rules
Dominant Mind Code Breaker is a mind game that is played on a decoding board with a shield covering four colored pins, the goal is to guess the code and recreate the hidden row in this board game. Below the shield there are eight horizontal rows where the player, code breaker is able to guess the color and placing of the covered pins. On the right side of each horizontal row there are holes for pegs where the software will provide feedback for the code breaker after every attempt made to guess the code:
- black peg indicates right color pin in right place
- white peg indicates right color pin in wrong place
- no peg indicates wrong color and place
The code breaker only gets one peg for every covered color that they guess right. If there are two pins of the same color hidden behind the shield, and the player guess that there are three pins of that same color, the player can still only get two pegs indicating right color.
Once the feedback has been provide the code breaker has a new attempt to guess the color/placing and break the code, with the help of the feedback and logical thinking.
As the numbers of rows indicate you only have eight attempts to guess the code you will be awarded points when you guess the color right and extra bonus points when you crack the code. Extra points are also awarded if you break the code in an early stage of this logic game.

We love this game. Please give time to view the board after the correct answer is revealed, and then press a button to move on. Our son and we used to enjoy playing this game years ago and discussing all the choices and the conclusions drawn at each turn after the reveal.
Game pieces are brightly colored. Game has multiple levels of difficulty which greatly helps you in trying to learn the strategies of solving the codes. Minimal advertisements. Great way to unwind from a busy day.
We think that you guys should also have the option of us making the code and another player or a robot tries to guess the code.

Fun just like the classic game but can only play a couple games before the money kicks in.
12 attempts to solve the hard level is way too many. 8 is more than sufficient.
The game is basic Master Mind game from the 80s, which is fine. Ads pop up after every game. But the WORST ads are the occasional ones where your choice is to UPGRADE or to watch an ad for an extra life. No other choice. Very frustrating.
There needs to be an option that does not allow two or more pegs to be the same color.
Love the game but still get the stupid save the king adds.
You have to watch videos or buy things so you can play over and over again, you have lives for some reason. It is exactly the game but full of adds.
We really do enjoy the game, but there are far too many ads for what is essentially just an online clone of mastermind. It sometimes gives us an ad as soon as we open the app, even if we dont do anything. Even though Im sure it could easily run offline, they block that functionality so that you have to see ads no matter what you do. Its fun enough, but we unfortunately cant really recommend this one.
We dont feel compelled to play if it doesnt feel like Im competing. The stats arent updating on the leaderboard.
Easy way to get your mind in a relaxed state.
Would be perfect if upgraded version was free or you could play different sizes with a proportional number of turns.
For beginners like ourselves, we have no clue what to do. We had to look up what the pegs meant but the game is also inconsistent in what the pegs mean. We had a game where the top left peg was black (meaning the first color is right we think?) and we had white there. Later in the SAME game, we put green first and the top left peg was black! So which is supposed to be first? White or green?! We are IMMENSELY confused, so there should be a tutorial at LEAST explaining which pegs correspond to which color, and what the different color pegs mean.
We paid for the advanced version so that we wouldnt have to watch ads before running it on difficult but its still asking us to pay or watch ads, even though we already gave them the money. Be cautious.
After a couple games, we were forced to watch a video (advertisement) in order to be allowed to continue playing. We even started the video but it was going to be too long (and loud) for our tolerance.
You cant erase a move. And you cant select a position other that 1-2-3-4. Not cool.
This happens a lot. We select the game and while setting up / opening, the entire app blows off. Memory handling?? We dont have this problem if we turn off our device entirely and restart it.
The app doesnt correctly tell you if a slot is right or not, one second you select a color and it says youre correct and then next turn youre not even close. Dont waste your time. We wish we could share photos because its really not fun whatsoever. Try a different one.
Fewer decoding rows (8) than traditional boxed game (10). A decoding hole is automatically highlighted making you tap the hole you actually want to fill, this is irritating. When game ends a big banner fills the screen. This makes it impossible to see the progression of your game, where you went wrong in your logic and there is no way to go back to see the full board.
Alike most people here, we played a lot of Mastermind as a kid. Great app overall. However, one complaint is that Ive tried watching ads to unlock the Hard mode three times and it never gave us a single game. Ive tried restarting the app and our cellular data, etc.
Great game but we wish it would stay on the screen after you solve the puzzle so you can show another person or take a screen shot.

