Community Insight:

Don't need to explain best game ever.

The game seems nice at the start but the ad placement on the farm is super jarring and then you open chests that you have saved up fish points for you are forced to watch an ad and when you catch a resource crate you have the option to watch an ad to get more resources but the crates are so rare they it seems worth it to watch the ad. Its just way too immersion breaking.

While the beginning of the game presents great graphics and exceptionally user friendly mechanics, it is ultimately outweighed by the currency system and timeline to continue in the story. When fishing and going through the mind numbing process of upgrading the various structures needed to progress, it takes forever to earn enough runes to do so. Its absurd that low level fish still swim at lower levels with higher star fish. Meaning you can spend hours just trying to avoid small fish and losing bait, to creep along. Unless you want to spend hours of grinding in frustration, avoid the game. The beginning is nice, but the game shows quickly that does not allow progressive gameplay. Players with skill are not rewarded.

We understand the need for compensation for your time in programming and development. However your constant bombardment with ads for every action is literally killing the enjoyment of your works , thus driving your potential revenue stream away. Good bye and we really hope you understand how you are killing your own game. For what we could play was interesting but not enjoyable.

The game is fun, and would be 5 stars if it wasnt for persistent ads and trying to manipulate you to log in daily with fomo. We paid to get rid of video ads. That helped. But we want all ads gone. This game still feels like free to play slop even after you pay. Lame.

Super slow. Pretty repetitive. Clearly they would like you to spend money on the game. We think they just make it as slow and boring as possible to make you either quit or spend money. Safe to skip this one.

Love everything about the game, just had one idea: instead of catching lower fish to make bait and instantly use it, could the devs make it so you could store it? Just a thought.

Enjoyed the game, we felt it was well worth paying to remove the ads. We didnt finish the entire game but still felt it was worth the download. Theres no pressure to compete everything. You can stay in the beginning area as long as you like and progress as you see fit.

This game is super fun but it needs to be easier to level up and be able to hold more fish on the line.

This game is very nice for those who enjoy repetitive gameplay. We unfortunately am not one of those people. We saw several reviews saying game was unplayable after a couple days; we havent had the app for that long and overall not that many bugs/issues with the game itself just the type of game it is for us.

This game was fun and all when we downloaded it, but the concept is repetitive: go fishing, earn runes, and upgrade your supplies and shelter with them. If you like that kind of stuff, go for it! We just like changes once in a while, so the game became a bit dull for us. Its a simple but pretty game, smooth graphics and amazing artwork. The creators deserve a round of applause for this game because most games don't even work on their graphics and art style, and its like one of the only games we could download on our old iphone but yeah, feel free to download it, but just be warned that it could get boring after a while, but theres no harm in playing! :) have fun.

Some of the ads are broken and you cant click out of them.

We or more like our mom got us the bait package 3 we would like to actually have it we do not have the bait that was in the package.

We dont like the fact that you dont have much control of your Line so you get stuck catching the same fish over and over or when you do have a high level fish the lower level fish eat it before you can get to the bottom where the big fish are if you dont change anything else Id say make so the small level fish are unable to to eat the higher levels.

Its been more than 6 months, and still enjoying the game. Unlike some other developers, when you pay to remove adds, they remove all adds. Just wish you did not have to click to skip each time. Suggestion: Create a cooler that can be built to store your catch to use as bait later! Much like the fish farm, you can expand slots. Just a thought :).

So, loved the game so much we decided to go ahead and purchase the game to increase Production and try to get past the 2nd Sea to fish in (our House, Farm, etc are Maxed) So after we get to Alter Level 34 (in order to Max out the Farm), we cant get any more Alter Points. The only fish left we cant catch say we need to be at Alter Level 62 !?!?? Id like to move to the 3rd Sea, but cant find the Giant Whale anywhere needed to move forward. So, we finally purchase the game, and now Im just spinning our wheels unable to go anywhere.

