We’ve been using Flute Master for about 6 months with our 4 yo and weve both went from complete novice to competent proficiency during that time. We practice 15 mins a day usually 2-3 days per week, sometimes more, and we have a blast. Our daughter especially likes the dragon Cornelius flying in before each song and the concept of different colored bats representing notes on the scale. We just witnessed her play the C scale note by note for a friend earlier today (which prompted us to write this review), something we’ve never seen her do, and the game doesnt even offer playing scales, shes just picked it up from all the song progressions! From a technical perspective, the game is flawless. We’ve never encountered a single glitch. The game has never crashed or done anything wonky. It always saves our progress. With the mic listening allowed, it hears our notes played and tells us in real time if were slaying the bats or not (sorry bat lovers). The interface is gorgeous. There is so much detail to this kids game. Theres a storyline thats fun. And one can purchase cheap song packs ($1-2 each) to unlock even more play-along gameplay. As a grown up, Im pretty excited to move into intermediate proficiency and beyond with this app one day, and am actually looking forward to mastering some of the songs. Thank you!
It worked great for a day and then we tried to use our AirPods it wouldn’t recognize the microphone so we disconnected the AirPods and went back to trying to use the speaker and now doesn’t seem to be able to find the microphone. We have tried many times quitting out of the program, making sure the program is permitted to access the microphone, changing settings, etc. To no avail. Our microphone is definitely still working as we are speaking this review into it.
While other music game apps are really instruction aids with point systems, Flute Master actually has thematic elements to make the learning process fun! We love playing video games and have always thought they would translate well to learning music, and we’ve been disappointed by apps that try to teach dumbed down versions of the same popular songs. Flute Master lets you play fun, original songs using a simple and intuitive method. Our only complaint is that the game didnt go far enough! We were hoping it would go into sharps and flats and the higher notes. We hope the developers are continuing to work on this great game!
Im a Music Teacher in a public school this is an excellent app, fun and exciting for kids we would love to use this with our entire school population.

We got this game, because we found a record in some box in the basement. After we cleaned it out, we thought it might be nice to try and learn how to play it. So we downloaded flute master, but for some reason the app kept freezing, and saying our microphone didnt start on time. As first we though our mic was broken, but tested it out with another app that teaches you how to play a recorder. But that app worked just fine. We thought it was just a glitch so we reseted our iPad. But it still did not work, we ended up deleting the app. Very disappointing.
This game makes learning so fun. Its WAY better than YouTube videos, we definitely recommend it!
Im a kid and we got this so we could learn recorder because we were lucky on our test and almost failed because of our notes werent long enough but this app really helps and its really fun but one thing it could really have more breath marks.
This is the best app we are 9 and it helped us anlor.
