It’s rated 9+ and currently has 110+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Puzzmo: Solve. Smile. Share. Stand Out
Hello! If you're reading this you either really love Puzzmo or you are somehow undecided about our app. Let's be clear: you should download the app. We made it for you and it's free and it's really good! What do you have to lose?
Puzzmo is the center of the puzzle universe. You'll find fresh original games by brilliant designers like Zach Gage and new daily puzzles for modern classics like Cross|word, SpellTower, Flipart, Typeshift, Pile-Up Poker, Memoku, and more. You'll also find a little puzzle at the bottom of this AppStore description. Go on, scroll to the bottom.
NEW: MEMOKU
Inspired by the classic memory game, Memoku invites you to match pairs of numbers, but there's a twist – like Sudoku, no number can appear in the same row, column, or box twice.
BONGO
Bongo challenges you to build a better board out of twenty five tiles, often picked on a theme by Puzzmo's friends, community members, and celebrity guests. There’s always a better board.
PILE-UP POKER
Pile-Up Poker is a twist on traditional poker where players build rows and columns of poker hands. The objective is to create the highest overall score by adding cards one by one to the gird, making strategic decisions along the way.
FLIPART
Flipart is a modern twist on digital jigsaw puzzles. This free daily puzzle challenges you to rearrange Tetris-like shapes by tapping the pivot points so that none of the shapes overlap and they all fit within the border. Flipart puzzles are enjoyable for kids and adults alike!
TYPESHIFT
Typeshift is our free, daily captivating word puzzle game that challenges your vocabulary, spatial reasoning, and wit. Solve puzzles by shifting columns of letters like a combination lock to form words. Each puzzle is a fun brain-teaser chock full of both word search and strategy.
CROSS|WORD
Puzzmo crossword puzzles are for everyone. Some of the world’s top solvers compete daily for the fastest solve on Puzzmo, but that doesn’t mean we’re here to stump you. In fact if you’re new to crosswords or struggling complete a grid, we’re here to help. Only Puzzmo crosswords offer an optional, easier hint with every single clue.
CUBECLEAR
Cube Clear is a word puzzle game where players spell words in a grid whose letters then disappear. Longer words score higher points, and adjacent tiles disappear after use, causing remaining tiles to tumble to the bottom of the grid. With only 36 letters, the challenge of Cube Clear is two-fold. Can you clear the board, and in how few words?
WORDBIND
Wordbind is a directional anagram game that challenges you to discover new words hidden within the chosen words of the day. You can only key in letters from left to right, you’re allowed to skip letters, and you can use the same letter twice to find the perfect word. With each word you find, you rise the ranks on your way to Luminary status.
REALLY BAD CHESS
Aside from the small advantage white gains by making the first move, chess is a battle of wits between two competitors with the same pieces in the same positions. Puzzmo’s free daily Really Bad Chess game turns all of that “fairness” on its head. For example, you might have a huge material advantage with three queens while your computer opponent might have no queens and five rooks. The pieces may look random, but your advantage is carefully calculated!
SPELLTOWER
SpellTower is a two-dimensional grid of letters that looks like your typical word search puzzle. But unlike a traditional word search, you can change directions, cross your own path, go diagonal, and even spell backwards! This freedom of movement allows you to find more complex and challenging words, but this isn’t the only twist with SpellTower. As you use letters, they disappear from the grid, with the ultimate goal being a perfect, total clear of the entire board.
You found it! If you can solve this classic riddle, enter the answer at puzzmo.com/code
"Forward I’m heavy, backwards I’m not. What word am I?"
Happy puzzling!

Community Insight:
Downloaded after NYT paywalled the mini crossword NYT aint got NOTHING on Puzzmo! Crosswords arent too easy or too hard and same with the hints! There are usually multiple to do per day. No annoying ads! The other games are pretty fun too and there are a lot of free options. Would love a game like connections though.
We really appreciate Brooke's editing of crosswords and Zach Gage's puzzle design and prototyping. The crosswords are frequently novel and high quality, and we enjoy learning about global cultures from the clues. We wish prototypes were freely available in beta, and that paywalled games had a free "tutorial" puzzle. Might help conversions.
Do you know theres a lot of puzzles and theyre really fun do someone that copied this game they were called Puzzmo brain puzzle game and they were a big fat copycat and the one who likes this game please tell it please give it five stars its so fun.
While we love Puzzmo and the games that it offers, we find the chess game mode really frustrating. We understand the idea behind it, and we think it has potential. But as someone who doesnt play chess very often, we cant honestly say its fun to throw ourselves at the two daily chess games against a relatively unforgiving AI, especially when the game plays nothing like actual chess. Its especially frustrating when you finish every other game, only to be left with chess to finish the page. Again, we dont entirely dislike the concept of the game, but we think the game would seriously benefit from some sort of difficulty setting at the expense of points. We think being able to lower the elo of your opponent would make the game much more fun, and finishing a page would actually feel enjoyable, rather than a test of patience after finishing the rest of the games.
