Touch Pianist – Tap in Rhythm and Perform Your Favourite Music – Music Game Review
![]()
Touch Pianist – Tap in Rhythm and Perform Your Favourite Music is a Music/Music game from Batuhan Bozkurt, first launched in 7th May 2015.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 106+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Touch Pianist – Tap in Rhythm and Perform Your Favourite Music Stand Out
Tap on the screen and magically perform beautiful music!
Touch Pianist is a musical toy / instrument that allows the user to perform hard-to-play classical piano music favorites (from composers like Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Satie, Debussy to name a few) just by tapping the rhythm of the piece's particular sound events on a computer keyboard or a touch screen.
It also provides live visualisation of the pieces that are being performed. There is no score keeping, the user is free to perform the music in any way they wish. The premise is that it is really fun to perform a piece you know well, exactly like you feel it with so little effort.
Touch Pianist has CoreMIDI support so you can use your favorite piano / sound plug-in in your computer as a sound source if you wish.
Some of the highlights from the included pieces:
Debussy – Clair de Lune
Beethoven – Moonlight Sonata (All movements)
Erik Satie – Gymnopédies (1, 2 and 3)
Chopin – Most popular pieces, and all 24 preludes
Bach – Well Tempered Klavier Book 1 (All preludes and fugues)
Beethoven – Pathetique Sonata (All movements)
Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Brahms, Schumann and many, many more! Playing them is extremely fun, and no prior musical skill is needed. Give it a try and you'll see.
This Music game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Community Insight:
We like the game a lot but the only thing is that we're a minor and we have an iPad and there's no Dot's.
Ok devs we know u left your game abandoned but just this try to make the game notes or balls load Im on the brand new iPad and they dont work please fix it.
For the last few days the screen was messed up we love the game its really good but do you think you could fix it.
Okay. We get the game needs money to be free. BUT IF we HAVE TO PAY FOR THE WHOLE GAME(yes we know the first movement of moonlight sonata is free) we would rather pay up front immediately. Our bank account got closed for buying too much. You need to make something free. P.S. Rating 5 star so it doesent go to the end of the lineup.
This app never grows old because it facilitates playing emotionally expressive music. We think that Ive learned about ourselves by playing these pieces.
We like the app a lot but could you please add Chopins etude op 10 no 1.
Absolutely fabulous! We play on our patio on under the air traffic and nobody minds us blasting poorly played classical music. So much fun we paid for the total unlock. Now our neighbor, (a retired high school music teacher) wants to know how we learned to play. Nyuk nyuk nyuk.
Amazing app ,we bought the add free version and all the other songs to be unlocked .new additions would be much appreciated.
Pls bohemian rhapsody, it's our favorite song.
We've spent hours playing classical tunes on this. So much fun.
We like the game but its like you have to buy all the song because when we went to school earlier. We did not need to buy them and there is nothing on the screen so please update it.
We stumbled upon this app through our pc, which was wonderful to play on. We bought this for by iPad and was disappointed in the fact we had to pay for extra songs but did it anyway. Soon after we got it, the visuals disappeared when our iPad updated. We love this app. Recommendation: know the music before you play it. Thats why you can watch the computer play it (only by ear because of lost visual keys).
Ive had permission at school (Im a minor) to play this on our school laptops, the images of the visuals showed up perfectly fine and there wasnt much lag. But after we downloaded this at home on our Apple IPad and clicked on the tutorial song, the visuals were just a dark blue void (but still playable). We liked seeing the notes and chords we would be playing instead of tapping blindly at our screen. It was calming and fun to play on our school laptop, seeing all the soft colors on the screen and only having to click. But on our iPad it was frustrating and not calming because we were more used to something ACTUALLY on the screen, its just kinda disappointing to us. You dont have to listen to this but if your downloading on mobile, be prepared for a literal void of clicking with music and no visuals.
This, for the longest time, was our comfort app. Whenever we were sad or anxious, we would open it and play a song. We even requested Scenes from Childhood and they added it! Unfortunately, as the years have gone by, the images no longer apear clearly (theyre super glitchy) and the sound is sometimes odd. We wish there would be an update every so often so we could keep using this without all the glitches.
Nice way to introduce piano music to grand children. Personally, we would like the option of seeing the actual notes as a possible additional purchase.
This app really helps with tempo and relaxation but unlike our Chromebook, it doesnt show us playing it on our phone. It would also be nice if we had more songs to play, maybe if you watched an AD to unlock the songs so that the game still produces money while being more enjoyable.
So we were gonna play the tutorial, but the notes are not loading, please fix it.
We confused and we dont know what happend. When we played on our chrome it showed us a song to play but when we downloaded it on our IPad it showed a dark blue screen? We dont know if thats how its supposed to be, and we dont know how to select other songs or if we can only play the selected song. We hope some one can find a solution.
You can tap and hear the music but theres no visuals on the app to guide the timing like on the website. Seems like it must be a bug.
The dots wont show up and its so annoying and ruins it for us.
No color dots show to guide the music like it does on the website.
This is really fun on the website (http://touchpianist.com) but the app doesn't appear to work. Looking at the logs, it looks like there are some TLS handshake errors. We suspect the app is trying to go and download some resources, but maybe the certificate expired or the CDN stopped supporting TLS 1.0/1.1 or something like that. "(43) [C6.1.1:2][0x13831da10] Error: 5237776456:error:1000042e:SSL routines:OPENSSL_internal:TLSV1_ALERT_PROTOCOL_VERSION:/AppleInternal/Library/BuildRoots/8ca92091-1d5a-11ee-a938-46d450270006/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/boringssl/ssl/tls_record.cc:594:SSL alert number 70".
