A Glimpse into Cold War Dare

The year is 1989. You are President of the United States in transforming times. After forty years of oppression, the people of Eastern Europe are daring to defy their Communist overlords at home and in the Soviet Union. And as President, you too face daring decisions: how far will you go to encourage democratic reform? How much will you risk a Soviet crackdown on these freedom-seeking peoples? Will your efforts help bring democracy to Eastern Europe, or will you provoke the Soviet Union to bring down its wrath, setting the cause of freedom back by decades?

This is a strategy game about presidential decision-making in the context of the Bush 41 presidency in those epochal years of 1989 and 1990. As Poland legalizes Solidarity, as the Berlin Wall falls, as people in every country take to the streets seeking greater freedom and human rights, the world is changing under your feet. As President, you must analyze changing situations, weigh risks, and make decisions, all while trying to keep your alliances healthy, your relationships with foreign leaders strong, and the drive towards freedom and democracy always moving forward. And in the end, you can compare your successes and failures with those of President Bush 41.

Okay, the app is great and educational. But! It freezes once it gets to 1990 in spring. We dont know why, but it freezes. Hey maybe winter is coming!

Here are a few ideas if you do update it add more presidents you can play as, and even make it so you can play the Soviet Union just some ideas.

This is an excellent educational game that is a quick play and free; it serves its task wellrecalling what it takes to "win" at the Cold War. The app can be a bit challenging to maneuver, but this app is an improvement over the web version. It is also more forgiving if you wish to restart the one campaign of the game. The playability is of course limited (historically), but if you play with the settings you can play a bit of alternate history along the way. We highly recommend this game for teens and up; folks of all ages interested in history will find this game interesting!

This is the best game we ever had. Its very realistic. And we love that you have to make the right choices. Just bush was not president during the Cold War. And other countries as well where in the Cold War like China. And you forgot about the sues crisis in the Middle East. The president when the Berlin Wall fell was Ronald Reagan not bush and the War was between 20 and 30 years not 2.

This game is awesome! DO NOT judge this game by its graphics, it is AMAZING.

Maybe add more contenents, add some more countries in europe, like Italy, Spain, Yugoslavia, not just the based ones.

We really enjoy this game, but there’s not a difference between the three game modes. It also freezes a lot, normally when we’re actually doing well. The freezing has been causing us a lot of trouble while playing.

Its a very good educational game but its so short and end very soon.

This is a great game that we definitely enjoy playing. But theres a minor bug in the game where sometimes the bar at the bottom of the screen just disappears, and all you can do is start over and hope it doesnt happen again. Like we said , other than that its great.

This game was fun, we genuinely enjoyed it, but the harder difficulties seemed to be less strategy based and more based on RNG, we found myself doing perfectly but then a random event makes it impossible to win.

We have had this game for years and we play it frequently to see different outcomes, but with a new update, we cant get past 1990. This frustrates us so much because we love this game.

Good game. Very educational. We had a great first playthrough. During the next five or six, events had such different results that it became really difficult. A lot of it seems to be based on chance.

Its a great game overall, but it keeps freezing.

Can we expand the game to the entire world?

Great game. Awesome concept, horrible implementation. It frequently crashes before we even get through a round. Dont waste your time, it will only break your heart.

The game itself is great but there are a lot of bugs and it constantly freezes and you end up having to restart the game over. We think some new features such as saving progress and fixing these problems would really help in a lot of ways. We can not even begin to say how much of a headache it is when this game crashes constantly and we end up having to restart our tablet just to have to restart the process over again.

Every time we go to play it it crashes please fix it.

Every time we hit the get started button, it crashes.

Of course, Uncle Sam acts and opines in and about regions of the world it has no business doing so, except, to do "business". Ask Russia how great the "Democracy" in the 90s under Yeltsin was. Jeffrey Sachs, the Dr. Mengle of economics created an austerity regime that starved two million ordinary Russian people to death. Americans don’t know that. Sanitizing the history of The Evil Empire (the one still standing, barely) allows for the continuation of similar atrocities that are taking place now.

Every time Im about to beat the game and make every country democratic itll freeze.

This game is complete anti communist propaganda. Why don’t we see the soviet side?! They were human.

It was Reagan who won the Cold War. It’d be nice if the Bush ’41 library could admit that up front.

Hey, we really want to try and enjoy this, but we can’t get into the game. It plays the intro sequence but every time we hit "get started", the game kicks us out. Please take the time to fix this.

Whenever we press get started the game crashes.

Pretty much this entire game is nothing but RNG. Your choices dont matter because RNG will mess you up anyway.