  1. You can get to the second Island but after that is IMPOSSIBLE to get to the third. You will have to fish level 2-3-4 fishes 1000s times to upgrade all your fishing equipment to reach the length and depth to find the gray whale which unlocks level 3. 2. You must spend at least $2.99 to $5.999 to be able to play and have a chance to get to the second Island. 3. Needs major updates: fish tanks are useless. 4. In addition to the runes (which you get when you catch a fish) you need supplies (wood, iron, nails), you can get them little by little when fishing or you can watch Ads to double, triple the amount. Its a bad experience 5. Dont want Ads? You have to pay for it. 6. Upgrading buildings is highly expensive 7. If you want to catch big fish that provides more runes, you need to acquire sinkers, minows, and other items. The runes you end up getting from fish level 3-4-5 doesnt pay the cost of the extra equipment you need to buy. Good things: beautifully designed (minimalist), calming music, great potential to become a 5-star app, but without these fixes its a 2/5. We will stop playing after two weeks and wait for an update.

Very good!! Sometimes the adds wont play to multiply gifts. Also, it would be great to use the fishes in the fishing net as bait Otherwise, good game.

Easy enough to entertain our kinder kid for a while. Excited for the next expansion :).

We actually really love this game and got our son to play it too. We were really enjoying it but was horrified to have ads with big, busty panting women and the literal letters NSFW on the ad. Look, if you want those ads thats fine, but then dont say that this game is appropriate for ages four and up.

For almost every thing there is to do in this game there is an ad wall. Of course you can make a purchase to go ad free, but is there enough fun here for that? IMO no.

This game is amazing but it has a couple of problems for us, First, we have been playing for three days and it restarted our daily streak, we dont know if you have fixed this. Moving on Some stuff is WAY to expensive, like when we want to buy a wood plank we have to go fishing At least a million times! At least make it a little less expensive. Heres our ideas, we think when its night you have to go to bed and you wake up in the morning, next we think that there should be at least one other thing to do ( even though the whole game is about fishing), we think that you should be able to go inside of your house and decorate it. Im not sure if you guys did do any of this already Because we havent played the whole game, thanks for reading, we LOVE UR GAME.

It will be so much better if it had controller support.

Great game. Gameplay and graphics are great. And not a ton of forced ad gymnastics, but they are there if you want bonuses.

First off, we really dont like most modern in-app purchase heavy games. We are very happy that for Casting Away we were able to buy the remove ads one time and just play after that. Its very fun, a little challenging, a little repetitive. But you can spend as much or as little time on the game, its not very frustrating. As others have said, its really fairly relaxing. We think whatever crashing issue other reviewers posted about have been fixed.

We're enjoying the game quite a lot so far. It's very meditative and we love that it doesn't take "energy" or "gems" or whatever to catch fish. We can just keep casting the line over and over, which is what pushed the game into five stars and justifying buying ad-free for us. It's fun seeing and catching all the different kinds of fish and trying to work our way up to getting the fish way at the bottom. The art is pleasing and the fish designs are really cute. We do think it would be a good feature if we were able to use the fish in the fishing net as bait as well, instead of having to decide immediately after catching the fish whether or not to use it as bait.

Really fun game but will randomly freeze or crash about once an hour. Maybe the solution is to play it for less than an hour at a time lol.

This game was really fun for the first two weeks. We loved the mechanics, explored deeper into the ocean, and caught blue whales pretty often, but it got really boring one day. All of a sudden, all we did in this game was collect the daily prize, and just repeated afterwards. We didnt really feel like fishing anymore. It just needed something else, there was too much fishing in this game. We understand that the base of the game is fishing and the literal name of the game is called casting away, but it was just way too repetitive. Could you make it so that you could explore more on land and build more structures? Please take this into consideration.

Love this game! We think it has so much potential. It would be cool if a crop field was added, and if you could produce fish meal in the farm for yore fish farm/tank. Would also be cool if you could raise/breed fish to use as bait/food source. Crashes sometimes, but this is rare and infrequent.

Would give it 5 stars if we could harvest right when you first catch a fish, the ability to use fish as bait from the net and if we could stack at least 2-3 buffs from food.

We love the game, its very easy and relaxing. But the fish are annoying us. You bait your fish with a high level one only to get a very low grade one. We know thats part of the challenge but its still very annoying. The low grade fish are on the top so obviously theyre gong to get the bait before our line sinks down to where the higher level fish are. Also, in the fishing bag, we hate how you can only use everything once. Its annoying that we bait our line with a high grade bait, and then only get a low grade fish in return because they see it first.

This game is really really fun in the beginning. Everything worked perfect and we were having an amazing time until day 3. On the third day of having this app every single time we would catch a new fish the app would crash. The app would pause & keep playing music (after we clear it off our phone). Then when we would go to log back on; it didnt even record the new fish we just caught. We tried it at least 4 times & every single time it crashed. We really wanted this app to work. It would be a really relaxing & enjoyable game if they would fix the bugs, but after awhile its just not worth it.