We want to buy the full package, but as others have mentioned, we can only see a dark blue screen and no notes. If its updated appropriately, id come back and buy.
Youre obviously aware of the issues with dark screens. Fix it or youre basically ripping people off.
We don't mind ads on a free app, but these ads are awful. Every time you go back to the main menu you get an ad and every ad has video. And since you have the sound turned up to hear the app the video is really loud. Our choices are buy a song or delete the app. It really feels like bait and switch to have to pay to get rid of an unpleasant experience.
With the newest iOS on an iPhone SE 2020, this apps visuals are completely inoperable. While you can still play the pieces, unless you have them memorized, you simply cant play them properly anymore. Loved this game for years, but cannot currently recommend to anyone in the slightest due to its abandonment.
Many problems with this app. The worst: #1 there's a significant problem with the sound; #2 there has been no new music added in an extraordinary long time. Don't waste your time or money on this app. Apple should remove it.
Bought the whole music pack and it erased our purchases with the update.
This was once a nice app, but it hasn't been updated in over a year and it's broken. The sound that comes out is distorted gibberish. We wish we could get our money back for the song packs we bought that are now unplayable.
Audio is full of static. We want to love this app, but it's riddled with ads too.
Every time we played, the sound was horrible! But our sound was just fine when we look at YouTube, but when we open the app, it sounds really bad.
We bought this app along with a music pack, since then the music is off key and full of static. Completed updates and the problem still exists. We feel like we've thrown our $$$ away.
Just downloaded this to express our disgust that this was ported to phones when they took out a ton of songs from the original browser site all for some ad revenue.
We've never used an app that's so full of ads and on top of that wants to nickel and dime you for content. Seriously, we don't think the developers realize this whole app is worth a one time $0.99 at best.
The PC version of this comes with all packs unlocked, no need to pay for anything. Maybe it's because cause nothing new will be coming to that platform, but packs that are available for free on PC cost money on the mobile app. Utterly ridiculous. The app itself on PC is amazing and peaceful but we cannot enjoy on mobile what we do on our PC. For this, barely 1 star.
What a cool tool for learning expression. Fun to show off.
One of the best apps we've downloaded in a long time! It's so relaxing to listen to moonlight sonata when you just want something sincere to listen to. Our only annoyance though is that the game lags on occasion. But other than that, it's perfect.
There was a moment at the beginning of the first piece when we thought, "It's just tapping?" Then a minute later, we were smiling to ourselves at how great an experience it was, and couldn't stop till we got to the end of the piece. It even made us want to listen to different performances to see how others interpreted it, and it helped us to connect to classical music in a new way. Really, really fun and great. A word about in-app purchases and ads. This is exactly how to do both. There are over 100 pieces currently available, and one or two from each composer, can be played for FREE. There is a short ad after each piece (not before, by the way, which is nice) , and ALL ads are removed with any ($0.99) purchase. This app is pretty much perfection. We can't wait to show it to more people.
So, we just got this app and we love it, but now there's no sound! What's up with that? We'd love it if you guys could fix this and then we could actually hear what we're playing. We're on an iPod touch 5th gen by the way. Thanks.
We really enjoy this app. We've never really enjoyed games or anything of the sort on our phone but have tons of other apps. We really love this app. We would love to be able to bookmark favorite tunes. Also being able to rewind to try a part of a song again would be nice. It'd also be nice to be able to watch songs while in the game mode and toggle between modes without going back a menu. Thank you though. This app is a new favorite.
We've downloaded hundreds of apps and this is the first one we've ever reviewed. As a classical music fan who can't play advanced piano, this makes us feel like we're playing the pieces. Controlling tempo and dynamics is enough to achieve a surprising degree of expressiveness. Some pieces are challenging to perfect too, adding a video game like element. Our only complaint is that ever since the last update, the app fails to register taps once in a while on our iPhone 5S, which is incredibly frustrating. Please fix! Without that issue this would be a five star app.
We love the web browser version so we wanted to get the App version… But there's no sound. The ads play sound perfectly fine but when you try to play a piece, no sound comes out.
We enjoyed the browser version, but even with the latest update, we still get no sound out of our iPad Air. We've tried twiddling and toggling the options to no avail. Bummer. Would rate 5 stars if the sound worked.
We're a classical music lover who always wished they could play the piano. While this app isn't the same as being a concert pianist, it's very satisfying in its own way. Great work.
It almost feels like a game. Very relaxing.
Please add Fur Elise and Beetovens 5th.
We just got this app yesterday. We've never reviewed an app before, but this one deserves it. Before we heap praise upon it, we will say that we're a largely self-taught young musician who plays five instruments; music has always been a huge part of our life. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius. Technology makes this amazing dream possible: untrained musicians can easily experience the joy of playing beautiful pieces. Without worrying about hitting the right notes, users can control the really artistic and important parts of the music: timing and dynamics. The app shows that classical music is personal and alive, not dusty and rigid. (Very intuitive user interface, too, by the way.) we would gladly head an initiative to require this app in public school music classes. Get rid of the screechy recorder lessons and let them play with awesome classical pieces! Only the in-your-face ads and in-app purchases annoy us. We'll probably upgrade from the free version at some point. We love "playing" the more complicated pieces that would take us ages to learn on piano. Bottom line is, no matter your experience in music or lack thereof, try out this app!! Thanks for bearing with us on this fawning review. At the risk of sounding extreme, this has the potential to change lives. Bravo.
Surprisingly fun yet some challenge too. We look forward to additional song selection.
We were on the computer version, saw that this was a mobile app, and immediately downloaded it.
We love the creation! However, there is no sound in iPad.
