DEEMO II – Music Game Review
![]()
DEEMO II is a Music/Adventure game from Rayark International Limited, first launched in 12th January 2022.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 3,688+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes DEEMO II Stand Out
Just in time for Rayark's 10th anniversary comes a sequel to their classic IP, DEEMO.
A kingdom created through music faces an uncertain future after a monster called 'The Ancestor' plagues the land with a destructive 'Hollow Rain'. This dangerous rain causes anyone it touches to 'bloom', turning into a flurry of white flower petals and ultimately vanishing from existence.
DEEMO II follows Echo, a girl who has bloomed but mysteriously re-appeared, and Deemo, an enigmatic station Guardian, as they journey through this rain-soaked world in hopes of finding a way to save it.
Features:
▲A Mysterious and Emotional Story:
Why did 'The Composer', the elusive being who created this world, suddenly abandon it? Why and how did Echo bloom and then come back to life? Accompany Echo as she uncovers the secrets behind these questions, journeying to uncover the truth and save the world.
▲A Combination of Rhythm and Adventure:
Explore Central Station with Echo, interacting with your surroundings as you get to know the many station residents while discovering clues and 'Charts', magical pieces of music with the power to clear away Hollow Rain. As Deemo you'll play those Charts, putting your musical skills to the test in fun and challenging rhythm sections, ultimately moving the story forward.
▲30 Core Songs + DLC Song Packs for a Total of 120+ Tracks:
Composers from around the world, including Japan, Korea, Europe and the Americas, have created an eclectic array of tracks for DEEMO II with an emphasis on acoustic instrumentation. Genres include Classical, Jazz, Chill Pop, J-Pop, and more. Infectious, emotive melodies will give music lovers dozens of fast favorites, and creative, syncopated rhythms will make sure rhythm-game aficionados have plenty to sink their teeth into.
▲Make Friends with Over 50 Station Residents:
Central Station is full of characters with their own personalities and stories. As Echo, you can chat with them as they walk about Central Station, living their lives, opening paths to different topics depending on the situation. As you talk with them and get to know them, you'll start to feel like you're part of an eccentric new community.
▲Storybook Graphics and Artstyle:
DEEMO II marries hand-drawn backgrounds with 3D models and a meticulous attention to detail that will make you feel like you're caught in a storybook, or an anime come to life.
▲Movie-Quality Animated Scenes:
DEEMO II is full of high-quality anime cutscenes, fully voiced by professional Japanese voice actors. Pair that with music composed by DEEMO and Sdorica vets, and you've got an audio and visual treat.
Rayark is well-versed in rhythm-game production, with popular titles like Cytus, DEEMO, Voez, and Cytus II under their belt. They are well-known for mixing fun and fluid rhythm gameplay with visual flair and deep storylines, providing full, rewarding experiences to get lost in.

Player Experience Highlights
Community Insight:
We cant play this game without being emotional the plot and storyline is so justIST SO GOOD. AND IM GONNA HWVE BREAKDOWN WHEN we FINSH THE GAME.
We have been looking for this game for years. Luckily we looked up google and found it.
So we really love this we havent finished it yet Im on chapter 4 and love all the charactersexcept walker but this game too we cant even explain it we just we have started crying a few times its too good to be true!!! Just well we wish it would go into more of echos past life Im a little confused if shes been in central station a long time or not how old is she because she looks really young like 7 or 8 years old and we DEFINITELY like this game better then the other one so love the game bye.
To be honest we love this game the characters are cute and we think this game would be the best.
Did anyone else cry at the end??? Like Echos our girl we love her so much.
Very different from the first game but the atmosphere is incredible. We want to get through this story but it can be buggy at times. We've been stuck twice now while navigating the station. For example, when we were introduced to the event tickets, the screen would stop all dialogue and remain on the same scene. Tapping anywhere does not progress from that stuck state. We really want to enjoy this experience but the bugs are making it difficult. It would be a 5/5 if not for minor problems such as this.
We havent even played it fully through yet but this game is the best! The characters are cute, the songs are complicated in a good way (unless you choose easy), and the story mode is sooo adorable!!! Im surprised this isnt being talked about at all! If your looking for a rhythm game we would recommend this one.
Hi- to start this off we really love this game! We like how it's like other rhythm games, but you can actually interact and not just play music. In this game you can actually progress and interact with other characters, you can talk to them and move around, which we think is brilliant. And there's different modes, easy normal hard and you can adjust the speed of the notes and also there is no ads yippeee.
This game can be played for free with the option to purchase additional songs if you choose. That said, the amount of songs this game gives you to play is quite insane. We felt like as if we were playing a game we had purchased on Steam. There are no ads. The animation, gameplay, and story are beautiful and fun. There is no limit to how often you play and you are free to explore a world that expands as you finish each chapter we highly recommend this game to everyone who is interested.
