That quote implies that Jon wasn’t always the morally corrupt demon we know as Johnny Old Boy. Rather, he was much closer to his incarnation in the Garfield comic strip. But through Garfelf’s dark magic and mental manipulation, he slowly transformed into a deranged, grinning monster with no humanity left in him. No more morals, no more inner thoughts, no more Jon. Just a morally and physically deformed puppet of Garfelf that he calls "Johnny Old Boy" to mock him out of sheer contempt for the man who, in the past, had been his caretaker.
These mods have way more lore and backstory than they needed, and I love it.