We find the forced tutorials in games annoying. Ive just discovered fishing, let us fish. Why do we have to explore every facet immediately though a tutorial that gives no autonomy? Couldnt make it through the intro. Might be a fun game, but if youre impatient you may end up the same road as us and quit within minutes.

Fun game but crashes to much. Needs a fix.

Very fun and relaxing game at its core. The gameplay feels gratifying in the early levels, but quickly plateaus before eventually turning into a grind. After reading other reviews, we can see that many others feel the same. Around level 60 the upgrades become so expensive that it takes days/weeks worth of catching the same fish just to advance one level. Its disappointing because the game was pretty fun to play as a quick time killer. But at this point the enjoyment is tapped out. Im keeping the game installed with the hope that the developer continues to support it and make changes.

This game is literally great. Relaxing music, clear system of progression not too hard but rewarding. We really cant believe theres forced ads. What a buzzkill. The only way to turn a great game into a 3 star is forcing ads. We get you need to make money, but we think quality sells itself.

Its a fun game at its core and the graphics are really beautiful. We got our husband hooked on this game and he already is a higher level than we are. Issues we have for the developers are that when we get the daily rewards and we get a pizza or a bbq skewer, we dont know where they go! The food buff is not activated, and they are not at our house (we have to buy the food if we want to eat it). Thats the main issue we are having. The fishing is getting a little bit old because money is hard to get and then you cant level up your rod to catch bigger fish. Also, we feel like we shouldnt lose our bait if we didnt catch a fish?? Nothing ate it so it makes more sense to keep it.

Cute and relaxing game but it makes our whole phone lag. Unfortunately Im gonna have to uninstall it.

Give ability to upgrade the bait. Maybe with the dock, but make it possible to never have one star bait. By the time youre at a level 50 rod, reel and line, level three dock, then you have the professional fishing boat, you have to catch the right level fish and slowly upgrade the bait one level at a time to catch a big one and youve been casting like mad and youre almost there and a one star spawns in at the perfect moment Then you have a one star bait again. Then you play solitaire. We dont even think you have the option to use real money to upgrade the bait.

What is the point of having so many fish you can catch but only being able to keep a low percentage in the two aquariums? More aquariums are needed if we are going to continue playing this game.

Pros: – A good mindless game to pass time when you need a break from using your brain – Excellent soundtrack – Very calming Cons: – Unplayable when you dont have the buff that all bait starts at two stars – Incredibly frustrating to work your way up to three or four stars just to have a one-star fish nab it.

The game honestly is fun and its the game that you can get addicted to easily but every lets say 30 minutes the game just crashes and you have to restart it the ads are understandable but if the game is gonna break every 30 minutes atleast make the ads take longer to pop up.

We like the idea of the game, and we love the graphics and that there are so many different areas to unlock upgrades in (home, farm, fishing gear, etc). This sounds counterintuitive but our main problem with the game is that the ads in the free version dont work. You can watch ads to do things like speed up food production and, most importantly, get 3x or 4x more resources when you find a treasure box. But every time we try to watch an ad we get the error message that ad cannot load right now which means we cant take advantage of any of those things. If this was fixed the game would be perfect.

Without any updates, it suddenly stopped working and is just a black screen. Cant be played anymore. Oh well.

Overall an ok time waster. Hate the bait system though. It cost way to much to craft tiny little lures. Oh and the whole, we cant catch this type of fish because we dont have that rarity of bait..it gets old fast.

We just download this game, we mean we just get past the tutorial and its already crashed twice. Im just playing the game and then we freezes for a little while and then crashes and kicks us out. We love the idea of the game but we wish it had less bugs. Its annoying us and Im thinking about deleting the game, please fix this issue.

Basically we had a lot of progress on this game and we were already level 14 in the entire island but our brother as a way to get us mad uninstalls all our games and we downloaded this game again and none of progress saved so it was just a waste of time.

    Game doesnt support backbone controller.

Impossible to move up in the game without them, but sometimes Im getting back to back ads. We mean seriously 3 ads in a row? When Ive already watched maybe 10-15 in a 30 minute session? So fun and we love the concept but jeez.
