Recent Updates & Development

Latest Update: 20th November 2025

Recent improvements include:
• Version 5 is a ground-up rewrite of the Choice of Games app, designed to look great with iOS 26 Liquid Glass.
• We've also added a new button on the Settings screen to "Download all games." When you use it, all games will be available offline. It’ll take a few minutes to run. The next time you tap it, it will skip downloading games that are up to date; it should refresh in under a minute.
• On iPad, you can now close the stats screen when holding the iPad in landscape mode.

New in 5.0.1:
• Now you can search and sort games that you've added to your Favorites, games that you've Purchased, and games that you've Downloaded.
• We have a new "LGBTQ+" search option. All of our games allow you to choose your character’s gender and sexual orientation. The games tagged "LGBTQ+" go above and beyond to showcase queerness and queer relationships.

If you enjoy "Choice of Games," please leave us a written review. It really helps!

Community Insight:

We love this app, but the most recent update seems to have broken something. It kept giving us some sort of graphics error between every page, and we realized after checking the settings that the animation between pages seems to be the culprit.

Long time user, new update has made the app unusable for us. Every time we go to the next page the previous pages text stays and covers the new page. Cant figure out how to fix.

We are a big fan of the Choice Games brand, including the Choice of Games line. Ive purchased quite a few of their books, and for the most part, consider all our purchases to be well worth it. We also really like reading all their titles on one app like this, and prefer to continue buying the books here instead of on individual apps/on steam/elsewhere. However the app is notably very old, and hasnt seen new features in years. There are a lot of cool things that could be done with a central Choice Games hub like this (at the very least let us save snapshots of our character pages, and organize our books!) and we wish we would we more development for the app itself! We think a lot more people would use the app if there were compelling advantages to purchasing the books on here.

Ive used this app for a very long time and it is amazing. It is a perfect tool as a hub for a majority of interactive fiction games. It also provides updates on the novels while keeping people who use it informed of new happenings in the community.

You get to sample the stories before you buy them, which, 10/10 for a good hook, and the option to sample before you buy. Personally Ive really enjoyed Pendragon Rising- and would absolutely adore a sequel!! Wish we could review the individual story! Its really enjoyable. We also wish we could see all the different achievements we could accomplish in the game to aim for certain outcomes. Pls pls pls make a sequel.

Ive loved choice of games since we got our first android device back in 2014, so glad its still around for us to enjoy as an adult. Simple app mechanics, great stories.

Truly, Ive had these game for 7 years theyve never disappointed. We love this app, we love this company, we truly recommend it for anyone interested. All of the stories are interesting and amazing.

Love the app and the spin offs. Im currently experiencing a bug on our restart of royal affairs if possible to get a fix. These games definitely make it fun for readers.

We love that you can read books and participate in them and only watch a few adds! The story lines are great and its been an amazing way to get us to read more. We also love that we restart stories if we want so we can get different endings.

Creme de la creme is so in depth and intricate! We loved the intrigue.

Fun app! Lots of variety, and you can read the first few chapters free so you dont have to guess at what youll like.

We loved the new release, Book of Hungry Names. Genuinely the best Choice of Games game Ive ever played.

