We are going to assume Insect Lore sells Butterfly Gardens … Well they have our kids hooked! They have not stopped playing with the App, and we are sure hopeful Santa brings a couple for under the tree! Kid-Tested, Dad-Approved!
We’ve raised the caterpillars from Insect Lore, so we knew the drill. This was fun and simple enough for the 5 year old to play with – not precisely like the real thing, but close enough!
We feel like a 1st grader again!!
Well, on our dads phone it showed them fluttering around but it never happened for us. Please update! We need to see them MOVE and DRINK!!!!

What a mezmerizing app. Stunning in its simplicity Now we can grow digital caterpillars every single day! Oh wondrous May what have you brought? Wonderful caterpillars, and they have cost us naught!
We feel like we’re a kindergarten we again! It brings back memories a couple months ago when our class released the butterflies! It was sad, but beautiful! Great, over all.
We’ve been a fan of Insect Lore for years and our children have raised Painted Lady butterflies many times. This cool app allows anyone to replicate the butterfly growing process that you get to witness when using the real Live Butterfly Garden kit. Although it doesn’t completely mimic the magic of seeing butterfly metamorphosis first hand, it is a fun and educational substitute. I’d recommend it!
Every five seconds they are saying feed the butterflies. Other than that it’s great!!!
This is a good tool to use @ school to front old information to our 3rd graders while learning the life cycle of a butterfly and waiting for the weather to warm up. We like that it shows the egg… You can never get that that from the company (not to their fault of course). We like the fast progression so the children will be able to see what happens. We are disappointed that the butterflies did not fly around. They only left their empty chrysalis when we went back to the cup then back to the butterfly habitat. When 4 butterflies were together, they were in the same place making it difficult to watch just one. We would like to see them drink. That is one of the favorite things to see!
The whole cycle completes within a few minutes, we were under the impression this was a virtual pet that took days to grow. The caterpillars only shed once and had no legs! The food in the cup didn’t even go away, why is there a feeding option? Also, it says they grow depending on your location and even asks for your real life location. It was dark when we played yet in game it was light. If they made this more lifelike, interactive, and realistic we think it would be more fun.
Great game. It’s fun to play and to name your butterflies But it sends you so many reminders.
Ridiculous. The butterflies barely move and your notifications are always bugging you to feed them. The life cycle is only a few minuets, therefore very unreasonable. It held us for a few minuets, but that was it. To make this game better we would make the life cycle more long with more stages, actually allow the butterflies move around in their big cage, and make the app stop telling you to refill their food platter. We deleted this app almost a day after we downloaded it.
