Description

Dissembler is a subtle puzzle game about unraveling playful, abstract artworks one color at a time.

Winner of the Excellence in Design award at Freeplay 2018.

“If you’re a puzzle fan, I can’t stress it enough — you need to play this game.” — AppUnwrapper

“Dissembler is one of those puzzle games that just feels good to play around with, but it backs that simple joy with a solid spate of puzzles and gameplay modes.” — Shaun Musgrave, Touch Arcade

About the game:

Flip pairs of tiles to make matching color groups vanish, but that’s where the resemblance to a standard match-three ends. In Dissembler no tiles will drop in to replace the ones you’ve matched: your task is to remove all tiles and leave behind a clean slate. The experience starts simply, leading you gently from basic principles to more complex puzzles, but before long it will require careful planning and lateral thinking.

■ Beautifully-presented minimalist puzzle game with chilled original soundtrack

■ Every one of the 171 puzzles is a hand-made work of art with no randomness

■ Experiment freely – undo any number of moves at any time without any penalty

■ Buy once and enjoy forever – no in-app purchases!

■ Free daily puzzles, plus step-by-step solutions revealed the next day

■ Infinite mode offers an endless play mode with Game Center leaderboard

■ Color-blind mode makes Dissembler accessible to more players

Dissembler Reviews

Not sure, we tried disabling and re-enabling the audio to no avail.

Dissembler is such a smart and elegant puzzle game that perfectly rides the line between satisfyingly challenging and frustrating. We have only gotten really stuck on one of the puzzles and we happily came back to it periodically over almost a year to solve it. It is intuitive rather than irritating and the laid-back minimal style always makes it enjoyable. An all-time great.

Dissembler is an enjoyable way to pass the time. The sounds and graphics are simple and sleek. The only qualm is there is one puzzle that seems to be unsolvable. Unfortunately, the stages arent numbered to be able to direct our question to the app makers. *** Addendum to this review: we reached out to the creator of the app via email with a screenshot of the stage. Ian quickly provided guidance to help us to solve the stage! Thank you for your response and for creating such an interesting and entertaining game. If you enjoy logic puzzles, you will love this game.

We are blown away by how clever and polished this game is. Its really addictive in a good way. The puzzles are fun to solve but never get old. Hope more people give this game a try, and we hope it gets tons of sales because it deserves it!

Hands down, this is one of the best puzzle games in the App Store. Not only are there over a hundred puzzles as part of the main game, but also an infinite mode, and six new puzzles EVERY day. We havent missed a day since we bought the game more than a year ago. Dissembler is a model mobile application!

We love this game! Its quickly become our favorite! When Im doing other things we cant wait to get back to it! The puzzles are so much fun and the harder ones are so satisfying when you finally click that last piece. One of the things we like the best is that you can go into options and click a box to see ALL the puzzles in the game. Developers- thank you so much for that. Im the kind of person who likes to try puzzles ahead of where Im at in the game. Its nice that they dont have to be solved in chronological order. Theres also an infinite mode- we like that its a little bit different than any of the regular puzzles. We also love that there are NO in app purchases and NO ADS. Im so tired of having ads interrupt the flow of a game. And there are no timers! We hate timers! We have only one complaint. We play on an iPad Mini and we wish the Infinite Puzzle filled out a little more of the screen. Thats one of the reasons we play on the Mini- larger puzzles are easier on the eyes. The regular and daily puzzles are large enough, its just the Infinite that could be a little bigger. It looks fine on an iPhone, we dont know about a regular iPad.

A little help or a hint would be nice but we guess its like the rubric cube. Just keep at it.

Not satisfying at all. No strategy, just random guessing until you get it right. Deleted soon after purchase.

It performs well and its more of less fun to play.

We cant really figure out a good strategy for solving the puzzles. We do ultimately end up solving them, but only after resorting to trial and error, which isnt particularly satisfying. That said, its better than a lot of the puzzle games out there. It will tide us over until another monument valley or Euclidean lands comes out.

Great fun, no timer and challenging.

Fun and entertaining! Our new favorite puzzle game!

So many puzzles to keep you going, simple easy gameplay, fun endless mode, SATISFYING clicking sounds. Couldnt ask for more.

Slick, simple game mechanic, seems easy for a few levels, then gets challenging soon enough, yet always with the feeling that the solution is just around the corner. One more try….

Creative way to force multi dimensional thinking. Our gifted son loves it. He is almost as good a us! :)

We enjoy this puzzle so much! We love the visual challenge!

