It’s rated 17+ and currently has 1,112+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Dope Wars (Weed Edition) Stand Out
The good news – you have $2,000 in cash, and licenses to legally trade. The bad? You owe $5,500 to Dishonest Harry, a not-too-friendly loan shark, interest is piling up, he'll be visiting you soon for his money, and he owns a chainsaw! Just sayin'. You only have one choice – dive into the world of wholesale trading of weed to make money fast and save your skin!
As you travel from location to location, a day passes and local prices change. Buy low, sell higher! But beware – Officer Hardass is looking out for you, so get prepared for a stand-off with the cops by visiting the Dope Wars Store to tool up for the inevitable confrontation! You can also buy more storage space along the way at the Store, so look out for sales and special offers.
Along the way, special market events will cause prices to rise or fall spectacularly, so be ready for these, this is how you get rich! There are muggers out there, so try to keep unused cash in the bank, earning interest. Other loan sharks can lend you money to solve short-term liquidity crunches, but they'll be after their money soon enough! If you get injured, pop in to see the local doctor at his surgery, but look out – he has no scruples, and you have kidneys. A bad combination.
Listen out for the crazy old lady, too. She sure has some wacky things to say, but occasionally, she'll give you a very handy tip off, which is essential to your financial success in Dope Wars. Also, keep an eye out (and cash on hand) for the chance to buy a larger coat. More space, more profit! Good luck my friend, you're sure going to need it!!
This is the full paid version. This version is ad-free, allows 15, 60, 90, 120 and 365 day game lengths for turn-based games and 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes for timed games, shows arrows indicating direction of daily price changes, and adds the powerful RCL 9000 weapon. There is also the ad-supported free-version available, with ads and the 30 day and 2minute game length options.
This version of Dope Wars is ported directly from the wildly popular version of the PC game, also from Beermat Software. Same great addictive game play, modified for your mobile device!

Community Insight:
This game has turned into a cult classic for us. Ive got proof from original game registrations in 2002 from when we first bought a copy. We play it nightly before going to sleep and during bathroom pits stops. We do wish they would bring back the original drug names like peyote and other names.
Ive had this game for years. The developer has made some excellent updates through the years. Great throwback to the original and enjoyable.
Its not so much a bad game. In ways its much richer than the og game. Thematically tho, Im a little baffled. In some ways it seems like its trying to appeal to a younger audience what with the jokey weapons, but then youre randomly looting a corpse on a subway. Its WILDLY inconsistent that way. Also, it really messed us up going from N to N+ and the value of the strains flipped but they were still on the bottom and idek, it made our brain itch. Anyway, good build of a familiar game. Im just not entirely sure who this is for.
There was this version of Dopewars with clans and schools/classes. You should get that source-code and turn it into an app!!!!!!! That would be great. This Dopewars is great the full feel of the original. It also has seeds, which let you replay the same scenario over and over till you get it correct !!!!!!!!!!!!!! We really cant say anything negative about this game. And that is UNICORN LEVEL in game terms!!!! All other games have some MAJOR issues. This one doesnt, if more people played there would be more scores, but that aside you can be at the top of any tier, you just need to find the right seed!!!! Really great game.
The fact that you can actually change the items that you sell and you can input your own text as to what the game will pop up as for the explanation why the prices dip or hike, really improves this game. We enjoy all of the open ended options you left the end user with.
Lots of careful work done to make it great.
Theres a lot of new upgrades that were needed to sustain the legacy of this iconic game.
We love this game. Its exactly what we were looking for. The classic game we used to play when we were a teenager in the 90s.
Must downloada true, classic with a lot of upgrades.
Awesome game. Classic. Recent update gives big improvements. Only criticism is the game mutes background music and sounds outside of the games.
We guess they recently did an up date that ruined it Ive had the app a few years and it was awesome, just like the old pc game after you rename everything. Anyway opened it today got a message about the update and everything different, everything went back to the goofy names they choose the user interface is all screwed up now. We did try to give it a chance but by day 4 we couldnt stand it so its now deleted. When you fix whats not broken youll probably break!!! Im pretty sure our old review was 5 star, but this app is garbage now thank you.
