Wonderful app for memorizing fretboard.
Ive used almost every method in the book to break through the mental block of learning the notes on the fretboard. This is definitely one of the best Ive found so far. Its super accurate when identifying what note youre playingand on your REAL guitar. So much better than trying to memorize the fretboard from a book or diagram. The instant feedback and stats are immensely helpful and motivating. We find ourselves trying for that perfect score to beat our best all the time. This app does a great job at gamifying learning the fretboard. Highly recommend trying it out.
We have been playing guitar for three years but have always had difficulty memorizing the notes on the fretboard. This is the best app, and the best method, that Ive ever come across to learn the fretboard. It is extremely well made, fun to play and very effective. We highly recommend it and wish that we could thank the apps creator personally.
Guitar Blast is the best way to memorize the fretboard. However, the utility of the app is less than optimal because: In testing the playback of notes within any given level, some notes are not recognized when played. Within any given level, when a note is played that has more than one position on the part of the fretboard being tested, the playback of a note in one position often triggers the disappearance of both notes, as if each note had been correctly played back separately. Any given level may abruptly close before it is completed with no registration of results before the next level is presented for testing. There is a lack of effective monitoring, correcting, and updating the app. A set of instructions on how to use the app would be very helpful.
We were initially excited to see that app because it supposedly utilized digital processing to analyze the sounds coming from your acutal guitar instead of relying on clicking images on the screen. The first exercise worked OK, but for every subsequent execise, it stared blankly back at us and didn't respond to our notes. Yes, our guitar is in perfect tune, using both our own strobe tuner, as well as the tuner built-in into the app. Yes, we are using ample volume for the Macbook microphone to pick up the sound. Yes, we're using clean tones without any effects that could alter pitch. Yes, we have a top-notch M2 Macbook Pro with the latest release of MacOS. So no, it's not "our setup" – this app simply DOES NOT WORK. Looks like we can kiss 4 bucks goodbye.

Good way to really learn the notes on the fretboard.
This is the best and most complete guitar fretboard app that we have found. Very worth the small price to getting better at guitar and finding the notes on the fretboard. Highly recommend.
Awesome for learning the fretboard, but the app crashes a lot. Also has some other odd quirks, such as will go from no sharps or flats to including these by simply restarting a session. Odd – but still a great app.
Only a short way in but like the way it advances you. The special one time paysment was a bonus also.

We appreciate this app, it makes learning the notes on the guitar fun and its cool that it has 2 modes 1.) were you can finger tap the notes on screen and 2.) were you play your guitar to match the note on screen. It would be cool if this app had more games to learn the notes kinda like how rocksmith had its arcade mode.

Thank You very much for your app. We wont lie, we have been searching and waiting for a kind soul to make this app for a long time. You were spotted on in every single training exercise. Pretty sure you were struggled with yourself and build that app. The app the way it is right now its awesome. We have been using the app like a maniac for the last two days. There are a few things that would be great to improve but this will be another email, right now Im more than happy with it. We took the offer of lifetime access but Im still having the ad buy PRO showing up. Probably it just a glitch. Once again, thank You so much for your app.

Cool gamified interface. Makes learning the fretboard far more interesting than most other apps we've tried. And we've tried many. There is a "pay once" option you'll see once you play the demo, so no subscription if you don't want it. Haven't tried using the microphone-guitar section, only the tap on the screen.
Makes learning the fret board more engaging and fun than doing it other ways.
This seems to be the best way to learn the fretboard notes for us. Ive tried several other ways. But the process was just too boring. And when you are bored, you cant retain what you are exposed to. This app listens to the notes played and is very accurate in determining what note is being picked on what string. And if you do not have a guitar with you, you can just tap the notes on the virtual keyboard. This also improves fretting hand accuracy as well as string picking accuracy. There are many levels. Most of which we have not yet earned. There is nice feedback to encourage you to keep learning. EDIT: New feature added: rather than making touchscreen selections, you can now just make selections by hitting a string. Your fingers do not need to leave fretboard!! Awesome! This works! EDIT: Still enjoying Guitar Blast after 3 months of use. Great app!! App works perfectly in iOS 15.1 on iPhone and iPad. FrankPCiii.
Its actually better than the one on JamPlay.
What a great app. Provides immediate feedback. The app tells the player which note to tap on the screen or note to be played on an acoustic or electric guitar. No wired connection is required. The sounds returned by the app are pleasant. The graphics are very nice. There is a section to help train the player. And the player can compete with 100s of other players by their rank of high score. Definitely worth more the price of the app. Very nice!! With a little effort, you will memorize all the notes on the fretboard.
Great app to really learn the fretboard. Im using the learn by string mode first and am already showing improvement. Needs a tuner so we can adjust our tuning to match the algorithm when in guitar mode. Also it would be nice to be able to select a key then be tested on the intervals.