Great game mode, new daily puzzles every day, and they just added new tile types and 48 new levels out of the blue? Awesome.

A fun way to pass some time. Engaging, sometimes difficult, sometimes surprisingly easy. Sometimes we just had to go back and redo a puzzle to see if our solution was luck or if we really had figured it out. One of our favorites. The game play, graphics, and sounds are also well done!

The difficulty of some of the levels is mitigated by the enjoyable interface and minimalist soundtrack. A keeper!

We played it a bit but it’s not something we could get into. There’s not really a clear path to completion every time so it just feels like a lot of tedious permutations of moves to beat the harder levels.

Such a creative colorful and then challenging game. We were so sad to get to the end Ian, please make Dissembler Two! Loved every puzzle!!

The title says it all. Dissembler is a puzzler built on a simple premise, but the levels will challenge you quite a bit at times. There’s a nice feeling of satisfaction when you figure that last move that sends the board cascading towards completion, and an even nicer glimmer of accomplishment when the board washes away into the next challenge. This is a lovely puzzler worth every cent. Top-notch developing here. If we could beg the developer for two things: an option to have haptic feedback for the "click" when the player chooses to turn off sound effects would be a god-send (or just have an extra option to turn haptic feedback on/off regardless of the sound options). The default "click" sound is atrocious and absolutely grating to listen to. Also a challenge mode with a limited number of "clicks", and then the board resets completely if not completed with N moves. Still, a five star game no matter what.

How is this game so satisfying? We thought we fell out of the puzzle genre because all the puzzles we were playing were either frustrating or boring. Frustrating because of limited moves, boring because the game mechanics became boring. This game is neither. Its also a solid game with the three essential modes: handcrafted levels (120 of them!), daily mode, and endless. So if you are like us and enjoy the core gameplay, it will keep you going for a long time. We wish there was another mode in which the puzzles are randomly generated. Technically thats already in daily, but Im limited to six a day in daily mode. Thats not enough to deter from the game. One of the best parts is that the music is ambient, so it doesnt grate on our nerves.

This was recommended on a podcast and Im finding a nice distraction.

So it our look really simple to solve each puzzle. Youll soon find out that its more complex than you thought. Graphics are simple. Interface is perfect. Hours upon hours of entertainment and frustration await you!

Strong and challenging puzzles and plenty of content for 3$ we are always happy to pay to support well thought out and well designed games. Id rather support that model than the free to play, content locking, micro transaction money making machines of other developers.

We love quick games that you can play each level in a few minutes… And this game does that perfectly.

This is challenging and fun if you like puzzles. Come play it for yourselves.

We are giving it 3 stars because….. We love playing this game but we are stuck on a puzzle for days now, we have tried every angle to solved it but it eludes us. Can you please give a solution at least add a help button so that when a person get stuck they can get help in solving the puzzle please….. Edit: we are giving it 4 stars…. Thank you for your response we will keep at it, love this game? Edit 3/20/2018: we are now giving it 5 stars… If you stick it out there is a solution, stuck for days, went on to playing other games finally came back to the one we were stuck on it click and we unsolved it…. Love this game….

Good game but we beat it in two days… Needs a looooooot more work and levels!

We are enjoying this game but we love to play puzzle games before bed and the white background of this is simply too bright to be able to enjoy playing in the dark.

This is a really great puzzler. In one of the other reviews someone said that it was satisfying and that was a great way to put it. The puzzles aren’t to easy but they are not to hard. But they are very interesting and addictive.

Have no fear if youre colorblind. This game supports colorblind mode so you can enjoy it just like everybody else!

Absolutely love this game! It seems like a no-brainer on the first few levels, but as you dive in, youll start to wonder where the simple went as well as your hours.

Great game. If at first you dont succeed keep trying. You surprise yourself. Love it.

Dissembler is fun and inventive and challenging. No hints but there are so many playing options you never run out of things to do even when you are temporarily stuck on a level. No ads is a huge bonus! Dissembler is great at training us through the levels and how to do the new challenges as we advance. We look forward to see what Ian MacLarty creates next (although this game will keep us going possibly forever).

After finishing both Blendoku 1 & 2, KAMI 1 & 2, and others, we’ve found a new love.

Highly polished, stylish, relaxing yet challenging. Very good at being a video game.

Other games out there at the same $2.99 price point give a lot more variety and entertainment. There arent even any hint options, so if you get stuck on a level, youre screwed.
