What Makes Gamebook Companion Stand Out

With the Gamebook Companion you can play all your favourite old school (and new edition) gamebooks on the go with this handy app. Store your SKILL, STAMINA, LUCK and equipment, battle monsters and roll dice in the easy to use and convenient layout.

Swipe left and right to navigate between the following screens:

Character Sheet

On this screen you can set your scores for SKILL, STAMINA, LUCK and another seven user defined stats. Click on the icons to change them to one of 18 different choices.

The top five stats can all be 'locked' to an initial value by clicking the lock icon.

'Test your luck' by clicking on the shamrock icon.

Swipe up to roll dice.

Click the options button, top right, to access a 'Clear all' button to reset for a new game.

Equipment / Notes Screen

On this screen you can store a list of all the items / notes you pick up during your adventure. Each item / note has a title and description area.

Combat Screen

Your standard stats will automatically carry across to this screen. To battle a monster, enter its SKILL and STAMINA values in one of the monster boxes. When ready click 'Battle!'. If the 'Auto-Battle' toggle is on (top-right) then the dice will roll and 2 points of STAMINA will be deducted from the losing combatant, otherwise you can amend the relevant STAMINA value yourself.

This Roleplaying game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Community Insight:

We have a large collection of Fighting Fantasy game books from our youth that we are revisiting now that our kids are grown and our time is our own again. The 12 year old us had no problem with incessantly writing and erasing and writing some more, but the older crotchety us would much rather use this app! So elegant in its simplicity, much like the game books it is used for. We love the way your adjusted stamina scores carry over from the battle page to the stats page and vice versa. Im also a fan of the section you can put the paragraph number in when taking a break so you know at a glance where you left off. And of course the lockable stats so you dont accidentally go over your initial scores. Lots to love in this little companion. We now just use a pencil and paper to draw a map, and keep track of everything else with this app. And while we still like rolling the dice ourselves, it will do that for you too if you want. All you need is some ambient music and youre good to go.

Have a massive collection of FF game books. This goes perfect with them! Love how it saves your info even after you close the app! Forget Xbox and PlayStation. Fighting Fantasy is the OG.

Just checked it out and bought the app! We have been piecing together little solutions with Excel for awhile. Ive even used several apps at once – Notepad, Dice Rollers, Calculator. But its always too cumbersome when Im trying to hold the book too – This is a great app! Thank you!! Our only suggestion – Add the ability to Save Characters. Allow players to have multiple characters at once. We often jump between gamebooks, but want to continue right where we left off later on.

As someone who just started a new collection of the beloved game books we enjoyed so much as a teenager, we learned the thing we DIDN'T miss was constantly erasing and writing numbers and wearing down our adventure sheet. This app solves this problem, and also comes with dice (although, admittedly, we prefer using our own "real" dice…it's just part of the fun!).

Invaluable for gaming on the go.

This app is like a glove to the fighting fantasy game books!!! It helps keep up with your stats as you read/play. Our only complaint is there should be additional monster counters for when you have to battle multiple monsters at once. We're hoping there will be an update soon that will include this little nugget. Otherwise we would have given it a 5 star rating. For a buck we highly recommend it if you are a beginner to the Fighting Fantasy world. User friendly and easy to use.
