What Makes Lovecraft's Untold Stories Stand Out
Lovecraft’s Untold Stories is an action rogue-lite with RPG elements. You explore randomly generated levels based on the H.P. Lovecraft stories, fighting cultists and all kinds of monsters from the Mythos, improving your weapons and gear, solving puzzles and challenges, and looking for clues and knowledge to defeat the Great Old Ones and the Outer Gods.
LIVE H.P. LOVECRAFT’S STORIES
Lovecraft’s Untold Stories is based on H.P. Lovecraft’s stories. You will experience first-hand the cosmic horror created by the genius of Providence. Every character will go through an investigation that will take them through different locations, from the creepy old Victorian mansion to the abandoned hospital where forbidden experiments take place or the jungle where lost tribes celebrate forgotten rituals, just to name a few. Levels are randomly generated: it will be a different experience every time you play. Also, they vary depending on the character you’re playing with. Look for items and clues to unlock secrets and new stories.
5 CHARACTERS, 5 WAYS OF FIGHTING THE MYTHOS
You can play as 5 different characters, each with a different playstyle and storyline. A private detective, a witch, a thief, a professor, and even a ghoul—each with different stats, weapons, and combat moves, creating five entirely different gameplay experiences. The Detective offers a balanced playstyle, with average Health and Stamina. The Professor is a specialist in ranged combat, with less Health and a special shield granted by his weapon, the Tillinghast. The Witch does a lot of damage, has teleport abilities and elemental shields of fire and ice, but also a very low Health. The Thief is a specialist in melée combat that takes advantage of its stealth to maximize her damage. The ghoul does a lot of melée damage, has a high Health and regenerates itself, but can’t use medkits at all.

Recent improvements include:
Dear investigators,
We have uploaded the new version 1.321. In it, we have fixed several bugs, and we have improved the balance of the Professor, as he seemed to be the most problematic character of all five:
Fixes:
We have fixed an issue with a text in German appearing on the description of the first level, for players playing in English.
We have fixed the issue on which the weapons didn´t work when you dragged them from the inventory of the Storage to the player's inventory.
We have fixed the issue that slowed down the inventory of the Strange place when it contained a lot of items.
We have fixed a problem with the minimap.
We have fixed an issue with several mini-events which didn´t count for the achievements.
We have fixed the issue that didn´t let you access to the Secret level when you restarted the Strange place location.
Professor: We have increased the damage of the weapons (not the basic one).
Professor: We have increased the damage of the mines.
As always, thanks a lot for your support! Please, send us your comments, opinions, ideas… We will be happy to read them!

Community Insight:
If you love Lovecraft and Roguelite games, this is a must have! The pixel art style also a really nice touch, honestly if it was a different style we dont think it would hit as hard, something about it just feels right, overall awesome game and worth the money ;3 (Also for anyone stuck at the beginning with the tree, you have to be back a bit when you roll not right in front of it).
Love love love this game , best game we have ever played on AppStore.
This game is great. We love it. It's got an old-school feeling mythos of course lots of fun. We waste a lot of time at work playing this game which really works out well for us.
Our first foray into The Lovecraft Mythos and its been an intriguing one. After trying the game out on GooglePlay and moving over to IOS recently its been an interesting thrilling adventure. Ive played with multiple characters and Ive to say its a very immersive and yet challenging experience. The various difficulty levels have you traversing the polished maps with cautious adventure. The style line unfolds and the mythos opens up to you as you develop an interest in the collective ties that bind the characters together. Would recommend the game well. Ive played both inebriated and sober and Ive to say its a challenge of clarity overall. Think critically and pay attention to the keen details of the game as it requires multiple play through. Most of all have fun and get a feel for the characters as you go as the storyline and characterization collectively mesh together well.
Everything Lovecraft! This game does a great job of showcasing the feel of Lovecraft.
