We remember this game back from PC days Im pretty sure. We remember sitting in architecture class back in 07-08 playing this with buddies. Still amazing, love all of the upgrades. Im up to level 55 and its getting crazy. Definitely worth the money and a great game for a casual game player like myself where you dont have to follow a story! Keep it up guys!
Update: Thank you guys for listening. We hope you guys make games as successful as this gem. The review below was from eight years ago. Back when the App Store was in its second year. It looks like the developers pushed an update six years since the last to take it off the naughty list (where it’ll now run on iOS 11). While the game is intact and it feels a little crude given the time since it was released the problem that came up now is the fact that they’ve added ads in between levels. Considering we paid for this game, $2 at the time (not breaking the bank obviously but this is a point of principal), it’s kind of a slap in the face. We’re all for supporting game developers and the devs do have the right to find other sources to make money on existing games. However the devs should make a separate free to play listing and leave this one intact. [[As an owner of both the Wiiware and iTouch version of this app we have got to say that this is the best app on both services. The graphics are funny and the achievement system is an awesome edition (iTouch version). This is such a great buy and a great time killer or for any ocasion. Buy this app now!]]
We remember back in middle school our teacher showed the class the online version of this game and we were hooked. They have built upon the original to make this wonderful definitive version. Even after creating the ultimate castle it was still enjoyable to try to get all the medals. This is a wonderfully fun strategy game we would recommend to anyone. Thanks to the creators for putting a lot of love into this classic game!
We love this game a lot it is great! We know this is ios but we would also purchase this game on steam if you added local multiplayer so we could play with our brother like we did on the wii. Anyways we do recommend this game it is very fun and good to pass time!
Man this is a fun game our only problem is that every time we stopped playing the game our wrist hurt really bad because of all the rapid swiping we were doing.
Great game, really fun. Perfect for a quick, casual play or to spend 15-20 minutes. For some reason though we’ve played to level 50 twice and save the game after each level. For the second time now after reaching 48/51 (basically around 50), the we’ve closed the app and the next time we play, find that Im starting at level 44 again. Each time we’ve started at 44 we also lose any upgrades and achievements. This is a small and annoying issue, but we still love the gameplay. If the save/load gets fixed, we see absolutely no reason for this great game to not have 5 stars.
We were playing this game just fine until about level 17 or 18. The frame rate has dropped to less than half for some reason. We’ve tried restarting our phone and closing all background apps. Im using an iPhone 7. We have no idea what the issue could be. Its really fun, but the frame rate is making it unplayable. :(

It does not accurately retrieve saved games and it is impossible to progress in the game past level 25.

Redownloaded this app after playing it years ago. Ads now is annoying, but negligible. The most annoying thing is that not only are our achievements not saving properly, but the ones that DO save will keep popping up every time we reopen the app. Getting 34 achievements in a row (I’ve actually done 41, but it only saved 34) gets really annoying. Other than that, the gameplay itself is exactly how we remember it and still quite fun. We can save fine, though the autosave popping up first gets annoying as well because it’s often a couple levels behind where we got to.
The new update allows saving your game! However, the trade off is ads have been added! We would give it 5 stars, if it weren’t for the ads!!!! Dump the ads! This game is paid for! Nobody wants or needs to see them! ::: UPDATE ::: The save works, but now? The medals earned are reset. A Heroic game at level 285 opens with no medals, then adds medals that exist for that game & when the game itself is started. In other words, after saving & closing the game, all medals are lost! Down to 3 stars! Fix it! Sir ~Jazz~
You now make your paid gamer watch ads? After years of boasting of your awesome game we’ll be deleting it now. Unbelievable. You make the noobs watch ads. Not a long time fan that’s been playing your games long before pay to win became a thing. Delete.
This is by far one of the most fun apps we have ever played. The way they animated the characters and setting is hilarious, and the gameplay is great as well. Every level is a bit more challenging, which is just our style. $3.00 isn’t worth it. It should be $5.00.
This is the greatest game we’ve played in a while. We highly recommend it!!! We’re on level 46 right now!