This app is a super fun time to be able to do little puzzles everyday and Ive shared it with as many people as we could. We think this is a great addition to anyones home screen and is worth the daily check in. Our only problem is that, very recently, everything has been put behind a pay wall minus the crosswords. We understand that its a free app and that paywalling extras is the business model, but we miss doing the weather sudoku and block puzzles. Simple solution is to obviously just pay, but youve set a precedent when those games were previously available and that means something.
Fun games. Doesnt give free week to try. If you cancel one day in they lock you out because youre not subscribed.
We love puzzmos games, but this app is slowly becoming a pain to use. We understand the need for ads, but recently theyve been appearing out of nowhere and disabling the screen. It really interrupts the whole experience in a way we dont encounter on desktop. Also, this new play another button trying to force us to pay for games that are ALREADY FREE??? Its a mess.
Just a terribly designed hodgepodge of games. Ads has started to launch midgame multiple times. Just deleted.
We play it every day and its still entertaining.absolute cinema.
We have been a HUGE fan of Zachs puzzles and apps for almost a decade. Starting with Sage Solitaire, then Type Shift, and Good Sudoku Ive poured hundreds, if not thousands of hours into his games. Ive been desperately waiting for new packs to be added to Type Shift for years, so imagine the glee we felt finding it a part of this new daily puzzle app!!! The new puzzle games, along with some of Zachs classics, are delightful, creative, engaging and challenging. We love that theyre always testing new types of puzzles, and that we, the users get to participate. We love the variety, the quantity, and most of all, the uniqueness!! Unfortunately, one of the most important aspects of an app, the UI, is horrendous. And we mean just abysmal. Instead of being clean, inviting, simple its confusing, convoluted and impossibly complicated to navigate. It honestly has the look and feel of scrolling through a newspaper. Each day should have its own page, with that days puzzles featured in icons or small images. The archives should be easy to navigate. (Right now we cant even get it to open another day.) we would strongly encourage the devs to check out a couple other daily puzzle apps, specifically: The Daily Puzzle (Typosaurus), Everyday Puzzles (Fanatee), and Puzzle Page (AppyNation). These are fantastic apps that have perfected their main UI and streamlined their archives both by date and type of puzzle. (While these apps are the same concept of Puzzmo, theyre all just generic puzzles you can find anywhere, so we dont consider them competition.) we love the little jokes, the news, and especially the weather, but theres got to be a cleaner way to present it all. As we said in the beginning, the puzzles are terrific, which is most important and why Ill keep coming back. But if we wasnt such a fan of Zachs, our rating would have been much lower, and we probably wouldnt even bother with the app. We reaaaaally hope a redesign is in the works for a near future update. Also, the clue packs were our absolute favorite from type shift, please consider adding some of those.
The app only opening in an iPhone sized portrait mode is definitely a bummer. We'll probably stick to playing Puzzmo in our web browser in our iPad mini for now since we can use landscape mode and have the game in full screen.
When we open this app, if we forget to turn our volume down, the app should at us. We have sounds disabled in the app.. But there are still sounds? We like the concept of this app, and the puzzles are good. But we think you guys need to ask yourselves, Is our app annoying to open and use? For us it is.
Great games overall, but we really love Pile-Up Poker! It is a game we can play daily. Our kids are huge fans of flipart, and ask to play all the time.
Classic games with modern twists. If youve ever enjoyed the newspaper games section you should give this a look.
Liking the game but please remove the subscription. But the puzzmos account is ok. Five stars game though.
Really really fun games made by independent creators. Thanks for a lovely service and now having a native mobile app.
The folks at Puzzmo are giving New York Times Games a run for their money with a smorgasbord of daily puzzlesincluding our new favorite daily crossword! A fantastic evolution of the daily puzzle formula, all from independent creators.
The puzzles are high quality and the app itself functions perfectly fineas it should, considering its just a wrapper for the mobile site. Its a bit disappointing that there are no app-specific UI adjustments (many buttons are too small, the quick access menu for the different games is all the way at the bottom of the page) and that the app is iOS-exclusive despite, again, just being the mobile site that you can already access on any device. Also, tapping the next arrow when playing the crossword should cycle through the clues in numerical order, not jump to the clue directly below when filling across or to the right when filling down.
The games are good, but the app (which is just a bunch of embedded web views) is a huge disappointment coming from Knotwords.
Theres several games to play, but we personally dont find them very challenging. We did the free trial and after 3 days we were bored. Something simple that annoys us though is when you finish a game and you go back to the main screen you start all the way back at the top. It would be nice to pick up where we left off instead of constantly scrolling back down to get to the next game. It doesnt really matter though, we wont be purchasing the full version. To rich for our blood.
We like the hint flexibility of the Crossword game but nothing locks in when the correct word is entered. The overall interface does not allow for smooth transitions to other games or in accessing the archived games. We thought Id like the poker game but we didnt. We signed up for a month of the premium version ($3-$4 we think) but we doubt this app will hold our interest for another month.