We have been reading/playing/enjoying choice of games novels for about ten years. Im not even sure what to call it. Do we play them? Read them? Yes. Anyway, we have been a fan of so many of their titles. Standouts for us are: Drag Star, The Heroes Rise Trilogy, and Lies Under Ice. We were also a huge fan and player of the World of Darkness games back in the 90s. Imagine how thrilled we were to see the partnership between CoG and WoD! The Vampire novels were amazing. As was the Wraith novel (or, novels, really, if you dig deeply enough!) As was the Hunter novel. We were in heaven. Enter: The Book of Hungry Names. Now, we loved Werewolf: the Appcalypse back in the day but we were always more of a Vampire: the Masquerade fan. Didnt matter. CoG + WoD had been A-Ok and we were excited about a Werewolf novel. It did not disappoint. We have laughed out loud, cried, sent screenshots of the beautiful prose to friends, and generally gushed about how awesome the Book of Hungry Names has been to read. And we havent even finished it yet! (Standout quotes from TBoHN include: Im not allowed to use pronouns after what happened last time and Are we really listening to Debbie Gibson, here? Plus a really good Carly Simon pun). Im someone who reads and re-reads these novels to experience the richly different narratives that change given the variable choices available. We have ESPECIALLY loved Choice of Games because they prize queer and trans narratives and prize allowing queer and trans readers to not only see themselves in the main character, but actually SHAPE the main character to be someone who represents them. That is priceless. We want to sincerely thank Choice of Games and all of their authors and the other people who work to make these novels/games/unforgettable experiences happen. You have a lifelong fan and a huge admirer in us. Sorry for the long overdue review.

We WANT A BETTER COMPLETE ENDIMG we CANNOT BELOEVE THAT END IS JUAT STANDING WITH ADVERSAEY UGHHH.

We love this app and the amount of stories we get to experience Im slowly getting back into reading and this has definitely helped with that, Im obsessed with the stories from these incredible authors.

This app is great. Amazing authors! You can tell how much love and work is poured into this app and how much they truly care about writing. Each author in this app truly loves what theyre doing.

Updates usually make your current chapter restart but the most recent one has deleted a massive amount of data. This is very discouraging and makes us regret purchasing stories from this app.

Been a fan for years and years.

The app is truly a treasure trove of story! Most new releases are from $5-10, most with decent length. Replayability depends on the books author. There are some solid choices though. They should pay authors more.

This has been great fun over the last week or so. There needs to be a way to filter stories while searching. Some kind of tag system maybe? Sort them by rating? We dunno. Searching is super clunky. A save load system would be a real game changer. Especially on re-reads. Its incredibly tedious to have to start from the beginning if you want to explore a different dialogue tree in the middle or end of a story. We do feel like the stories are a little over priced.

This is a good game and we like the stories but there needs to be more diversity you know what we mean we mean that there needs to be different stories also it would be really nice to have more free stories and maybe a option to post your own stories or something like that all in all a great game.

CoG has great variety, even within just the free games. We played for free for several months without getting bored, and eventually purchased some games not out of necessity because of exhausting the free options but just because we were interested. Theres many different authors, but generally consistent quality through all of the games. We havent sampled any that were legitimately awful, but some are particularly stand-out. A personal (free!) favorite of ours is Death Collector. Theres a new game roughly every 1-2 months. The ones that have come out recently havent interested us personally, but theres enough backlog of content that we still use the app regularly. Most of the games also have great replay value, but again, some definitely do this better than others. A tip: if you want to save 50-or-so cents on a game, create an account and purchase the game from their website. That way, you pay the sticker price and avoid the app-store tax. The app then lets you restore purchases and the game will be available on the app. Uses very little storage space, which is a plus. Runs great, we havent had any crashes or major bugs (and we have a pretty old and janky device.) The only thing we would want changed would be the way ads are given on free novels- you have to watch 1 ad to enter a novel and 1 ad to continue. Because of the timer between chapters on free novels, functionally this makes each novel have 2 ads to play each chapter. If 2 ads is the minimum that they can play per chapter to get enough revenue to run the app, thats annoying but understandable. But they could have the 2 ads play automatically each time a new chapter is started and skip the farce of only needing to see one and also allow you to continue playing an ongoing chapter without watching another ad each time you open the novel.

Choice of games has quality content and you get what you pay for. All of the stories are so engaging and its the most fun Ive had on an app in a long time.

Been playing this on and off since we were a kid lol our only complaint is that the app isnt entirely dark with dark mode turned on so thats a little annoying.

It has some good stories, but there needs to be better free ones, wish we could read more but Im broke.