They completely overhauled the game. Erased two years worth of score history. The new interface is overwhelming and slow imo. Geez.
We played on PC for years and now on iPhone it has more customization. Just fun all around. We just played 4.5 hours straight.
This game is still as fun as the pc game.
NGL, first in app purchase we ever made that we didnt think twice. The price could have been 10 bucks, Id still pay for it, no questions asked. This has a lot of memory tied to it, the UI evolved but the sounds are there and we love this game. 5 solid stars, easy.
A bit different from the old game. Cops chase you a lot more but Im still getting use to the ins and outs. Its fun.
We used to play a lot of this game. An excellent time passer that we can jump into at any moment. So simple yet so entertaining.
We've been playing this game in various forms for about 20 years. Still great fun! A couple of inputs for the developers: – would be great if this would rotate into landscape view for use on our iPad – would like to have the option to see the running average price in each of the commodities – a huge spike in sale price for a single commodity often ruins the graph for the rest of the game…suggest adding the option to exclude selected data points from the graph so that a 1-time boom does not make the price history unusable – suggest adding option to make the cops ignore you for the first 10 rounds.
This is the definitive remake of the classic Beermat version. A near perfect port with some quality of life improvements. Not only is it a keepsake for the preservation of a timeless original, but it is an invaluable learning vehicle for commodities trading and risk management (not to mention ridiculous fun). Do yourself a favor and pick it up. The support/dev is super friendly and puts a lot of thought into the project.
Just like the old game we played back in the day. Everythings there, right down to your mom randomly making brownies with your supply. Also, thank you for actually porting this to iOS and not using one of those unreasonably huge/resource-devouring runtimes.
We have loved this game from the start way back in the day. ( well that dated us lol) we loved it then and still do now.
This game is great. We would suggest you buy it.
Ive been playing this game for years wow.
We thought this game was great. Its fun addictive and a great way to kill time.
We have loved this game for years and now on our iPhone.
This brings back the good old days when we used to play this on the Texas instruments calculator during exams LOL. Does anyone remember that.
We got this game because we used to play the old one on our computer when we were a kid. We like it its a great game.
This is almost like the original dos game but updated. They should change the name to WEED WARS. Its all about WEED now when the original was about drugs like meth, acid, mdma, cocaine etc. Bring that version back. Its still a good game, but seriously bring back the original version with drugs.
We used to play Drug Wars when we were younger and this is the next best thing to it! Im totally addicted. No conplaints.
We are going to make this short and sweet. We have been playing this since the Palm Pilot 5 days. It was fun then with no problems, it is fun now. We love the idea of being able to change up the cities and states, now we have our hometown and a few other favorite cities in the mix, which makes it even better. Thanks.
We had a flashback to playing drug wars on our TI-85, and this game adds to the original without taking anything away.
Nostalgia Nostalgia Nostaliga. We recently found our old hard copy of DopeWars and wished we had a way to play it. Now we do! Thank you.
Great game, just like we remember from our childhood. Also, the app seems to be pretty well developed, we havent come across any glitches.
We had just as much fun playing it now as we did playing it 20 years ago. Great game and well worth the $1 for the extended version.
Fun game, haven't played it since it was on palm pilot over 20 years ago! Love the new features.
Finding this game brought back a lot of memories playing on a PC. We played it before when it had actual weapons instead of bananas and stuff like that. Fun game glad to have found it.
We used to play this game ages ago in PC. Back then it was a bit rough, but it was really fun. Now, the game is just a polished drug simulator that will net you millions in a day, just to kill you from infection the very next day. Chasing cops away with a water pistol never felt good before, but it sure does now. The only downside to the game is the RNG. Sometimes the prices will dip and you wont be able to make a profit, or you will get in an fight you cant win early. That doesnt take away from the fun though. This game is priced well below its fun factor. Its addictive, funny, and most importantly: Fun to play.
