What Makes Children of Morta Stand Out
Online co-op is now available: play with a friend by sharing a code!
Children of Morta is a story-driven action RPG with a roguelite approach to character development, in which you don’t play a single character but a whole, extraordinary family of heroes.
Hack’n’slash through hordes of enemies in procedurally generated dungeons, caves and lands and lead the Bergson family, with all their flaws and virtues, against the forthcoming Corruption. The story takes place in a distant land but copes with themes and emotions common to all of us: love and hope, longing and uncertainty, ultimately loss… and sacrifice we are willing to make to save the ones we care the most for.
Ultimately, it's about a family of heroes standing together against the encroaching darkness.
— Complete Edition —
Both the Ancient Spirits and the Paws and Claws DLC are included in the main game and available as you play.

Community Insight:
Game crashes before we can make it through the tutorial to get our first save . Seems like a pretty fun game.
Game is good but the controls make it 50/50 as in terms of fun. U cant move like you need to. The move stick acts more like a d pad then a directional joystick and the attack often attacks backwards before attacking in the chosen direction. Each time we lift our thumb up an down we have to pretty much reset whatever move or strategy we were opting for. Good but the controls need to be tighter and more responsive ESPECIALLY with the types and speed of enemies.
Loved this one console and was sooo excited for it to come to mobile! Had just as much of a blast progressing through until the crashes just became an inevitable issue that stops us from being able to enjoy the rest of the game. Thought it was an issue that would be resolved by now, over a year later but unfortunately were still here :/ guess Ill be putting it back down for another 6+ months and hope it finally gets figured out.
Fun fantastic spectacular and interesting.
We want to play this game with controller. Please.
Id be giving this game a five star review! But unfortunately it crashes after playing for about an hour making the Family Trials mode completely unplayable. Sad. Very sad.
Controls are easy enough. We enjoy the fact that every character plays very differently, although some levels are far better suited for ranged characters vs melee and vice versa. Biggest glaring issue Ive had is ever since unlocking the third stage, no matter what, the game will crash partway through our run. Which essentially makes the game unbeatable. Id love to try again after that issue is resolved, otherwise it feels like an incomplete demo that we still had to pay for.
We love the game but it keeps randomly crashing in the middle of a dungeon. Big mood killer and makes us not want to play.
Its something to do when we have a few minutes. Story isnt bad. Game play isnt bad. Whats driving us nuts are the interminably long cut scenes, the auto save which only saves after the long cutscenes, and the fact that a run can take a good 45 minutes and if we have to do something else theres no save and resuming a run in progress. Thats super annoying when we lose 30 min of work because auto save didnt do squat.
Great game, fun and love the story telling. However, its happened multiple times now where the game crashes after we catch the Belago. Its erased what were long and successful runs in the caves and it is problem that needs fixing because this is a huge discouragement to put in the time. Otherwise, Id give 5 stars. Update: Developer reached out and said to use the in game chat. This doesnt work if the game has crashed.
Backbone controller supported now & it's amazing . Loving this game, thank you and if you are reading this do not stop porting games over ios. You have AI now.
We think itd be more fun to add controller support.
Narrators voice acting is great. Characters are fun to play, some clearly feel better than others, but overall, all of them are fun in their own way. Exploration was decent, enemy variety can use some work, but it far from the worst we have seen. Art style is absolutely gorgeous imo, and is ultimately what lead us to try it. Everything is very crisp, and animations are smooth. Small events at home in between runs is a nice touch, and adds to the characters. Pretty great game overall, glad we picked it up.
Ive only been playing for a few hours and think this is a great title. The sound, gameplay, and story are all spot on. Our only concern would be to please add controller support. You all make great games.
The game is generally fun but as basically everyone has said this game has some of the worst controls we've ever seen. Very clunky and unresponsive and never attacks in the direction you want. For an action game we would almost call it unplayable without a controller.
The attack button is silly. The hero should simply attack in the direction he is facing. Having to also be hyper conscious of where your other thumb is placed for your attacks to land is annoying in the least and adds no advantage to simply attacking in the direction the hero is facing. Im astonished this game has descent reviews considering how the basic controls make the game harder to play for no good reason.
It keep closing us out the app please update.
This is a great game but to be able to play online with our wife and friends each on a different device would be incredible. Please bring online multiplayer soon!!! Youve got at least 6 purchases lined up when you do.
We use our backbone to play our games and it seemed like it worked at first but we enjoy your games please add support.
Would really love to be able to play this at 60 fps on our iPad Pro m2, we see they updated it to allow for an option to switch 30 fps off, but when we do this, there is no difference in game still 30 fps perhaps it is bugged.
Great story it's just the attack button seems hard specially on archer. Why can't the attack button just stay still just like in any other games? We haven't passed the archer level yet we might redownload this game again if the attack button is fixed.
Graphics are retro cool and the weapons/skills upgrading is great. You get plenty of gold for upgrading without a super crazy amount of grinding. The main story is slow and kind of boring. We recommend not buying this for iphone because of the crashing and the joystick controls dont respond well directionally.
We have This game on consoles and love it but the touch controls are not very smooth on mobile.
This game would get a 5 star if it had controller support. We bought it thinking it did. What a bummer.
Game looks great, storyline is cool, voice acting excellent. Unfortunately the controls are extremely buggy and almost unplayably bad. Attack direction is unresponsive. The movement joystick randomly gets stuck. Ive died so many times purely due to the horrible controls. We really want to like this game but we just cant with the controls in their current state.
This port has real issues with saving progress. It repeatedly failed to save our progress after over an hour of play.