We love this app, but please makes some more stories free. We understand that you need to make money, but we dont like to play creatures such as we and Nessie obligee (is that what theyre called?) over and over again. You can add more adds, but please make some more of the romance ones free.

Love that theyve made a platform for what was once standalone apps but our experience with it has been pretty janky. The app bars and bottom bars are illegible / have broken backgrounds, some elements dont load correctly in the app views. Could really stand to have a usability / accessibility audit done because it is way out of compliance for the latter. (As a fan and an experienced product design professional, Im happy to point you in the right direction / provide detailed screen captures of whats broken pro bono, please feel free to reach out.).

As a long time user and HUGE fan of choice of games and hosted games the new updates to the app and how everything is layed out really puts us off from using this app ever again. Even more, as an old user of the app Ive lost all access to all our previously purchased stories. Wanted to come back and restart but looks like choice of games isnt what it was when they first started.

We absolutely love this app. We wish it was a bit easier to know what was going on with stats and stuff. On browser it is pretty easy, but mobile its not. We also wish there was more games that didnt cost much. Still love it. XOXO Enna.

Hi, its a really great app playing for a few months we are blind so its a very good game for visually impaired but one suggestion now the ants sometimes are not in voiceover accessible. We have to keep closing the app and re-open and re-opening it to find the right ad that we can close on the Voice Over, please make ads voiceover accessible.

We read all the books we were interested in two months ago we need more.

We absolutely love this app. Im playing Chronicon Apocalpytica right and and love how you can choose gender and whether you want romance or not, and also this ones written with enough historical accuracy to make a history nerd like us really really adore it. Im impressed and quite pleased with it, and really, if you consider youd buy a cup of coffee at about the same price as buying one of these games someones labored on for as long as these authors and creators have well, it kind of makes it even more worthwhile playing.

We really like the products this app gives you. You get to read two or three chapters for free for any book that is released to see if your going to like the book and mechanics the authors made; this is immensely helpful in choosing purchases and knowing you are going to enjoy them. There are lots of genres and even author categories (they are pretty good authors) to help you in your search of picking your favorite book/games out of the bunch. There even a free section, while most book will make you watch an ad to read still theres are a bunch of free books to enjoy. For beginners you should probably start with something to learn the mechanics like choice of dragon we also liked choice of the Vampire at first and both are free to play. Give the ap a try its frustration free and full of enjoyment. But befor you make a purchase do make an account just in case something happens. Our suggestion would be let us write reviews or give a link so we can support our favorite creators in making us our beloved content through the app for people that dont have social media. It would be nice to express our excitement and appreciation to some of the incredible authors that use this forum as a medium to give us there creations. Their are probably places out of this app to find them but we dont know where to look.

Hello! Before we begin, we are not slandering Choice Of Games in any way! They are amazing and the games they help produce are fantastic! We have been using them and Hosted Games for years! Here is the only issue and it isnt a huge deal. But when you want to buy a book/game from Hosted Games or Choice of Games. We implore you to buy it from their website ChoiceOfGames.com. If you buy it off the app it wont show up on your Profile online. But if you buy it from the online store it will show up on both! If you keep a record of what you bought they will add it to your online account but it takes a while to get a response and for them to add it. Keep it up.

This is a good app, but you should make all of your games available as stand alone apps. Android has had them for years. Take it from a former Android user. IOS should have them too.

Its honestly a good app with amazing fun. Needs a little bit more stuff but it has some pretty amazing adventures.

We wish they had more free stories.

Why does steam get new stories but this mobile app doesnt get any new stories that came out this month.

We dont really comment on anything ever but we just have to say we LOVE this app. It has a wide range of stories all of which are long and super interesting. It adapts to your sexually, gender, and pronouns has a diverse cast of characters all without sacrificing story. While you do have to pay for a lot of the games it is worth it as you can play it multiple times and even if you dont want to do you can always play free games which are also really good. For free games we would suggest Hollywood visionary, choice of deathless, and Noblesse Oblige. If you have a couple of bucks to spare we absolutely adore Crme de la crme and the fog knows your name. Though there are a couple of things such as having to restart every time you mess up and go back all the way to the beginning, their should be checkpoints through out so thats not as much of an issue. But, if you are looking for a break from the other choose your own adventure stories featuring limited character creation options and limited freedom in choice then we highly suggest this game for you.