Mastermind is our go to for forcing our brain to concentrate and not think about anything else. Great for focus. We wish this game allowed you to place pegs wherever you wanted without having to start with the first peg first. Probably a 4 star app but we love the game so much and this app didnt mess with the old school version so we gave it 5.
We played the original master ours for years and we started playing your app online. You do have a problem with scoring certain row. If you were hiding a green green yellow yellow combination and the player sets up a green green white yellow you score them only three black pegs where the scoring should be three black pegs and one white out of position peg.the second yellow peg thats hidden does not match the white but it has another ball matching out of position so you should get four pegs. You have to look at every hidden peg one by one and see if it was matched by the player directly or indirectly. Three balls were match directly and that second yellow ball was matched in directly thus four pegs not three. It took us several hours to figure out the scoring from the original game when it was first put out about 30 years ago.
…so long as the leaderboard is not artificially manipulated. We started playing Mastermind 42 years ago in college. It was a welcome break from studies for us and our college roommates. And it helped keep our analytical minds sharp. Today, we play it daily, and find that it keeps our mind occupied in retirement. Our only concern with this app is that Ive noticed that a few players happen to miraculously jump several poItons overnight on the leaderboard. Perhaps this is real, but o find it very difficult for any person to advance more than 300,000 points so rapidly. We will continue to play so long as we dont see such unusual behavior in the future. Should we see it again, this review could certainly change.
Perhaps not meant to be easy… Would like more tries on the easy option, however. Particularly for younger players this would be a nice option.
It would be better if you could store games… Or replay games… Or share games… It would be better if there were a coaching feature… Or strategy analysis… Or feedback about code-breaking… It would be better if the scoring system were explained. Is time a factor? This is a good game, but there are a lot of ways to make it better.

It doesnt seem that theres a way to change the pieces while youre figuring it out. Other than that, its great.
We cannot go back and change a piece we placed for a different color before we touch OK for that row. Previously this worked fine. The game needs a fix update. This is using iOS 14.2.1.
The game is super fun and we love to play it!! But… We dont like how to have lives like you gotta buy them or watch a vid to keep playing could you please fix that.
The directions say we can put the peg wherever we want it and that we can replace one peg with another, but in actual play we have to start on the left and go in order. Very frustrating, so we finally deleted it.
Once you put legs in there is no way to change the color or remove. Directions say you can but we are not able to select a peg to change.
Good game! We like that its just like the original board game. Unfortunately many of our plays have crashed forcing us to quit one in three or four games. We cant replace or move a peg once placed. This pretty much ruins the game because the only fix is to delete the app & reinstall. Other than that its perfect so we hope this gets fixed.
Love the logic in this game. Only issue is when we mess up a color and want to switch it, its not allowing us to select another space iPhone 11 iOS 14.2.
You should let the players be able to see the board still after they lose so that they can see their mistakes. Also the game sometimes glitches and doesnt allow to change colors.
Functionality of replacing a ball is broken.
By easy you would expect 4 different colors but it isnt so. The east level is very difficult.
Fun game, but we almost feel as if the easy setting is harder than the hard setting. You have fewer slots to fill, but fewer moves to do it in. As a result, we find ourselves running out of moves more frequently in easy.
We have the board game version but that was really easy this is much more difficult so if your looking for a challenge then get this game. Also it is very easy against a 7 year old haha.
After you choose but before you press ok you cant change the balls. So that is irritating. Every thing else is awesome.
We love this game! The only thing that would make it perfect would be if we were able to connect it to Facebook so we can play against our friends. Playing against the computer is only fun for so long.
