Community Insight:
Sometimes, when a game is really good we get sucked in for hours we just played the entire demo for 5 hours straight. Thats saying a lot since we are a mother of 3 little ones lol. Its fun, unfortunately we cannot afford the entire game at this time otherwise we would purchase but not at this time. We would def. Recommend everyone to play the demo for sure.
Im 28, and at this stage of our life we often find it difficult to come across a game that truly captivates us and feels worthy of our limited free time, especially while working 40+ hours a week. Yet every time we come home, we find ourselves starting up Dredge and sinking (pun intended) at least an hour or two into it. During that time, we completely disconnect from everything else going on in our life and immerse ourselves fully in the game. We really want to thank the team for putting so much love and passion into Dredge its something we feel deeply while playing, and its a quality we find missing in many modern games.
We want more! Any expansion packs or part 2.
This game is everything people like in a game. We like this game because it gets more intense the farther you go. It may seem like an innocent fishing game but as you get deeper the more exciting it becomes. The only bad part of this game is that this game is pay to win and it costs 24 bucks very pricey but that is the only bad part. But if you are lucky you can get it on sale for twelve dollars on holidays and events. All in all a great game and it deserves the reward it got for interactions.
Even though we only played the free game it was good Im probably going to get it on our pc. The controls are surprisingly good and the gameplay loop can get boring sometimes but despite that its still fun to fish over and over. Its a good game that we say everyone should try.
Great story line, mechanics and mystery.
We just bought the game and will update this review when we finish it for real. We play a lot of old ports on our phone that we never really got around to when they were big releases. So far, this one is for sure going in our top 10. Gonna be hard to beat GTA San Andreas, Final Fantasy IX, Chaos Rings III, Stardew Valley or Oceanhorn. But Id love to see the full version surprise us and bust into our top 5. What a beautiful, eerie start to a new adventure its been. Thanks so much to the devs for making this port.
The game is very chill, we like the sound effects, maybe you could change the way you catch the fish? Idk, but our mouse on our macbook doesnt show up when we play, so its hard to know where im clicking. It might be a bug we would love for you to fix.
We waited so long for it to take the surprise that you have to pay 25 dollars to play it completely and we can't even work yet.
The level of depth to the story, quality to the artistry, and fun in the gameplay is remarkable. This is one of the few gems on the App Store.
Lovely game, even if the controls are quite awkward and clunky. Absolutely not worth $24.99 for the full version. Reel reality back in please, this is a fishing and collectables game, not stardew valley (which doesnt even charge THAT much). We might look for this on steam, but we will abandon it if it is the same obnoxious price. Games arent subject to tariffs, so Im not sure what the justification of charging half a Skyrim is. Feeling inspired by Nintendo? Dont. Theyre next.
The font is way too small. You cant expect people to be happy with 5pt on a phone screen. Cmon.
This is a game we think everyone can live us our dad and our sister that has never shown interest in games love this game so to these devs thank you for the game.
Now, us personally, we love fishing games, and this is the GOLDEN STANDARD of fishing games. The even combination of horror and fishing makes for a very boredom-relieving game.
Such a fun game, awesome story, great fishing mechanic, and nice spooky vibes.
Not much to say other than the game is awesome, has great graphics, has a great plot, and has good gameplay. It is truly a bummer it is only a demo.
We love dredge. Its an overall great game either way compelling story elements and great mechanics! One problem we have with it is that the paywall to get to the full game costs way to much. We believe that any in-app-purchase should be five dollars or below. We have heard that the $25.00 purchase is worth it, but we still think its too expensive. Other than that, we love the game and we encourage whoever is, or will read this review to play it, or at least give it a try, youll love it.
We really like the game but they cut it off after you grab one of the first big items from dredging. Dont get invested unless you plan to buy the game.
To complete some functions in the game, like moving inventory, you need to center click. Im on a MacBook Air and we dont think Im able to center click without a 3rd party app. Other than this the game is great, but as it stands we need to buy a mouse or controller to play this game unfortunately. Will give 5 stars if this is corrected. Yes this is a demo and the full version is paid but Im ok with that. We like that because we love being able to try before we buy.
Seems pretty fun but Im not dropping $25 on it. Was just about to buy it but we guess the sales over.
We love the mechanics of the boat, and the atmosphere. However, the fishing mechanic is boring, the mechanic of trying to fit things on the boat is also tedious, the puzzles are very straightforward or if not straightforward, not interesting to solve. The story seems like its going to be interesting, but the conclusion has several holes. Several very uninteresting side plots and stories – why should we care about them? We just wanted to get to the end of the game, but we felt like we were being dragged on and on. And as for the horror element, its pretty easy to avoid the horror. Which we dont mind necessarily but we think the predictability makes it boring. 2 stars because we dont appreciate the amount of time we spent on meaningless side quests in the game.
Fun but 25 dollars for a mobile game is wild.
Because who would buy a fishing game and its not even fun.
It is a bit too easy and too short for the price. They should add an extended journey outside the relic return.
Wasnt sure at first where the game was leading us, but we have been glued to it for hours. A lot of fun.