This game is so cool and the graphics are beautiful we really dont have words to describe it.
Graphics10/10 Story line 9/10 (a bit confusing) Controls 10/10 very easy to use Overall 10/10 good game.
First and foremost, understand that all reviews are opinions as is our own, people will like or dislike the game according to their preferences. That being said, here is ours: (FTP and have finished the story) First of all: we enjoy the music. It follows a more classical feel or orchestral for most of the songs given by the main story (with a few exceptions). While this may not be everyones favorite genre, it actually fits with the storys narrative a lot more IMO than more popular titles. There are a lot of songs to play, and there are more you can obtain behind grinding or a paywall (as is very common in mobile games) Second, gameplay: its definitely got a charm to design, will say though that when you hit lvl 10+ difficulty it gets pretty insane for notes, but otherwise very doable. Less forgiving it seems like than the original, but that doesnt make much of a difference IMO. We would have rather the story been more difficult to unlock/achieve the ending than simply progress by playing songs. Third, Story: not as fond of the acting, but the story and how they represent the aspects of the medical condition (no spoilers here) are by far a beautifully orchestrated piece, better understood if you are familiar with the underlying issue. The way the protagonist interacts with the surrounding characters and objects was excellently executed. Fourth, an expectation: understand that if you are looking for a copy of the original game you will not find that, games are rarely ever the same and those coming while expecting a replica will be dissatisfied. It is not the same game, the similarities are in the fact that you have piano tiles, and a well thought out story. Overall: the game is great, if you want more popular music then dip back to the original or go play cytus. But if you enjoy more piano and are looking for a good story then we sincerely recommend it. Also thank you devs for this game. Ive had a couple family members with the same issue and recognized a lot of the reactions the main character did. And the story really does give an excellent example of what happens with the medical issue in question. We have sincerely enjoyed this game and hope to see another well thought out story just like the first two.
There needs to be more review talking about how amazing this story is. It had us crying on a Friday afternoon for a solid 10 minute. We start getting teary every time we boot up the app afterwards. We dont want to spoil too much but this is definitely a well written story that evoked a lot of emotions. The music and graphics made it 1000% more entertaining but also ties to the story building as well. Im going to tell everyone we know about this game because its such a fun game with a great underlying story to tell, and its completely free (except the add ons). EVERYONE NEEDS TO HOP ON THIS GAME ASAP.
This game is more than it seems. It is so much more than it seems. The storyline is worth your time, trust.
The graphics, broken-buildings-and-flowers aesthetic, and the story is so muAh This game is so cozy and criminally underrated, highly recommend for causal and pro gamers alike!! That said, the game seems very monetized (albums cost a lot of Crystals, and u only get trickles of Crystals a day), but its not a huge biggie for us since we just love playing a lot of the free/event songs for fun! If u dont mind grinding to get a select few albums you love, youll enjoy being a free-to-play player! And with tHat said, we just finished one of the huge month-long concert events and totally forgot to use up the Star Points we collected through out the event! Im down to very little event tickets too we know other games keep the event shops up for a few days or so so players can spend their earned currency. That wouldve been nice for this event and future events too TwT.
Great story line, really nice art, calming music, just like, everything is sooo nice. We dont really know what to say except that this game is so amazing and we definitely recommend it, if u like music games and story based games. :3.
This game went from "oh, a rhythm game with a story… Neat" to one of the most amazing narrative games of the year with the 4.0 update. Absolutely you owe it to yourself to play through this game and experience the full story. Mechanically, the game has significantly improved with the removal of flick notes. We think our only remaining complaints are that paid items (tickets) get deleted if you have too many, and that favoriting songs requires buying a season pass AND another purchase if you have a lot of favorite songs. Which, if you do it means you've bought a lot so… Just let people who support you have that.
Demo is so well played that our dad is picky on games and then he said yes! And it was the experience of our life! Graficks so well played.
Amo el juego us parece muy divertido muy completo hermosas msicas pero no se ingles, us gustara que estuviera en espaol plis.
Great game love it, its so fun and interactive.
This is a great game with tons of callbacks to the original Deemo, but we got through the three chapters in three or four days. For anyone reading this debating whether or not to get it, that doesnt mean there isnt a lot in this game, quite the opposite. But this game is so good that we will spend a good hour or hour and a half each day on this game. Please, please, PLEASE make more because this is an absolute gem but it needs more. We dont care if it is just one more chapter, but we need you to get the rest of the content out.
We live for the music and the ability to make it how you like and we love how the music plays and the angelic tone to all of them so far the games very enjoyable in our opinion.
Its great its beautiful its fun now finish the game.
The game is fun and it good if you want to learn piano, but if there was something that told you what you had to do and more things to do we think that would add more pop to the game.
Its an amazing app and all, we love the animation and the storyline. But the rhythm game is super hard lol you have to master it and it goes SUPER fast. Although we do recommend buying this app as it is still VERY fun.