Unlike other defense game, Defend Your Castle is charming and hilarious. Everything looks like real life except done with puppets. Even the sound effects matches the look. Screenshots does not do this game justice. It must be seen in motion to experience its charm.
This app is super fun and addictive never ending destructive fun. Its repetitive but thats part of the fun we guess. A great recreation of the previous online version worth the money thanks xgen studious we love your website and we always check for new weekly games.

So at to put down! Love tossing around and blowing up stick figures to clear another level!
This game is so stinkin awesome,not only you get to fling billions of stickmen(which is way cooler than flinging birds at green pigs if you ask us.) you also have to trip thousands of trolls or cyclopses or whatever they are! And you can use magic spells,and hire arrow shooters to shoot EXPLOSIVE’S! But your fort is like invincible if you have 30 repair men! 5 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(But we do love angry birds.)
Pros: -Addictive, but simple enough -Fun by yourself, but EXTREMELY fun with a friend -Humorous -Playable over and over again, doesn’t get old quickly Cons: -The only real downside to this fun app is that the price could definitely be lower. We’re not saying it’s not worth the money, but it would be much nicer if it was $1.99 or less.
This game is incredibly addicting but we accindently exited out of the app and it didn’t save our game so put a save option in so it saves for you after every level.
Really fun but ours keeps crashing and bringing us back to home screen! Please fix soon!!!!! We wish we could play it all the time but with all the bugs we get to fustrated please do a quick update fixing this…! :( we will give you the 5 stars when you fix this app!!!! The reason we gave it one star is because the game crashes on start up, you see the xgen logo or whatever and then crashes, once this is fixed we’ll be happy to give five stars.
We love this game, but it won’t open! It won’t get past the logo page before it cuts off. We’re kind of upset about this. Please fix it soon, so that we can play and give it 5 stars again!!! :D.
Sorry but we used to enjoy playing this game but ever since we got the new iOS 5 it just keeps crashing after the logo screen. Please patch this up.

We played the game on the wii ware and this has more to do. Its cheaper and easier. It does get repetive but hey. We got it for free and we paid 10 bucks on the wii ware. We also played the orignal on addicting games.

Played this probably ten years ago on the computer. Wish it was free as it is online but it still fun.
We also played this on our Wii. Fun if a little repetitive after awhile. You know what would help add to the fun? That’s right GameCenter integration for achievements (medals) or leaderboards. Please consider it :) -Thri11Ki11.
This game is a classic! We remember playing the original on the computer but we personally prefer these updated graphics, we think the "crafty" barbarians are better! Now you just need to make a Motherload and Interactive buddy for ios!
We’ve played this game for quite sometime now but what it needs is more power-ups an being able to upgrade your towers more further. If this were to happen this would make the game more fun then what is now for us gamers worldwide. Please look into it sincerely; Miah0007.
Great game. Only issue is it doesn’t allow us to create save files. When we do it freezes. That means you can only have one current game file. Not a big deal. Incredible game overall.

Great and fun game if you have a really good apple device but according to a lot of other reviews, there’s a bug in the startup.
We have the 4th gen itouch with iOS 5.01 we were afraid to get this game at first because some people says that this game crashes a lot and they can’t get past the xgen logo but it worked right away for us you should try it.
We have to admit, we wasn’t expecting much. But we were pleasently suprised with what this was. There are plenty of upgrades to keep you going, and its one of the better castle defense games we’ve seen.
Awesome… All except the save button, which doesn’t work for the iphone 6…
You guys need to bring other classic Chen games like stick rpg and motherload to iOS!

We finally got an iPhone again and decided to install the game again… It’s fun but we can’t save, others say it crashes or freezes, but for us it just won’t let us save. We press the home button and go back to the game and we can continue playing but it would be nice to be able to save… We would just have to keep the game open and never shut it down… But whatever. Oh well…
This is definately one of our favourite games of all time. It’s the one we can keep coming back to no matter how long it’s been. Unfortunately, trying to save freezes the game. That’s really unfortunate, and I’d love to see a fix for it.

Still an overall fun game. But all the reviews are years old and the issue with not being able to save has NOT been fixed still. Come on guys people pay $3 for a game that you can’t save on?