Love this game for like 10 years but the stuff you buy is different names then the old game please turn them back to the old names we have no idea what Im buying please.
It's a great game to play between classes at school.
Update: well since we can edit the names now, its back to the old game! Thanks guys! Back to 5 stars we love the game. We just loved the fact that before, there was more than just weed. All these odd names are hard to get used to, but we still enjoy being able to play it on mobile.
Love the game, but it keeps glitching with the prices.
We really wish they would bring the crack house addition to iPhone…..the games fun but limited on things you can do it loses your attention after a wile.
We like the game but we wish somethings was different. We wish there was real guns and more than 365 days.
One such glitch, you cannot deposit money in a set amount, its all or nothing. In all, its a fun game. You can set up your home town as a city.
We downloaded this game because we wanted to have something really similar to the old school pc version. We really want to sell some cocaine or heroin like the good old days but this game is fun.
Nice game you can play with one hand-doesnt drain your battery-Better than the old drug war game by far- Improvements that we would like: Loan Sharks Allow Progress Payments (Min Payment Required Prior to Eliminating Us Old Lady Comments Should Be Shown In Log Book in the event we forget. It shows part of her comment but not the item name Bribes should be more when dealing with more money rather than maxed at 100K Rather than just police, why not rival gangs, FBI, etc Extreme Difficulty Level should be more difficult.
Only reason we didnt give 5 stars is it would be nice to be able to change the weapons <name>, like the weed and city <name>. Would like the option to use a chainsaw or a rubber dildo or even an MLRS rocket truck.
Fun to play. You can pause the game and continue later. It is well worth a dollar.
This is a five star game that has one and a half star visuals, unfortunately. Ive been playing variants of this game for years, and this is one of the few that we feel is actually worth paying for. Its simple, no frills, and works without bugs or issues. The best part is the amount of control and customization that the devs have added recently; you can change the individual drug names and cities, silence the old lady, change the drug units to grams or ounces, and even have the game prompt you to restart if you dont meet a certain cash goal by a certain day. You can even look at charts of the drug prices on previous days in order to more accurately predict jumps in price. This kind of control will keep us playing the game for a long time, and we love seeing new stuff like this added. Our one issue with the game though is how awful it looks, and not in a nostalgic way. Before we go further, understand we dont want this to be some ridiculous 3D or award-winning graphical masterpiece. This is Dope Wars, and it should be simple. But the current visuals look really bad, despite having iPhone X support. The entire UI looks like it was made in Microsoft Paint, and it feels cheap and ugly. The whole thing needs a massive UI and graphics overhaul, and the sound effects really, really need some work. The character illustrations dont match the black color scheme of the game, and look really old and a bit too cartoony, in our opinion. They look like repurposed vectors that were originally in the desktop version. Either redraw the characters to match the UI, or update the UI to a more cartoony look. We feel like they should also add a few more illustrations for variety, or at least to break up the monotony. They have a great and simple foundation for the game, so now they need to polish it up. Another nitpick: we love the store and the ability to buy weapons and the dialysis machine. However, give us some more options, specifically real weapons (or let us change the names like the drugs). We get that its probably hard to make a game about drugs and guns in this day and age, but it just feels strange and out of place to buy a monkey and bananas as a weapon in a game where you are buying and selling marijuana. We love the creativity and the ideas, but we love the control over the game more. Let us change the weapon names. Keep up the good work, devs. We hope you read this and know its coming from a good place and a lover of the game and its progression over the years. Give us a UI update and this game could be the one game we actually keep on our phone.
They used to label these themself now we have to change them And unfortunately whatever label they are they never change from Their range of value or depreciations So youll have to change them all insivually and its hard to keep it as a surprise because you know what youre labeling and how they will rise and fall- it quickly becomes predictable but for $1 Im okay with it – they def could use an improvement in the unpredictability of the rise and fall of each drug(s).