IPads and Android phones have had 120hz for 5 years, iPhones have had it for 2, please give us 120fps support.
Very pretty game play is fun though we wish it was easier to figure out how to calibrate for headphones.
Loved Deemo to death, hadnt found the time to get into this sequel. But hearing that the company fired humans to replace their hard work on the games beautiful art with AI art has soured our memories of the first game and destroyed our interest in the second. When all artists are out of work, who will the AI steal from to produce its inferior junk art, have you considered that? Hire back your human artists and PAY THEM PROPERLY.
Company fired their whole art team to use AI generated art, disappointing. Wont be supporting this game any longer.
We cannot support a company that fired its artists to use AI art instead.
Loved this game to death and we were still looking forward to new updates but we cannot thoroughly enjoy it anymore due to AI art being prioritized over ACTUAL artists. Do better rayark.
We really loved this game when we played it, it has a sort of calming soundtrack from what we remember, and we enjoyed the overall feel and art style. Unfortunately, the company who made this game recently fired all of their artists and replaced them with AIs, which is something wrong on many levels. Often capable artists have trouble finding jobs and making adequate amounts of money, and on top of that AIs are trained off of non-consenting artists work. Artists deserve to be paid, and their art shouldnt be used for this kind of thing without their consent. We cant bring ourselves to continue playing their games if this is the way they treat their artists.
Its jarring and insulting. The most heart-touching pieces are drawn by human artists, and their feelings cannot be replicated by a computer. We cannot support a game who fired all their artists to be replaced by cheap AI.
We love this game since deemo 1 and the dev is amazing, since first release the game always crash on our ipad 6th gen but they already patch it and had a great performance on our device.
The first one was the best we planet for heathers for heart but.
Currently Ive only done chapter one of the story, but we enjoy what theyre setting up. A lot of the songs are pretty good, although some are misses, though thats expected with every rhythm game. The visuals are IMMACULATE and just looking at the game is pure eye candy. The use of colors is beautiful and we love the wonky town people! Great game, very fun and pretty.
Honestly this is some of the best music from a rhythm game Ive heard especially on a mobile game too plus the story is great with cutscenes in between definitely high quality and itll be cool to have more people talking about this game.
Ive been playing Deemo 2 for quite some time, until we got bored of it. Why? Its PAY TO WIN. You have to legit PAY to get more song packs, and its just annoying!! We had to rely on the same songs over and over again, and theres absolutely no free songs or song packs. ADD MORE FREE SONGS AND SONG PACKS PLEASE.
A gorgeous game with music that Im having trouble staying awake listening to. If we had to choose to keep just three games on our phone, Id make sure to keep this one.
The game includes many hours of gameplay and was overall the most enjoyable game Ive ever played on our phone. Great music and challenging levels to practice hand eye coordination. Some levels may be very difficult even for people that play the piano (such as us). As well as all this there are very beautiful cut scenes that appear every time you reach a certain checkpoint they are very pretty and some even tell very heartwarming stories. DEEMO II WAS A DISSAPOINTMENT, DO BETTER RAYARK.
This game has been fun loads of graphics, and gameplay , we enjoy playing this game on our free time.
The game is great! The style of the art, the storyline, plot, everything! No argument against those details. Although, we didnt really expect the downloading to be really long for us. We guess im not really complaining since this phone is old, and it may be slow and laggy for downloading time, but otherwisethis game is really what we wanted! The reason why im actually playing this is because the other rythm game we play is taking too long to download on this phone, while we play it on our other phone. Yes its still downloading while im typing this review, but we did watch the trailer and watch others play it so we did get a quick peek of what id be doing throughout our gameplay of it. We did also see the reviews of the first game of this, the original DEEMO, so we are also looking forward to check through that if we want to see what happened first before what happened in this game, DEEMO II.
We dont think we wouldve thought about using a grayish color palette but we will now, Also love the little blob creatures, theyre so adorable.
The only problem we have with this game is that a few days into playing, theres some background piano to the songs. Ive tested it out a few rounds and its the accuracy of how Im playing over the actual song. Its pretty annoying because it doesnt sound nice mixed with the actual music, and even if we get all the notes right with all gold, it still has a delay which makes it sound bad. We never had a problem with it until today which is weird because we made more mistakes then we did now. Everything else about the game is wonderful besides that and we just wanted to let the creators know :).
We recently changed our phone to iPhone 14 Pro Max and the game has a very noticeable frame drop during the entire course of each song (like it feels like less than 20fps) and stutters a lot that it plays even worse than our previous phone iPhone X. We first thought it was because the game was incompatible with ProMotion (120hz) but nope, even if we turn off that feature the game still stutters. Also the developers have been refusing to fix the game often not recognizing our touch. It will be a very long list of occasions in which we couldnt 100% songs just because the game for some reason refused to recognize our touch at most random moments.
