Alright, Ill admit. Before we played this game, we thought it was a complete battle cats ripoff, but this has a lot of original mechanics and is very fun.
We play both this and Battle Cats in tandem and really enjoy both of them. Honestly in some ways Cats the Commander might be the improvement, auto-battle isnt a resource you can run out of, replaying already beaten levels has a built in speed-up function, getting the in-game currency (gems) for free is much easier than getting it in Battle Cats (cat food), unit designs vary a lot more than Battle Cats, and you are able to unlock U.S.R units of your choice after opening enough gatchas which Battle Cats does not have. However it is a lot less strategic than Battle Cats which might become boring for some people but the biggest issue is the performance sometimes. We will give them the benefit of the doubt since our iPhone is rather old but our game freezes constantly and even slows down our iPhone itself in which case it takes an annoyingly long time to close and re-open the app. We have never had a problem even remotely similar with Battle Cats. In conclusion, if you like Battle Cats at all you owe it to yourself to at least try Cats the Commander, its different enough and is almost like a sudo-unofficial-sequel in a way, other than the performance issues its a near perfect mobile game that needs a lot more much needed love, especially in the fan-art department.

Its a good game. The animations are good, the gameplay is entertaining. There are a few issues. Number 1 is how very difficult it is to get gems in this gameits a very arduous and long process to get even 1 multi summon. 500 gems for 10 summons is quite high for the actual amount of gems you can get from completing challenges. The second issue we have with the game is how long it takes to evolve a unit. It takes lots of resources to evolve a unit just 3 times which for some units isnt even their max evolution. The game would get a 5 star review if not for those two issues, the gem one mainly.
To all the people thinking this is another shill/fake review, we assure you we have plenty to add. First of all, this game does plenty to differentiate itself from other gacha games. Its gameplay uses a physics-based combat system, where the units sprites accurately depict its hitbox and collisions fling them a distance based on their weight and the attack. Some units shoot projectiles that have their own hitbox and can have their own size, velocity, and special effects. Weapons, a feature you can add to your units, not only affect the damage output of a unit, but can drastically change how they function. These aspects combined can give way to some really creative enemy/unit designs. The game also makes an effort to bring players closer together. Salvages, failing a battle and letting players save you by progressing through the stage, can earn players rewards for completing them, and people can intentionally set these up to give players certain resources. Arena and Celestial Tower are competitive modes that have players fighting for the biggest score, whether it be fighting other players teams or progressive through an increasingly difficult trial, and you can see who youre beating and whos beating you. Raid is also competitive but has teams going ham on a boss to earn points versus other teams. Some other miscellaneous things we like about the game: The art quality and music are consistently great, especially the backgrounds and character designs. There is new content constantly being made, whether it be story content, USRs, or weapons. The Voting banners are genuinely a genius idea and are a great incentive to pick up the game. Megiddo forcing you to use specific units is a nice break from using more powerful units by default. Watching ads is actually worth your time, either giving you stamina refills or free gems. There is always a new banner during the beginning of each year thats great without fail and is always something to look forward to. Now heres the inevitable section of what we dislike: Some banners have a great unit surrounded by very mediocre units, basically baiting your resources for a needle in a haystack. The removal of black tickets only puts salt on the wound. Some banners just arent worth your resources entirely and feel due for a buff, and it honestly feels like they prey on uneducated players thinking theyre getting good tools for their team. Unfortunately, many (though not all) units that arent USRs from the gacha are destined to be bad beyond midgame. Getting and even KNOWING what useful USRs to get is the only true way of having and edge against hard stages and meaner Arena participants, let alone the luck you need to get them. Waiting for a particular non-seasonal banner can take literal MONTHS, and even then, some rotations do not have the banner USR guaranteed. Getting good advice is difficult if you arent part of a dedicated Discord community, as the playerbase is very disjointed and small. If you want a more quality opinion of the game, please give it a try. Im sure it will be worth your time.
Sometimes the game randomly freezes while Im playing please fix this bug and sometimes the units just completely bug out because of hitbox issues.
The cat walking in the matches from the title screen is awkward.
Im not gonna lie the only reason we found this game was because of it being a battle cats copy. But tbh this game is a lot more fun then battle cats. Unlike battle cats u can do a lot more things and the energy system is better in our opinion.