This game pays tribute to some of the classics from SNES era while adding in plenty of unique elements to keep things fresh and interesting. Ever changing dungeons allow for never-ending gameplay, but the incentive to do so in story mode seems pretty low if any after clearing a stage. Family trials is a fun mode, but the difficulty curve after floor 6 or so is super steep if you didnt roll the right talents and get good RNG with drops. -1 for balance in Family Trials and lack of promised multiplayer functionality Edit : -2 for the lack of a checkpoint system when the game crashes as much as it does. Ive lost 6+ hours of gameplay in total and after it just crashing on a high level of the trials mode we think its time to delete altogether. Beat a boss? Game crash Phone rings? Game crash . Pick up an item? Game crash. Nope.
It has controller support!! And this game is awesome.
Can we get back bone controller support for this game please.
We really like the RPG and roguelike elements that keep us playing the different characters and learning synergies. The attack joystick is almost there but you can get used to them after moving them around a bit. It seems to register the direction you start and end a swipe with, and we think it should really be more of an end state recognition. Still well worth the money and time.
This game has been phenomenal, great setting, right amount of RNG and difficulty, and plays great with controller! We play with the ELO Vagabond and this feels great to play! We would like the game to have a higher fps or even an unlocked fps for more smoother gameplay but other than that, this is such a good port of a well crafted game, we highly recommend.
Beautiful and fun. And its a game we can play no micro transactions.
We cant play 40 to 1 hour every time pls make it save where we left the game.
Plays well in backbone after update.
Thank you for addressing the attack joystick issue! The 1st update appears to have completely resolved the issues we were experiencing with it. There is still a delay in the audio (around 500ms if we had to guess) that is only really noticeable on the 1st and last attack. Thankfully the game doesnt really rely on audio cues so this isnt a deal breaker, but can be a little off putting at times. Beyond this, Ive been having an absolute blast with the game and highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys roguelites. The narration is a great touch and makes the story compelling, which tends to lack in this genre.
We love this game. Its very rare to see something this well crafted in terms of gameplay, story and just overall fun. Our main issue is that sometimes when Im in the middle of playing Ill have to pause and do something else with our phone for 10 minutes. Inevitably when we come back Im back at the menu screen and have lost all the progress Ive made. Any way to have some save points along the way? At least auto-saving when you switch floors? Thanks.
The art style we really enjoy. The story is really interesting. Movement is great but fighting is completely off when we go to attack they attack the opposite direction in which we want them. This should be fixed if you want to charge for a game.
Combat made unnecessarily hard cause of the built in attack joystick.
Play this a lot on our ps5 was excited to be able to play on mobile, but the targeting is super janky. Ill be walking right, with the grey arrow pointing right but our attacks instantly go left without us moving our finger off the movement stick. Please fix, will update review to 5 stars once it is Update 10/20 Fixed the always looking left but controls are still janky.
This is probably the best mobile ARPG Ive played in terms of story/writing, aesthetics, general gameplay, BUT the controls are so terrible This would otherwise be an easy 5 stars! The controls are jumpy and rigid. Aiming doesnt feel fluid at all and Im constantly trying to attack in one direction, only to have the character swing their sword the complete opposite way! We really hope they dig in at some point and improve the controls. This is a phenomenal game with just that one critical drawback.
We see huge potential. Little bit of a learning curve. When we switched to a gamepad (and custom mapped our controls in game) everything changed. We dont like game stories. We like this one though. We dont skip. The game also screen casts well if you dont wanna stare at your phone for a couple hours.
We currently love this game. Its a good story and the gameplay feels amazing.
Was recommended this game from Reddit and we have to say its been amazing. The only thing we would wish for is when you hold the attack it wont default to the character aiming left first. Once that is fixed this game will be perfection.
Long time fan! We cant wait for coop.
Im enjoying the storyline but the problem we had was with the attack button. It would attack in random directions. The developers got back to us quickly and let us know that the attack button is also a joystick, push it in the direction you want to attack. Thank you for the timely response.
Attack button (its actually a joystick) could use better explanation.
Coming from someone who has ADHD (inattentive type), we really appreciate games like this. Theres no in app purchases, or paywalls. And the game is always introducing something new (but not in an overwhelming way). There is very little reading involved, as the game has excellent voice actors, and the controls are clean, customizable, and straight forward. We dont hate reading, but it can sometimes cause progression paralysis. Conveniently, there is a section of the menu with lots of Lore for when we do feel like reading! Ive played this game on Switch, Mac via Steam, and Ive crowdfunded the board game (on TTS). It has an engaging story that pushes the player forward even if they fail a run, and will often introduce something new that helps the player- such as new characters, pets, and side quests. The dungeons are randomly generated so you will get a different layout each time. The combat is top notch, the animation is smooth, and the fantasy cyber pixel art style of the expansive looking backgrounds are breathtaking. The characters all play very differently from one another which adds even more to the replayability. As the characters level up they also create synergy between them and the other characters The voice acting is above and beyond. The narrator will chime in on things on every run, which really adds to the experience. The characters have charming and appropriate grunts and yells. With enemies you can often hear them off screen. And the special abilities sound LOTR style epic. Bonus! – multiplayer is coming in a future update.
We bought the game after seeing in the description that it had controller support. Already own it on steam, but we've been enjoying all these amazing indie games gems getting released on mobile recently. So far it holds up to the pc version.
We love everything about the game, except that it usually crashes when we die and there is no manual save so we keep having to do the same sections of storyline over and over. The reason this is so annoying is because we paid over $7 for this game.
