App seems to not actually work. We try to start a game and nothing happens after we submit a request. No indication that we have ever even sent a request or anything. UPDATE: For some reason, the app begins to work now. The interface is not intuitive.

We remember using this app in the past and receiving notifications when we had moves. Unfortunately it seems like that no longer works. We were hoping to contact the dev to talk about it, but found no way to contact the dev on the new website for the app. Hopefully theyll see this and reach out to us! Id love to help with development on the app, we are not sure if its open source anymore.

Im using Iphone8. We dont know if this is a bug. We saw there was a chat symbol, we pressed the button, we typed hello, then we found there was no done or submit button to send it out!

Hasnt been updated in five years so who knows how insecure it might be to even have it on your phone. Doesnt support notifications, so you have to constantly open it to see if opponents have made a move yet. This app desperately needs an update.

The join a game function did not seem to work at all, as no games were shown. There is also no way of knowing that your game request has been seen or accepted; just does not seem to be very user-friendly on first impressions.

Shows us nothing when we attempt to look for a game. Needs to be fixed. Very unsatisfactory.

Takes forever to play a game. No way to judge the other player or exit a game if the other player is unresponsive.

Thanks for giving us an amazing dgs client!

This app works great, very nicely executed. It makes for more frequent moves due to the "on-hand-ness" of the mobile device. We would like only one added feature, that of a selectable tone for notification. A small concern, to be sure. Five stars, of course.

This app and dragon go service is excellent. We really enjoy long term plays with this. There is enough time to think a next move.

This app is great, much easier than the web interface. It’s limited to playing or joining games, but notifies you when you have a game waiting, which is really convenient.

A friend has sent us a ton of requests that we haven’t received. We also don’t see an interface to find them. That seems like a basic in-app capability that should be included.

Great app. So much easier than zooming and scrolling in Safari.

The app has finally been updated to fit the iPhone 5 screen! As well as the ability to view games and scroll through moves when it is not your turn! Also push notifications to let you know when your turn is up have been added.

The latest update was completely unexpected, and addresses many of the obvious limitations of the previous version. This is an incredibly simple and pleasant app. Must have for anyone who plays on DGS, worth buying an iPhone for!

Very useful, when you wait somebody for meeting.

Great app to play and join games on the DGS server.

This is the ideal accompaniment to Dragon, which is almost impossible to navigate with a mobile browser. And a model app in general – simple, elegant and useful. Thank you, thank you!!

We love go and this is a really good pick so far. But like the other reviewer said you can’t see the board when it’s not your turn. And notifications when it’s your turn would be an awesome addition.

The way this works is this app logs you into a server on the web. You create a game and tell your friend to go look for it. It’s not hard to find the game. One downside is you can’t look at the game while its not your turn on the app. However, it’s a cool app because you can log on to the website on your PC and see the game, play the game and manage your account. The app is very lite. The app basically consists of make a game, look for a game, and play the game. No AI, no puzzles. Another downside I’d like to see fixed is it does not alert you when it’s your turn. We have to constantly monitor the app to see if its our turn to play. But this is the only app we’ve found that let’s you play Go over the iPhone with friends around the world. It’s worth the time to fool with it and play.

How can this have no notifications when you have a turn is beyond us. Wasted days….

This attractive third party app is even better than the official DGS website, and our favorite way to play Go on the iPhone. Now that you can join games, it’s almost perfect. All it’s missing are push notifications.

As others have pointed out, this is a nice simple app that’s really good for playing Go non-realtime. The three improvements I’d like to see are push notifications (major shortfall!), the ability to see games in progress even when it’s not our turn, and the ability to zoom in at any time (not just when we are ready to make a move). Despite all of that, nice app!

I’d love to see notifications; viewing all running games, not just ones where it’s our turn; and looking at user info and rank graphs. A good first step for the last one would be just to imbed a safari view and point directly at dgs to view that info.

This is missing two essential features: notification of moves when app is not active, and the ability to open/study games when it isn’t your move.

Terrible. Can’t join or start games.

It’s a great client. We trust that it will become even more perfect in the time to come. Also, no one else has mentioned support for other board sizes which would be nice.

Thanks for writing this! Could it have Badges?

We love it, we m ready to contribute to have push notification It improve it.

A great way to play Go against human opponents on your iPod or iPhone, spending as much or as little time as you wish. A simple and elegant Dragon Go Server client. The server helps match you with opponents of appropriate level and maintains your rank and handicap for each game.

Keep up the good work! Just needs push notifications, and I’d actually like to see the board when its not our turn.

All in all it’s a really good app, but we do wish there was push notifications so we know when our opponent has moves, and I’d like to be able to see the board when it’s not our turn. But like we said already it’s a good app and worth downloading.

Pure junk, nothing works. Don’t waste your time on this nonfunctioning app.

Much better and faster than using the website. We’re fine using the website for setting up new games, but automatically going to the next game after submitting would be nice. We use this on our ipad, but it’d be great to have it ported to make useof the larger screen. I’d happily pay a few bucks for it.

We love the simplicity of this app. The only thing missing for us is a way to chat with others or at least read their messages. Once that is added we’ll be able to use this instead of the website.

Great app. Mossing features is Chat, push notifications and If posible it would be great with live updated gameplay if you sant to play fast for a while.

This is a great little DGS client, definitely filling a gap in the app store. Looking forward to more functionality, like chat, view/invite from our contact list, push notification, etc. It should also list games where it’s our opponents turn so we can continue to review the board.

What it does, it does to perfection! I’d give it five stars if it had the ability to see/accept games from the waiting room, and the ability to see running games.

We’re very excited that someone has finally created a DGS client!!! We had a few problems connecting at first. But, now we’re up and running. What a gift to the mobile DGS community. Looking forward to support of all the DGS features. Keep up the good work.

We’re giving this 4 stars because we trust that the developer will continue working on it (right now 3 is more appropriate). Mainly we just want to be able to see all of our running games and we want to be able to see and join games in the waiting room, with those two additions we will be satisfied (other commenters also requested chat and it may be nice to have but honestly we don’t really miss it’s absence.)
