Ive been a fan of Kairosoft for years and this is a wonderful addition from them. We love this as much as we loved the hot springs story. We love the strategy, combos, mini games, and the aesthetic of the game. We cant even say how many hours Ive spent on this game over the last week! Highly recommend.
Been a long time consumer/enjoyer/player of kairosoft games and it's been awhile since we've really had fun playing a kairosoft game, we haven't felt this addicted to a game since pocket academy & hot spring story. It has multiple aspects to handle but never too overwhelming to do. If they ever make heian city story 2, we will gladly get it.
We love this game its so fun but we wish it would have marriage and kids in the game so the citizens can fall in love and get married and can have kids in the game.
As a rehabilitating former whale, we can tell you that our addiction of making the biggest most amazing set of a cities zoos or whatever it is is satisfied by kairosoft. Id rather buy all their games (individual separate applications not from this one application) spend 300 bucks grand total then spend 15k-20k on micro transaction heavy games.

The game has enough challenge in placement of buildings and city layout that it feels like more than just a typical idle game. And no micro transactions.
Never disappoints! Something different from their game Oh! Edo Towns. Love that this have ghosts and summon spirits.
This game has all of the good features of a kairosoft world builder with some nice twists and quality of life improvements.
Im giving it 5 stars for the algorithm but really we think its 4 stars. The combat is what hooked us in but the real reason we keep playing is the city building. Theres just so much happening all the time and the better you get at placing buildings and planning ahead the faster the chaos and fun ensues. Tbh the combat was the worst part about this game, it was a massive point sink and it was boring with decent payoff but it just ruined the rhythm of the game for us. We would have loved to see more done with the mounts. If the game had implemented a breeding system we think we wouldve had way more fun. Imagine each mount having different stat buffs for your villagers aside from just increasing movement tiles for them. Then instead of the weird tower defense combat system you could have a sort of brawl system similar to your boxing games or at the very least different tournament games that had to do with mounts. We do love kairosoft and this is probably the 10th game we purchased from them lol. This is one of the better games in the portfolio, we do highly recommend it even for new players.

We are a longtime Kairosoft fan and have been playing most of their games. This one in particular is wonderful and we enjoyed it throughly sinking around 6+ hours so far. The reused assets from previous games were pretty cool and it reminded us a lot of Ninja village (THE BEST KAIROSOFT GAME). Would definitely recommend if you enjoy Japanese history and culture as well as a fun city builder and tower defense game.
This is a good entry to introduce the Heian themes to international players! We really adore the pixel designs of the buildings and facilities. The tower defense mechanic is surprisingly really fun to play. We're still in the early levels, but we look forward to seeing more designs as the game goes on.
We always love kario soft they are a once in a lifetime mobile game experience we started when we were 16 we are now 22 it makes us emotional.. Lol THIS GAME IS ALL we WNATED FOR YEARS.
As a long time kairosoft fan, this is one of our favorites. We have no complaints. We loved it all the way through.
We really enjoyed the gameplay! Its obvious from the first look that theyve invested a lot lf time and effort to create a beautiful Heian village. The color scheme is amazing and it really stands out. The different side events such as contests and request are set up so that you can enjoy the game at your own pace while always having some challenges if you feel up to it. The different animations of spirit guardians in towns are also super wholesome, not to mention the login screen at night timeoverall the game is filled with rewarding details that makes the town management super enjoyable.
Just finished our first play through, this game combines and perfects elements from our favorite previous kairosoft games. City building, layout combos, managing, mini games, and some tower defense. 10/10.
Great variety of gameplay for different styles, but still mellow enough to pick up and put down anytime.
Ive been a fan of Kairosoft games for a long time. The last 2 years they have really incorporated all of their diverse lessons learned to make even better games. This one is probably our favorite. Although TV Show story is a close tie. Hope you enjoy as much as we are.

Just completed play through of the first area. It allows you to keep playing that area if you want to, and it will be fun to keep building our city. This might be our favorite Kairosoft game yet. Its a good city builder, plus a lot of other side things to do like build up your residents so they can participate in various tournaments (our favorite is the poetry contest), and build up your guardians to defend the city in an RPG tower defense type of mini game. If you like Kairosoft games Dungeon Village or Ninja Village in particular, you will like this one. Cute graphics and sounds. Lots to do. Good little quests. Addictive in a good way. Our phone does NOT get hot playing this and does not lose much battery at all while playing it. Thank you for that!! Looking forward to continuing to build this city but also trying out the other areas now.
If you have to look at reviews, you dont know what this company is about. Consistently have had the best games. Why havent you bought the entire collection yet.
Id say its worse than some other kairo games but we like the colour pallete.
Loved building our city, but we had a few issues figuring out what buildings would combo with each other. It felt like only the earlier buildings had combos, and not many of the later buildings.
Mini games are breakthrough and art style is fantastic. But we need more game content.
Ive been playing Kairosoft games since their first English release and own all their games. Im a huge fan! Thank you for your hard work! Here is our review. You dont get your own unique character ): Kairosoft allowed us to do this with other games, but not this one. We wish there was more to do and customize. We want to customize names, clothes, etc. We can only choose different jobs for villagers, but thats it. We wish there was more complexity in the game. Dream Town Story is amazing because it has both layers and customization abilityplayers can rename characters, choose their partner, name their child, etc. Characters even had unique pets. They took what worked from Edo Towns and other town management game, and put them into this game and expanded on it. Its good to see them take elements that works! Riding, changing jobs, building combos, the news announcing, etc. We havent experienced a bug or crashes. Kairosoft games are so stable. The pixel art is beautiful, as always. Theres variety to plants, buildings, and clothes. We want to play this game for years to come, so while it is beautiful and interesting, it just isnt complex enough. Youll replay the game to try different maps and find out all the building combos, but thats it. Theres a limit to how you customize your game, which is only the characters jobs and where the buildings are placed.
This is only our 2nd Kairo game, our first being dream town story. We spent days and days playing DTS, we spent about maybe 5 hours total playing this. It was fun but when it ended we were left with the that was it? Feeling. It felt sudden and abrupt comparatively. We spent a lot of time lamenting over which of the games to buy next and we are bummed we ended up choosing this one cause we were just hoping for more out of it since it is newer. The art is cute, the fighting element was funonto the next game we guess.
We love kairosoft games but this one is just lacking. We were honestly rlly excited to have another game focused on building a village/ city since those are our favorites. However, we were disappointed when it came to actual gameplay. Not enough buildings. After unlocking an abundance of them in the beginning we thought it was gonna keep going, but no. Besides those, theres only like like a handful of buildings left. Made us pretty sad bc thats usually our favorite part Love the actual scenery and overall vibe of the land. RIVERS AND BRIDGESSSSS. The dimmer color palette especially when the seasons change. ITS ALL SO NICE, great art per usual Not able to do enough with the villagers. No partners, no children, no pets (rides dont count lol) cant change their clothes or anything without changing their jobs, we do like the jobs tho is pretty cool. Recommended for ppl who rlly like ninja story. Love this game tho just like every other kairosoft games, but we think its time for us to go make a new save on dream town story.
Im a huge Kairosoft fan. We buy every release. This one doesnt really have any good gameplay. Buildings are unique but functionality all are the same. Leveling up your citizens dont matter either. Just seems like nothing to do. We discover and are awarded items but like every other feature it doesnt really do anything. We couldnt even finish our first play through because its just too boring.