This is a comprehensive review, with many major spoilers (we will warn when they appear). 49/50 As someone who 100% completed this game and ALL DLCs, we can proudly say that this is our favorite game of the decade. Incredible storytelling, entrancing gameplay, and masterfully crafted encounters skyrocketed this game into the spotlight. Gameplay: Tense chases, addictive mini games, perfect inventory management, this game has it all. After finishing the main storyline, the awesome aberrations were so much fun to catch. The exotic fish made an adventure to fill out the encyclopedia, and the ship upgrades were loads of fun to max out. Getting all 60 achievements was a lot of fun too. 10 points. Music and Sound Design: The music and sound design were the first things that really blew our mind when we first started playing. We felt completely at peace when we needed to, and in fear when the time came. Fantastic work with the sound effects of picking up and placing items in the inventory, fishing, boats moving, birds and creatures, time passing, etc. 10 points. Mood: The mood of this game shocked us. Ive always had a love for cosmic horror and fishing games, and when we heard that this game existed, we immediately was intrigued. We were not disappointed. Incredible cutscenes, terrifying encounters on the open ocean, and an AMAZING twist at the end really tied the whole story together. 10 points. Visuals: The mixture of chromatic aberrations, stylistic art style, vibrant colors, and fully fleshed-out environments played with our emotions in no way a game has before. It is still shocking to us that this game is an indie one. Love the creativity. 10 points. (MAJOR SPOILERS) Plot: The storyline is fantastic, too. The bad ending always shook us to our core; (SPOILERS) the giant monster in the background with the eerie music box music playing gave us goosebumps. (MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS) The twist that the Collector was actually the main character, and the Book being in the FIRST CUTSCENE absolutely BLEW our mind. If we could give eleven points, we would. 10 points. Now, time for the one and only issue. The points so far add to 50, but the score we put down at the very beginning was 49. Because we cant carry around our MacBook everywhere, we tried out the mobile version. And even when signing in on the same account, our purchase of the full game didnt show up on our phone. Some parts of this game we couldnt wait to get home for, so it was a disappointment that we had to. -1 point. Overall, a life-changing experience. Sets a new bar for indie games across the world. We can not emphasize enough how glad we are that we made this purchase. Side note: DLCs are amazing! Add to the story in a way that doesnt remove from the original game. Absolutely buy.
Edit: ignore, purchased on iOS. Thank you for the recent discount window. Save the remaining funds for future DLC. Great game, but cant decide on what platform to purchase it on. Current Steam sale at half off, or now at full price? We were very late for the early adopter sale. We miss our Toucharcade website for notices like this one. We didnt even know about this being on iOS until last week! Great game either way. Worth $25 given iOS is so behind on quality games like this one. Steam is spoiling us now we guess.
This feels like a ps5 game it is wonderful. It scares us, depresses us, and inspires us at the same time. We.
Love how games like these are coming to iOS. Certain buttons however we wish could be bigger like the reel in button when catching fish and exit from fishing button.
Best game so far 100% recommendations.
This game is so much fun in every aspect. The fishing mechanics are satisfying and the process of fishing, transporting and selling your fish/crab is a joyful challenge. The story is rich and intriguing with a sense of foreboding tension that keeps you on edge as you continue to progress. We only wish there was more end game content once the quests were finished. Hoping for more expansions.
Its an Amazing game, a little lag, but still amazing. Never seen an art style like it would be an amazing addition to Apple Arcade with DREDGE+.
Im a player from chinathis is a pretty good gameand we will buy it although its not very chipthe atmosphere and the image are perfect and recomend to people are hesitating just try it.
Game is awesome but when will we see DLCs.
The game is amazing but if you have a PC then definitely buy it there, its the same price, but Id recommend playing the free portion on mobile first to see if you like it.
We love this game so far, just wondering how we can get any dlcs on our MacBook?? Thank you.
We were loving this game. We would normally never pay 1299 for an app on our phone but thought this was worth it and its so short. Is there gonna be any updates for this game or was that it? Also we read DLC expansions are available- is that now or in the future.
Its a semi fun game..easy to playbut for $24 to buy the full versionthats waaaaay steep for this product.
Ill start off saying we do like this game. You sail around collecting fish and junk to sell and upgrade your boat/equipment to venture further out to obtain more expensive things and see the dark beautiful mysteries afar. Id be willing to give it 5 stars if it didnt cost $25 for the full game. $10 seems reasonable at most. We do wish you could leave your boat and walk around exploring because it does get mundane sailing the whole time when this is a game that peeks your desire to explore. Great audio, smooth controls, but limited interactions, and overpriced.
Had a lot of fun playing the free trial but there is no way Im paying $25 for a mobile game. That is the most egregious price Ive ever seen. Especially when games like Minecraft and Inside which had full console releases cost half the price of this game. Lower the price and Id buy the full version. Otherwise at that price its almost insulting.
Played the trial and its cool, but not worth the $25. We would pay $10-15.
Even after a 50% dis, so expensive , 8-9 us is better.
It crashes every time we try to start.
This game would probably be the best game Ive ever played on an iOS device, but Im finding it extremely difficult to understand. It is not overly intuitive. We know what Im supposed to do, but cannot figure out how to do it. Way too confusing. The best designed game in the world is useless if players cant understand how to play it.
Everytime we switch out gear, because at this time we can only use two different poles to dredge, the only thing available to dredge is with the pole we just placed in storage. It does this over and over again. Wasting our time here.
Easy to play, works well on mac. Great soundtrack, can be played without hassle.
The only thing wrong with this game is that we play it at length, at every opportunity, bringing its inevitable end closer every hour. Thankfully, the expansions put that sad day a little further into the future. This is somehow perfect. A vaguely Lovecraftian fishing game with weird fetch quests. The core mission has a nice ramp-up in difficulty, guiding you from "pursuit" to pursuit, until you're out there trawling for coelocanths and dodging firespouts. The controls are fine – we always find touch D-pads a little odd – the graphics are cute, and while the audio is nice, you don't need it at all.
Has surprisingly similar draw to Fallout 1. Innovative, atmospheric, dont know what to expect but every corner is as interesting as the last.
This is a very thrilling, engaging, and exciting game. Getting to travel the sea, solve mysteries, and catch unique fish.