As a Battle Cats player, we enjoy this game very much. In almost every way that its different from battle cats, we think it is better. The combat is much more involved making for some interesting battles. The one and only reason we wont give it 5 stars is the gacha event advertisement spam every day. We get that you want to make money, and we could even see ourselves making purchases in the future. However, we find it incredibly annoying to have to click through a ton of pop ups everyday in an attempt to make a purchase. Then, at the end, you see a graphic displaying all of the events at once that allows you to click through them. Just show that.
Ok this is a not much fun in it and it copyed the battle cats 0/10 game.
Amazing for being a rip-off of battle cats but Ive never seen new ultra capsules.
We have seen other peoples reviews on this, and quite a few times have we seen where they say its just a copy of The Battle Cats. Now, theres no denying, theres definitely some inspiration taken from it, but game wise we think it is pretty different. First of all, the gameplay itself. Its similar, as in you send out troops, they go fight for you, they have a cost for each troop, and all that mumbo jumbo. Id say that thats not something unique, there are plenty of games that do that kind of thing. Also with the weapons, The Battle Cats dont have something similar really, unless you count the orbs, but those are pretty drastic compared to how often you come across them. Also, the weapons in Cats The Commander dont just boost some trait for one specific thing, they have several of their own traits. Another different thing is that you dont have specific health for the target of the enemies, and instead its a three hit system. And when you do get hit, you gain a lot of cat power to send out more troops. There isnt really anything in The Battle Cats thats really similar, so you cant say thats an exact copy. Now, second, designs. The main character being a white cat we cant argue isnt a copy, the teacher looks pretty similar compared to the Cat God from The Battle Cats, plus the characters you send out also look pretty similar compared to the style of the characters from The Battle Cats. Id say they copy the pattern of more common characters you get in the gacha aspect of the game being cat characters, while the more rarer ones are actual people, is true, but style is hard to say is a copy. They both have the same style, yes, but its just a style. There are plenty of games that have similar styles for characters, so its hard to say if thats exactly a copy. Basically, they do have the same style. Everything together, Id say whats causing all of the concerns and all that is the inclusion of mostly cat characters, and the similarities of some characters compared to some in The Battle Cats. Also the way you approach stages in that you have stamina that recharges over time, and each stage costs more and more stamina. Plus the layout of the map. Those are striking similarities between the two that are hard to miss. We think if they changed those few things (getting away from cat characters, changing how you are able to play stages, and getting different designs for some characters that seem more original), then all of those issues wouldnt be a problem. Overall, its not a bad game, just needs changes in how things look.
We have no words on how bad this is. They copied the anime cats (otherwise humans we guess) and the cat god. And our favorite gacha. The nekoluga family. Even our cat must be satisfied by the effort PONOS corp put into battle cats.
Ive been playing this on our phone for about a couples weeks or so, and we gotta sayITS FUN! We love the unique mechanics, strategies, and stupid cats and its going to take fun effort to collect all of them. Well done IGNITION! To people seeing this as a Battle Cats ripoff is like saying two sports cartoons are the same just because they both play soccerits dumb. The mechanics of weapons and badges is a fun quirk that makes this stand out, and honestly it feels more like an adventure then battle acts does. Music? A+. It takes RPG aspects and puts them with a twist, the type combos allow for strategy and to encourage Ticket Spending, and GOD THIS GAME IS JUST GOOD! Overall we would say Battle Cats is the superior game but DEFINATLY TRY CATS THE COMMANDER.

We love the game and its really fun we do hate that if you delete the app you loose all the data for your current profile because we just accidentally deleted it and now we have to start all over and also just today it says the game has to be updated but when we look on the App Store there is nothing saying it has to be updated. Its a fun game but we wouldnt call it Battle Cats but better. We think battle cats has many pros and this game is really fun and has its own pros too. They are two different games though. We think this game is targeted towards kids. We had fun but Im going to stick with Battle Cats. Other people can enjoy this one or both.

This is a poorly made battle cats knock off. The archer character doesn't even hit the enemies, just shoots over them. Everything about it is like battle cats, but the art is less appealing and the units don't function in a way that makes sense. Save your time and just download battle cats.

The characters are way better made than the battle cats and are colorful and fun for everyone who loves cats. A problem with this game is that many people don't know that it is a straight up ripoff to battle cats which an even better more skill based game. Some people can argue that they put hard work in it, but there's no point because of it being a copy.
This game is to much fun that we would spend 50$ for it and we only have 62$ so now you know how much we love this game.

Obviously just stole the concept and game style of battle cats, but with some good improvements. The game is more intuitive, always progressing while battle cats can often make you feel stuck. Also, love the different attack types and the addition weapons, it allows you to make weaker cats stronger by equipping powerful weapons and having longer ranged units allows a new element of strategy with setting up a powerful back line for damage with tackle units defending them, where battle cats has most cats up close to the enemies.
Honestly its just a good game and it takes a while to get bored of it and its high-quality and its technically not a rip off of The Battle Cats and we really hope some of our favorite Youtubers can get back on playing it its just a good game.

This game is a bit similar to BattleCats, yet there are things about it that make it stand out in contrast the latter. The game operates on a marathon style instead of base defense, and weapon/equipment items are also taken into account. The game is not necessarily hard, but it also isnt any easier than BattleCats. The vibes that each game gives off is different too, though theres the common theme of comedy shared between then. BattleCats story is more akin to a Monty Python skit while this games story is more like a traditional rpg plot. Both are solid, but if youre into something more nonsensical and surreal, Id suggest BattleCats. If you really dont have a preference, this game should do pretty well too.
