Loved the game and very difficult first play through overthrown by military and second had to step down. Would be nice to rotate screen on iPad.
It is really fun and informational at parts. We learned a few new things after searching it up but its very fun. We like the little jokes in there and will be playing this game several more times.
When Solidarity Forever plays the machine voice is kind of too loud and off putting compared to the rest of the music.

We like to keep reviews concise, so here goes: Pros: – amazing & unique concept, we’ve never seen something like this before – beautiful aesthetic – adorable animal creatures & creative names and references / Easter eggs – great renditions of The Internationale and Solidarity Forever – easy to play, just swipe left or right – actually provides an eye-opening perspective on the difficulties of running a country and the complexity of politics – you cant just bulldoze your way through with your political opinions, you actually need to account for budget, climate, congressional support, and image/optics. – even as a leftist, we learned new things here – we learned about different policy proposals and solutions we havent heard of before Cons: – we wish there were a save button. We couldnt find one in the current version of the app, and this simulation can take a while.
As a fellow Leftist, we deeply enjoy this game. Sure, it is focused on a very improbable reality, but a fantasy can still blossom a sense of pride for most. Unfortunately, what is applied here is considered radical in our American political climate when it should be fundamental, but we wont dive into that element deeply for the sake of brevity. We do, on the other hand, think that some improvement can be made. Firstly, we would pay to see what it would be like to get to play for longer than two terms. We cant just let FDR be the only one, right? Another thing, we think that the music could be a bit more original. We love it and we totally get it, the music has a background, it fits to the theme, but we think something new can get our minds off the past and on to a better future. A future of reform. But, otherwise, its a nice use of the chorus of Solidarity Forever and the tune to The Internationale. Overall, it the best-ish game of its type (up next to Reigns). We must embrace communism.
As a young socialist, we absolutely love this game. However, maybe add more things that can happen? We’ve been playing this game enough to know that its the same events just shuffled around. Maybe add events that will only happen in 1/10 simulations, such as mass riots across the country, a nationwide drought, or just something to make it less repetitive.
We feel like this games purpose is to prove that democratic socialism does not work. We tried everything we could to stay in power and balance the budget but it is very difficult and the reality in the United States government. The farthest we have made it was to the second midterm after our reelection.
Some people here dont understand the difference between fun and unbiased. The developer never even pretended to be unbiased. If the game consisted of nothing but Venezuela-style hyperinflation it wouldnt be very fun, yet the mere possibility of an economically successful socialism constitutes bias? That is what we call poor media analysis.

As an ancap, our hopes for this game were not high based on title alone, but it didnt take long to realize the free market succeeds again! A perfect political game for a 20 min break that addresses many ideas, and (as we’ve experienced) does not try to force you to be a certain politician. We managed to make it through as an ancap! Wonderful game all around!
We had a ton of fun with this the first go around. The headlines from the various satirical news outlets are the funniest part.
We love this game! Our one suggestion is that you allow players to turn off all sound effects. Thats its one flaw!
To the people giving it one star because theyre conservative: learn how to read. It literally says in the description the player is the first SOCIALIST president of the US.
Great game. They need to make your terms as President a little longer and add more options. But overall great. This should make a libertarian version of this.

Im very bad at this game we always make it to the 8th year and either resign or get overthrown now that could be due to the fact that we are literally on the exact opposite side of a political compass to a socialist but apart from that this games characters are amazingly well drawn and we love the art style and the music is perfect for the design of the game but one thing that we cannot find is the games soundtrack please release it.

It is so detailed and complex. We downloaded this 18 hours ago and we’ve spent 6 hours on this game, so addictive!
It helps us understand the reasons behind the decisions that politicians make. We also get to learn new political concepts that we never bothered to learn about.
Its really hard to know where it stands, it says stuff that no Democrat would ever say about their policies, we genuinely cant tell if they are simply insane or a republican making fun of the Democrats, either way its fun. Also, if you genuinely believe in socialism, pls just start your own country instead of hyjacking ours…

This app does a great job of simulating the challenges left wing candidates face and the many ways to tackle them. No route is perfect. There are realistic costs. Users can choose their own goals. Cool idea. Surprisingly difficult.
Downloaded the game yesterday. One decision was about LGBT discrimination in the workplace so we passed a law that protected them from job discrimination. Today, just got the news that they actually passed a law that protected from from discrimination. Nice. Anyways, the game is actually pretty interesting. You can tell the creator done a lot of research on some of the topics. They werent too in your face about it either. Developer, please fix some issues with the game crashing and allow rotation support.
It is definitely one of the weirder games we’ve played, but still had fun playing. We basically told the defense industry to shove it while promoting healthcare for all, free education, etc and was overthrown by the military.
We love this game! Whenever Im stressed about the state of electoral politics, Ill just open this app and win two terms as the nations first Socialist President. Its a welcome placebo when we see so many people acting against their best interests every Election Day. Thank you.

The game is a lot of fun and the puns and dialogue are really well done, but does anyone else think its weird that this game drops a hard f bomb during one of the lines even though the game is rated 9+? Im fine with it, it just caught us off guard.
Its a good game but the issue is that it promotes a space for a dystopian future. Actually it shows how many ways this kind of government could fail so. 5 stars.
Such a great game! While much of it is rooted in satire with playful jargon, we really appreciated their touching on issues 100% relevant. While it was only a game it forced us to think about a bunch of different issues. Thanks!
This games is great we love it we wish it would pace out longer and record presidency terms to review how long and compare your terms with previous attempts that would be our only suggestion with the addition of maybe asking for a name before you start your first term so you can also use that as a statistical identifier to compare each term youve had over the time played. Also maybe a share button of your stats and more in-depth of how you did and how it affected the next election. The game reminds us of reigns in so many ways. Even with all that being said and suggestions we love this game and play often looking for new combinations to have as close to a socialist but near communist utopia :)

We were worried it would go a bit overboard with the socialist options (even though im a socialist myself) but it offers a variety of political options to produce a wide variety of outcomes to the simulation that are always fun to play through! We love learning about issues that the US is tackling as we speak, and potential hypothetical solutions. 10/10!
This is pretty funny. All the answers are designed to make you look bad and overall the best word to describe it is satire. If your looking for a game laugh at this is definitely the one. For all those people saying propaganda, yeah. It is. Doesnt mean you have to agree with it.
Dont let the S word in the title scare you! DSS is a wonderful little game that is highly replayable. It is a political game, to be sure, but its message isnt heavy handed and has a fun satirical vibe. Give it a try, have an open mind, and have fun!
