We love the music and the narration is top notch. Really adds to the ambience. We would really appreciate landscape mode for the iPad.
We really enjoy the app, but our minor pet peeve is that every time theres an update, it erases our already downloaded offline voice recordings. Please change that if possible.
Its free, it supports all the content, it has good voice-over work and music, and it integrates well with the game (a particular diplomacy encounter in Fall of Avalon 3A is a good example) while helping to avoid spoilers. Yes the interface is a bit clunky and needing to take our phone off of silent makes no sense. But Im highly appreciative of it and use it in every play. 4*.
Can not get app to work after last app.
The app is excellent with only one irritating point: it will not play audio through the device speakers if your device is muted. This behavior is inconsistent with other apps with audio in them e.g. YouTube will play audio/videos fine using device speaker if device has notification noises disabled. It is irritating to switch mute on and off you want the app to play the narration but you have turned off notification sounds during your gaming session because you dont want distracting noises while you are trying to play a tabletop game.
Been super nice to have as we play through the game! Honestly couldnt have asked for more out of a companion app.
The exploration journal has now been updated to 2.0 for those that got the reprinted/updated journals.
We would love to be able to have the audio actually support the phone audio system / controls so we can pipe the audio to our airplay devices.
We really enjoy the app it does everything we could hope and would expect to improve QOL however, our only feedback is early on in the starting location 101 (small spoiler ahead) the rest at home option in the app for a fully lit Menhir gives you 2 health and -2 terror while the 2.0 journal gives you 4 health and -3 terror. This makes us have to have the book and app out so that we can be sure of the values which defeats some of the point. Overall though Im okay with doing this since it doesnt take away from the atmosphere, voice over experience, and quick reference capabilities (after confirming) provided.
It boggles our mind that the app does not support landscape mode! Thats the normal mode on iPads when you stand them on the table. Please please implement landscape.
Definitely helps playing solo as it keeps us from making some basic mistakes. This will be very handy for running games at cons.
Only giving it a 4/5 stars because the app doesnt switch to landscape view, which is a real bummer for the iPad, seeing how the iPad is standing landscape from its case. Maybe there will be a landscape view in the future, which at that point Ill switch our 4/5 stars to 5 stars. Great music. Great for its beginning stages, able to follow the games journal while not revealing accidental spoilers.
