What Makes Mr. Doodle! Stand Out
Mr. Doodle! is a modern adaptation of the famous retro 80's arcade. The concept of the game is very simple – your task is to go through all the levels, gaining points by killing monsters and collecting bonuses!
The main character, funny runner Mr. Doodle will not stop before achieve his goal – to run away from pesky opponents and to collect all the fruits in a cave. By digging the ground, he skillfully avoids collisions with monsters, leading them into a trap, and eliminates the enemies by dropping apples on their heads. But be careful, the number of apples is limited, can you calculate everything correctly and help Mr. Doodle to pass the level ?!
In this game you will:
- Collect all the cherries, which are counted in the score;
- For every 5,000 points in the game appears Alfa-monster, you need to eliminate him;
- Kill all Alfa-monsters and spell with their letters the word EXTRA;
- Receive a gift of an extra life!
- Special treasure: did you find a diamond hidden inside apple?
Modern graphics accompanied by the typical 8-bit melodies and sound effects. This combination is an indispensable complement to this fun and challenging puzzle!
Controls:
You can choose between 4 different control types (from in-game menu):
1) Swipe & Tap (by default). Swipe any where on the screen with your finger in direction you want to move, then release finger to stop. Short tap any where to fire. You can also fire while running, just tap with your second finger while holding down the first (i.e. two fingers down = fire).
2) Joystick A. Classic type of onscreen joystick, where d-pad is intended to move in four directions. D-pad is in the bottom left, and the Fire button is in the bottom right corner of the screen.
3) Joystick B. Alternate onscreen joystick. Buttons are split. Left/Right buttons are in the bottom left, and Up/Down/Fire buttons are in the bottom right corner of the screen.
4) If you have MFI compatible gamepad device (like Logitech Powershell, Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i etc.) connected to your iPhone/iPad, you can use it with this game to feel all the beauty of playing this retro arcade game with a real joystick device!

Community Insight:
This is a very nice adaptation of the original, which is unfortunately unobtainable these days. Using a Bluetooth controller is a must. Thank goodness this game supports it. We have come across a lot of retro games that dont and they are unplayable.
It took getting used to the controls but ya got to remember it's a touch screen no joystick. It's great for passing time. We love it.
Maybe when we get used to it Ill be able to play better.
All the nostalgia of the original mr do, but because it's all touch movement you really do a quick turn and shoot when you're being chased like with a joystick. Learning curve? Oh well.
Where is the option? As with others, the controls are horrible but with an icade controller its precise. Good quality game just like the original.
The game is very fun but as mentioned in some previous reviews if you are playing on a small screen it is hard to control.
EXCELLENT GAME! The reviews talking about bad controls are too harsh. The controls are swipe to move and tap to throw the power ball. Once you get used to them, they are more than adequate. We scored over 2,000,000 and had full lives so the control criticism is overdone. We left off one star because once you get high up into the game the challenge is done. The game adds more enemies, but the speed of the game never increases to add that extra level of difficulty. As is, this is a VERY GOOD homage to Mr. Do. Thank you Dmitrij Pavlov for a wonderful reminder of arcade days gone by.
Controls are not crisp, but great to see this resurrection of the greatest arcade game of the 1980s.
We think this game has potential and could be a great homage to the original if the controls were improved. As it stands now, they are not sufficient for fast direction changes and lend one to frequently block the view of the action. We cannot get far enough into the game to have any feedback to level design. Love to see a lab update to this that improves controls.
We found this today searching for mr do! Mr Do! Was an arcade game from the 1980s. We were Happy we found this but controls are tough.
Controls could be better, it would help if Mr Doodle was smaller ( equal in size to the paths) to get the correct time to turn. Good sound on iPhone, but no sound on iPad.
There are times when we get the "main" treat to summon an EXTRA character and the green cronies and the screen goes dark. We're unable to determine where we can go, based on where we've been. We're "flying blind" and can't navigate properly.
We were not impressed we like the video game more.
This was one of our favorite games on the Colecovision system. This would be the perfect remake except the touch controls are very poor. Takes some getting used to.
Don't us on the way the E X T R A move and don't get smashed on and sometimes the ball going through them without stopping the little 's — plus the isn't the best find ever and it lost its magic like it had in the original. IT SHOWS UP WAY TOO OFTEN for a measly 8000 points and simply a gateway to the next scene.
Like the previous review, it's really hard to control the direction. We're using it on a iPad & still not having much success. Hopefully it gets corrected.
You cannot move with adequate speed and precision, guiding Mr Doodle with your finger on the screen. Frustration is maddenimg.
This is a copy of one of our favorite games. Too bad it's almost unplayable. What a shame and a waste of money.
We were thrilled to see this vintage game and didn't even think about paying for it. Then we tried to play many times. The finger touch control is terrible. We can't get the clown to turn fast enough or sharp enough. This MAY be ok on an iPad, but we don't have a pad to try it. IT SHOULD NOT BE SOLD FOR iPhone.
This game has the worst controls we have ever seen on the iPhone too bad because we use to love the original Mr. Do.
We are very happy to find a Mr. Do game for the iPhone but the joystick takes up too much real estate on the screen. There are three options for controls but we cannot play well with any of them.