This is pretty cool, makes you Ltran the notes with out Boring you to death.
Once in awhile it will give us 100% when we know we missed a note. Other than that probably the best program Ive seen for learning the fretboard.

Ive been struggling to learn the notes on the fretboard coming from piano. This app has been a lot of fun and so far Im learning a lot.
Ive been trying to learn the fretboard on our own for a while and thought we were doing well, but this app has shown us that we need a lot more practice to have the confidence we want. The exercises are great tools for testing your knowledge and for helping build that confidence.
Fun way to learn fretboard. Satisfying to have a game to drive achievements.
After years of playing this is finally making us do it and having fun doing it.
We are learning a lot from this app and will definitely continue using. It works great when we use the screen to touch the notes, but Ive tried using the app with two different acoustic guitars and it takes hitting the notes 2-4 times before the app recognizes the note and moves onto the next one. Ive tried sustaining the note, playing it staccato, plucking with our finger or with a pick but its equally inconsistent. Im using a perfectly working iPhone 7 with the latest iOS and using the built-in mic about 8-12 from the guitar sound hole. Another issue is that the scale/size of the fretboard changes each time the app adds another fret to learn. Eg, when learning the first three frets, all you see are the open strings and the first three frets. When you are learning the 8-9th fret, you see open strings all the way up to 9th fret and so on. This is problematic for visual learners as suddenly the 3rd fret that was at the far right of the screen is suddenly on the left 3rd of the screen and we have to make a quick calculation to rescale the neck/screen in our mind as the levels move forward. The better option, in our opinion, would be to show the whole fretboard from the first lesson so that you are seeing where the note is in relationship to the whole fretboard at all times, giving a more accurate visual context for where the note lies on the guitar. On this one Im not positive, but at least on level 5, the very last quizzes or bonus rounds seem to be testing us on frets that havent been taught yet, which is a little confusing. All and all, this is a fun and effective way to learn the fretboard, but for us, is only really workable by pushing the notes on the screen and not by playing the guitar. Still a step up from just sitting down and learning it other ways, so Im grateful to the developers for creating this app. Worth the $6 or whatever it costs. Thanks.
We enjoy playing this game a few minutes a day and it is helping us learn the fretboard. We would get a lot more from this game if we could configure the round times and/or customize our own drills. We would also pay more for those features.
This is an app we would give 5 stars to for all the reasons that others have said. But as a lefty, we need a proper left handed mode to get the same experience as others in using the app. However, the neck does not change orientation and remains mirrored as right handed even in Left Handed mode, adding confusion that does not need to be there. Should the devs decide to put the work in to give leftys the same full experience as righties, we would be happy to change our review to five stars. But as a lefty, we feel left out from the full benefits because of our handedness.

Ive played this many many times and have gone from #2 to #3. Its strange, lately our points havent gone up even though we play and level up everyday, other than that its amazing.

Great idea poor implementation! This app is very buggy and will constantly falls out of the level your in. For just learning the fretboard there is way too much gimmicky stuff. Ive moved on, there are better apps for learning the fretboard.

There are a ton of different apps out there that approach learning the guitar fretboard in the same way. For us, theyre tedious and when it came time to playing in real time, it wasnt helpful since our recall is slower. This gamified version of guitar fretboard learning turns the pressure up to learn, while making it fun and engaging. We end up playing until we saturate, then come back the next day to continue earning stars and unlocking upgrades. Brilliantly well done. To the developer: Thank you for making this! Its a well conceived gamification system! Theres a small bug in the version Im on as we submit this review. Hitting replay on the 5x level after failing the level takes us back to main menu. This was working yesterday. Thanks.
We LOVE this app! It is seriously well designed and breaks learning into bite size pieces with its extensive series of levels. Unlike things Ive tried in the past, this app provides a fun and steadily progressive method for learning the fretboard. Plus, its the single thing that has made practicing more of a regular thing for us than Ive done in decades. We really like that you can play guitar with the app and it detects if you played the right note or not. Or if we dont have our guitar with us, we can still learn and get quizzed by tapping guitar strings on screen.
Finally a good app to practice the fretboard. Pros: Works with real guitar. Level based training. Guitar skins Cons: Cannot practice with different tunings.
We were a little nervous to purchase this app with so few reviews but it works great! It picked up the notes from our guitar with no problem. Our only suggestion for the developer would be to put the notes from the open strings directly over the nut instead of in the black space. That black space feels like the 1st fret even though there is a zero there.