Very interesting and well written stories. Good job.

Im a huge sucker for this map and thrive off of playing a game where we can control how the main character turns out. We get to live through them and have our wildest dreams come true, like getting good grades in school. Only thing we have to critique is that we wish games were more frequently released, but honestly we prefer waiting months for an awesome game than to have a bunch of okay games during the same timeframe. Tell your authors that theyre awesome and that we love them.

There are a great variety of games on this app. They are mostly all written very well, and you can preview games before buying them or play the free games! They have a good reputation with creators as well.

Almost all the books are worth the money and the stories are amazing and you can tell a lot of effort was put into them zoo.

The text adventure games are fun, however, when Im done watching the ads, it is not allowing us to close them with voiceover on.

We love this game, and we understand the ads bring in needed revenue, but since the last time we played, there seem to be more ads than before. This is because, when we finish a chapter of a story, there is a 2 hour timer to play more. We close the story and wait, and when we come back, we have to play an ad to open the story again. Then, once the story is open, we have to watch ANOTHER ad to open the next chapter. Two in a row feels redundant. If they were just when we opened the story or between chapters Id understand, although having them when we open a story is annoying if we accidentally click out of a story and have to watch an ad to go back into it. Lastly, one of the ads that played was horrible and disturbing, depicting a cartoon woman cornered in an alleyway and the legs of the man cornering her as he dropped his pants. It then showed the woman pregnant. Its clear that was one of those cheap games that uses shock value to peddle their puzzle game and doesnt actually have that content in it (we looked at the reviews for THAT app) but we wish yall could perhaps screen the kind of ads you show, or perhaps report one, as there was no way to do that.

We were able to continue with a new chapter of a story for $1.99, but after we purchased, it charged us $4.99. App would get a much higher rating if it didnt falsely advertise.

This is a great site for those who love interactive games with a large story element. Essentially, these are novels where you get to make the choices of the main character! Choices offers some really great and engaging stories on here, both unpaid (with ads) and paid (although the better, longer stories are paid). We also recommend Hearts Choice for those that love games with a focus on romance. There are some games with romance on this general app, but the stories are tailored more to romance on Hearts Choice. Overall, great app! Plenty of wonderful interactive stories on offer.

Its a wonderful app, but we have this to say. Not to complain, or critique here, but are the ads really necessary? If we're trying to play one of your games, and this goes for heart's choice and honted games too, we'd rather not have ads pop up and make it impossible to read. Besides that, and the fact that we only get a sample of the game which means having to buy it later, its a great app. Money isn't everything of course, we just wish the games weren't expensive like they have been getting recently, we mean five to seven dollars.

We really wanted to like this app but there are a few things wrong. First: the logo looks like the sonnenrad. Thats a symbol used by ne0-n4zis and having something so similar on our screen creeps us out. Second: as far as we know, theres no way to disable ads entirely from the app. Thats very frustrating because having ads is very distracting and takes you out of the story. Third: there seems to be no way to have global dark mode on the app. You can put on dark mode for stories but the spots the adds take up will still be very bright. These are all fairly easy fixes so the app still has potential, but as it stands right now we cant see ourselves using it a lot.

Some of the stories from Choice of Games are not only encapsulatingly good, they are innovative and inspiring! Writers can submit their crafts to the company for publication and readers can access their novels at very reasonable prices. Our only concern is that some of their works lie outside this app ( our favorites being Zombie Exodus ). Its worth noting also that a purchase restoration isnt tying our account to them but they are so good, Ill pay for them twice if need be. The written treasures within await.
