Community Insight:
The game R Type Dimensions has a whole lot of cool features. We can use the slow mode and it eases the difficulty during gameplay. It also makes passing through harder stages less tight. We can also use the fast paced feature if we want to pass through the east stages. That is why the game is so fun.
R-Type as we remember it. But with a 3D option and freshened music. Its not full screen because the game was 4×3. The remixed music sounds cool, its still MIDI (which has charm), but the tempo of the songs is a little too fast (level 1:2 should be more ponderous, not a dance song). The 3D graphics are actually 2.5D. Parallax scrolling backgrounds, some reflections, and more shading. The ships have depth R-Type 3 would be a welcome addition. Now can we try R-Type tactics on our iPhone? Gripes, a ability to resize Fire/Force buttons would be welcome. BUG: Holding down rhe fire button at the beginning of play makes joystick not work. Release button & move joystick will clear that up. IPhone 11.
The game handles quite well, even with touch controls. If you like R-Type and are on the fence because youre unsure about the mobile experience, we say go for it. Sure, it doesnt match the experience of a proper setup, but its a cool way to experience the classics while youre away from your CRT.
Love the game. Please add controller support. The only way to play R-Type at the beginning and how we like to play it is with a joystick! Go play the Turbographx 16 R-Type to figure out what is missing.
Its not full screen and very short.
Very nice remake, unfortunately doesnt support gamepads. If it did, it would be a 5* game to us. Download/purchase the Dotemu versions for gamepad support.
Game seems good from what we can tell, but the lack of controller support means we definitely regret buying this.
