BigSeed is a Education/Puzzle game from MIND Research Institute, first launched in 30th November 2011.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 127+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes BigSeed Stand Out
Big Seed
We are excited to present Big Seed to a larger audience. This was the
first multistep thinking game to incorporate JiJi the penguin. Up
until now, it has only been available in schools, which will often have a Big
Seed hall of fame. The goal is to unfold the colored "seed" tiles to
perfectly fill all the empty cells. Sound easy? Try to get through all
ten levels without overheating your cerebral cortex to near boiling
levels. If your scorched neurons force you to raise the white flag in
defeat, it'll be infuriating to know that 2nd graders across the
country charge through the whole thing as the culmination of MIND
Research's award-wining ST Math curriculum!
Features:
- Fun and intuitive touch-driven controls.
- Word-free problem solving. Suitable for all ages across the globe.
- Final levels look deceptively simple, but will challenge even Nobel Laureates.
- Graphs your progress.
- Supports multiple profiles.
- From the award-winning creators of STMath®.
- All new puzzles for those familiar with the school version.
- Proceeds support our non-profit mission of elevating math achievement.
This Education game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Community Insight:
We PLAYED THIS IN 5TH GRDE AND IM IN 10TH.
We enjoy solving the puzzles. Some are quite tricky. We are at the Ouch! Level and have solved the first 3 puzzles. But Im stuck on the 4th puzzle and beyond. We just dont see the path to solving them. Anyone hints would be appreciated.
Let us tell you how we know about this game. This how it started we were looking for ST Math with our dad for remote class we thought ST Math had a new update and new name but it wasnt. And we tried it it was easy first but for flip flop last level it was so hard we would prefer you to make the level with 3 but instead everything is great and awesome.
We think its really fun, way better than ST math. You can fail as many times as you want and you dont have to start over. It lets you see where it will fold (at least on iPad) and is sometimes hard, but not always.
Way better than st math you dont have where you restart if you fail we love it.
Hi, Im A Second Grader And Im From Iowa. Our Dad Just Bought This App, And Im On The Second Level. Im Stuck On The Upside Down Hat Looking One. We Hope we Finish. We Also Play ST Math. Thank You For These Math Games.
Love this game. Family fun. Challenging as well. Great math game.
This game is fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun.
This game is awesome but we want a new update. So you know when we all finish the level: Ouch! Were done right? So we beg you please update the thing like to extreme or something like that. It is a cool game but thats what we want. Thank you if youre reading this.
We uninstalled big seed because it thought our favorite color is blue but its not blue its redblue is our third favorite color.
Omg we have to say the creators get an A+++++++++ this should be the ciriculum instead of JIJI (ugh )but you should get this app even if it is hard at times you get through it and the instructions are self explanatory so yeah.
It kinda got a bit to challenging for us. Could you make it a little bit more easy.
Honestly, This part of the game is utter nonsense like this isnt even learning so basically its a game where you COLOR bricks and put them together and thats just matching not learning otherwise its an awesome game.
This is the second best free puzzle game we've found! KickBox by the same company was more challenging overall.
We are an academic scientist and we find this game to be one of the most fun and challenging games we have ever played. But it is beautiful in its simplicity. In fact, our 3.5 yr old loves playing the intro levels too. Our only suggestion is reversing the last two levels. We found the final level to be much simpler than the previous one.
AMAZING game. Our friends are on Insane and we're on Ouch!. We play this every day.
Really challenging and yet fun. It's good for your children if your looking for a educational app and it doesn't have any bugs.
We love this app it requires thinking yet its funn we're totally addicted too this app.
This is an absolutely amazing and brilliant app. Made for kids to teach spatial and math skills, but addicting as game play for adults. The basic premise is to help a little penguin walk by solving spatial puzzles. There are many levels of game play and many concepts to conquer. A heartfelt thanks and Kudos to the developers. We would definitely recommend this app to families and clinicians. It is a great way to assess a non verbal kids strengths with spatial media. There is a school addition available too.
Our family loves Jiji! Great spatial mind builder. Sure hope the maker comes up with more educational apps for general public as they have available for schools.
BigSeed is a fun app for children and adults alike. Helping the penguin cross the screen by correctly solving puzzles is a good brain teaser for ourselves as well as for our 11 year old daughter. We were unsure of what age this app is geared towards, as we believe it is more complex than our 4 year old would be able to solve. Be careful if you get this app, you may become addicted.
If we're going to give our kids iPad time, either at home or at school, as a reward, we love when they pick apps by this developer. Big Seed is fun, but also quite challenging – requiring thinking ahead/multi step problem solving. Great game.
When we reflect the blocks the reflect in a different place. It is a huge glitch.
Really liked this game a lot. Fun to play and helps teach our kids about transformations in math. Please add more JiJi games to the App Store! They are always a challenge and help teach students to think critically many steps ahead so they get the right answer.
In terms of playing the game, Big Seed is as good as they get. If we were judging on game alone we would have given it 5 stars. Unfortunately, there is very little playing time. You will pay double for this game as you would for most, and then it will last a fraction of the time.
INTUITIVE CONTROLS Big Seed is a clever, simple and infectiously fun game. The Zen-like, elegant graphics and intuitive controls are conducive to the spatial-temporal puzzle solving that ensues. We haven't had this much fun with a puzzle game since Tetris! WELL-DESIGNED GAMEPLAY Big Seed involves flipping mirrored versions of tiles into empty slots. The difficulty comes from the "mirroring" (so 1 tile becomes 2, which becomes 4, which becomes 8, etc.), requiring you to strategize your moves. Big Seed comes locked in landscape mode, which is immensely helpful as you can rotate the touchpad to view the puzzles from a different angle. ADDICTIVE PUZZLES The game tracks all of your stats (puzzle times, successes, fails, favorite color!) so you can go back and improve them. However, Big Seed's puzzles stretch your spatial-temporal capacity so much that it quickly becomes addictive to replay the puzzles you had previously solved anyways. A WONDERFUL GAME Big Seed is extremely well designed, well-crafted, and uses touchpad technology to its advantage, but all in support of its gameplay. There is no in-game music, but we just set up our playlist in iTunes and we're good to go for hours.
