A really fun competitive game. We enjoy it. Amazing fun! When you get to a certain level, it is level based.
We love this game. We would play all day. However, they choose which players are matched and which games they play. So, although we have 50 games pending, Ive gone 24+ hours without being matched and am collecting refunds for games unmatched since last week. Meanwhile, players at the top of the leaderboard have played and won more than 100 games. We have games in queue from a week ago. They claim to match players based on skill. Untrue because we have played and beaten most of the players at the top of the leaderboard. What theyre doing is matching players to lose. They make us play one player almost 90% of the time. Tournament winners should be the best players in randomly matched games. Anything else is rigged. If they want to match players of equal skill level, they need tournaments for each level. We spent more than 6 months complaining that we were playing mismatched games and begging for refunds before they fixed that bug. We stuck with them, winning, and cashing out, topping the leader board. Odd that we cant even play now.
They are SCAM. We just deposited then we got email that we were banned without any reason. Better not deposit to this scam app.

The old version that allowed you to play as many rounds as possible was a significantly better game. It really pushed you to quickly enter words faster and faster, and limiting it to only 5 rounds is so boring; there really is no point in going fast anymore.

This new update is stupid and makes the game less competitive.
The latest update has made this into a completely different game. You used to get through as many rounds as possible in 30 seconds + bonus time. Now its 5 rounds for everyone so its all about being super careful and scores are all very close. Bring back the old version.
Was forced to update the game to new version – theyve changed the game flow completely! Absolutely dislike it.
Its a great game but it became so boring with the latest update! Before you: -Had 30 seconds to go through as many rounds as you can -Earned some extra seconds if you completed first couple of rounds super fast -Were not penalised for wrong letter combinations (lets say if you wanted to make word love but had accidentally made loev) Now you: -Only have 5 rounds to go through -Do not earn extra seconds -Get penalised for wrong words/combinations The game totally lacks element of excitement now! Before you were eager to see your and opponents final score and see how was able to get through more rounds and words. Now you are just worried of accidentally tapping wrong letters and lower your score because of penalties. You also know theres only 5 levels max, so there is no point of rushing.. We used to play every day non-stop when we had free time, but now we dont even feel like playing.
Need to be fast, Im not but enjoy playing.

This app is really fun for people who like games like Scrabble or Boggle. We like that we dont have to spend a lot to play, and the competition does seem very fair. If we just wanna play without betting we can do that too, which is nice since we really like word games like this. Definitely recommend.
Ive played a couple of similar games over the last two years, but never found one as fast paced as Word Star. The only thing we wish was there is a way to see the words you missed when time runs out.

Needs bugs worked out and hoping more players join. We love word games and this is the fourth Skillz supported game we play for money.
Its truly a shame that the game developers of this game chose Skillz to host their game. The app is great but the opponent matching is problematic even when youre completely outskilled, matches are paired nonstop against the same player with a track record of winning against you. Over 25 consecutive matches against the SAME player is nothing short of harassment. Unfortunately, Skillz customer support is the absolute worst and consists of those who only know how to copy and paste the same unhelpful answers. They really ought to review the factssupported by dataand admit to the fact that their algorithmic matching is completely flawed. Skillz should be audited by a third party as they are far too negligent and unwilling to review the facts.

The game is really fun, but has a couple of issues. We have played about 20 games. We win most of the practice games, and seem to be within an expected point spread with our opponent – winning or losing by a few hundred to five or ten thousand. However, venture into the cash games and we get slaughtered. Our opponent in the last game we played prior to giving this review beat us 120k to our 62k. Someone needs to check the algorithm. This happened five times. The fun for us is in the cash games so Im going to have to come back to this one when we have more money to burn. Its too tight at the moment to see if it equals out the more we play. The second issue may be the reason our opponent was able to beat us so handily. The puzzles began to repeat themselves even though we have only played a few. Someone who has played for several days might just have had a chance to memorize them all.
Time bonus limit update is only working on some accounts, not all. We know this to be a fact because we watched someone else play at the same time. So some people are winning all the time because theyre not limited. We were forced to update, but this other person wasnt, maybe because of a different OS. Either way, its not a fair match unless everyone is updated.
This game used to be fantastic before that asinine update from yesterday got installed! We wish someone from this game could get rid of it and convert this game to how it used to be.
