History of cryptograms
The ciphers used in cryptograms were not originally created for entertainment purposes but for real encryption of military or personal secrets.
The first use of the cryptogram for entertainment purposes occurred during the Middle Ages by monks who had spare time for intellectual games. A manuscript found at Bamberg states that Irish visitors to the court of Merfyn Frych, king of Gwynedd in Wales, were given a cryptogram which could only be solved by transposing the letters from Latin into Greek. In the 19th century, Edgar Allan Poe helped to popularize cryptograms with many newspaper and magazine articles.
Well-known examples of cryptograms in contemporary culture are the syndicated newspaper puzzles Cryptoquip and Cryptoquote.

We just wanted to say that the high score leaderboard doesnt make sense the highest score currently is 1,700,000 if that person on average solves a legendary one every minute without using hints he will have to be playing for two days and six hours at least that is 54 hours of the week we did the math.
Im surprised this puzzle game doesnt have more recognition. Its very smooth and interesting to play.
Fun gam, great quotes, battle mode is great, we play it a lot! Only feedback: there are some quotes missing punctuation, its confusing how the leagues work with all the different numbers etc., wish we could change our screen name again but it seems like this was taken away, would be cool to be able to battle in legendary mode.
The game is created without all the extra steps of lots of options and separate pages it gives you difficulty levels, genres, and the interface is easy. We appreciate a fun and easy to play game created for all types of players.

Holy moly after completing the very easy tutorial you can pick popular and choose from a bunch of genres and Ive been using anime and it has a bunch of good quotes and Ive been grinding.
We were really enjoying this word puzzle game – Untilsome VERY inappropriate images appeared in an ad. Too bad. Not too many ads, but when rated R material shows up im done.
Enjoyed the game except the banner add directly over the keyboard is WAY too distracting and annoying. Deleted it.
We enjoy this app very much, and we play all day long. We would really enjoy an ad-free version.
We love this game but it has a glitch sometimes. Ill complete a game and itll say we still have to finish it even though we did.
For creating something easy and intuitive to use.
We use an iPadPro with an attached keyboard. The keyboard makes it easier for one to enter data. However, portrait mode makes it harder to enter data than no keyboard at all and this app wont change to landscape mode. Its useless to us.
Fun, challenging, and if you like – competitive! Ive always enjoyed cryptograms but Ive never competed at it. This now our favorite part of the game. Still relaxing and fun too. Things Id love to see added: league chat and the ability to choose your name game assigns you a name. Ours is BlushLimpet15. Really?).
Literally five stars just because of the Edgar Allan Poe category. Ive been playing nonstop and still havent gotten any copies of ones Ive done before. Amazing and simple layout.
Great game except the hints are utterly useless. Asked for a hint on a particularly challenging Hard level. Hint: W=G! Great! Except theres not a single W (or G) for that matter in the given cryptogram. We understand this helps to eliminate that letter as a possibility, even if not included in the given quote, but it just feels like a waste of a hint – especially if you asked for a hint only because youre absolutely stumped. Otherwise a great game.
We really liked this game but when we got our new phone today we lost all our progress! Very disappointed. Its fair to say we wont be playing anymore.
We love that it doesn't use much power, not data. Quick levels, very fun, and very addictive. One of our favorite mobile games ever.

This app is very well done. Challenging, yet you can choose your difficulty level. We were expecting ads to pop up after every game but there are very few ads which we are grateful for. There is nothing more annoying than endless ad after ad. Kudos to the developers for recognizing what a turn off it is. The developers that insist on bombarding you with ads are shooting themselves in the foot because we know many people delete the app like we do after playing for 10 minutes and 8 of those minutes are ads. You wont be disappointed if you download this app, its our new favorite game. Well done.

This game is super fun! We love the premise and how much you can customize your experience, we seriously wish every app would give us the option to chose the font, color scheme, controls, etc our only issue is whenever we open the app the keyboard control buttons are changed to type 3 instead of what we chose (type 1).
Ive been looking for a cryptogram app for what seems like years, and this is the best one by far.
Love the game!!! Only problem is the settings wont stay selected once you leave the setting screen (Ill go to turn off vibration and it turns itself back on).
Pretty cool game, we like how challenging it is, lowkey afraid to try the hard levels haha, Ill just keep the level on normal Thanks for the game.
To the point. Numerous difficulties, multiple categories, and for the competitive a league/ leaderboard. We would like two minor things; 1 being the ability to change our name for the league and 2 the ability to submit quotes into certain categories. We just have a lot of games and anime quotes to share ;) Great game.
Only thing keeping this from being a five star are the hints. We try to use them, but they just make no sense to us. We got one that said Z = L, and both of them were not options to type. We could just be a bit stupid and not understand how they work, but we feel like Im not alone.
We used to do the CryptoQuote (by L. Campos) in our daily local paper. We had to end our subscription because we found $0.35 was too much for a puzzle. Now we get to do the whenever we like for FREE.
Difficult but not too difficult.
Never successful with cryptograms till this app, now Im confident with them.