This is the rogue-like ive been waiting for. Lots of nods to Lovecraft and the Mythos; great little easter eggs (like a certain Reanimator). It has quirks you need to learn painfully and does not hold your hand but as someone whose favorite game ever is Dark Souls, im good with that. We paid a non-discounted $10 and we got that value in the first two chapters with just one of the four playable characters. Highly recommend if youre a Mythos fan for sure.
Its cheap and engaging. What more could you want from a mobile game.
This game is a joy to play, and we can tell the devs put an A+ effort into the making and execution. This game has so much to offer. Im still playing the detective character, and look forward to progressing.
Creepy, disturbing, and totally interesting. Cool story and a good rouge lite with many unlockable characters. Worth the $$.
Some of the negatives that are stated in the comments are there but not at the degree that is said, the game is a challenge, but gives you the feeling of accomplishment instead of holding your hand.
We saw our own skeleton and turned our shotgun on ourselves. What the hell?! Didnt see that coming. Just a sample of whats in store when playing this game. Simple enough, but youre probably going to be your own worst enemy and die from your own errors or insane choices. Either way, youll probably die. Or not. They give you enough medical supplies to help you keep from bleeding out, so maybe youll have a long run and get to meet the Old Ones. And then die. Im only on Chapter 2, but so far am loving it. Atmospheric, enough secrets and Lovecraft lore to stay intriguing. It is pulling us away from our other games we said we wouldnt get distracted from until they were finished. We recommend this game.
This adventure is everything a Lovecraft fan could want, and plays in a style similar to Diablo II. The only thing we didnt like was the layout of the controls, but we soon realized theyre customizable. A lot of thought went into creating this game. Its huge and has an exceptionally polished feel. Congrats, dudes.
We're updating our review since recent updates to the game have considerably improved its appeal. So imagine if you took Diablo, Zombies Ate our Neighbors (old SNES game), and mashed those together with Lovecraft, that is basically this game. This game is a near perfect update to the rogue-like game model from the days of Nintendo and Sega to a more mature stage of gaming. The game is brutally hard even on easy settings which is nicer than you might think because it still represents a challenge for players, but never impedes you so much as to frustrate you into quitting. Recent updates to the game have allowed the game to save your progress after you have traveled to a certain number of rooms, but it only does this in the first stage of a scenario (every scenario is split into two levels, the second level is optional) during the second level there are no save points. This we feel is a perfect compromise to keeping the rogue-like premise of the game without the frustration that can accompany some rogue-likes by having to restart every level from scratch. The gameplay is superb and each character provides a different challenge and each of their stories also provide challenges that will test your abilities. You will often have to restart a level and head back to the strange place to reequip yourself to better survive the challenges you face. The game is very long and we've yet to even fight the Old Ones, and have only played the first the characters. This is good as it keeps the level of playability high. Somethings that we would like to see would be a way to see our characters stats so we know what benefits game equipment is providing. We also think it would be cool to have equipment that are apart of a set so when all are worn you get additional abilities. The game also needs a better way of sorting items in both the inventory and the stash because they quickly can become crowded and difficult to navigate. This game really deserves more recognition and be featured on the app store, because it's amazing.
We have no idea how to get past the beginning Theres a gate to a mansion and a car blocking the way and a tree next to it Theres nowhere to go At least not for what we see Please help.
But it keeps crashing with the professor when we try to start ch2.
We love this game. Its so much fun and very challenging, but we had a couple of crashes during chapter 2. Now Im on chapter 3 and the game crashes are more frequent than before. Its making it impossible to move forward in the game :(.
It keeps crashing for us please fix this because this game is amazing and really fun. This game is something we could play all night if it didnt crash all the time. Please fix.
At first it seemed like it was going to be an exciting otherworldly mystery, but quickly becomes a chore of pointless exploring and collecting, exploring and collecting, like a typical dungeon game without much narrative to keep it interesting. For $9.99 we expected to be entertained and engaged, not just initially preoccupied then bored.
For anyone with larger hands Id say it borders on unplayable joystick wise. We only spent 0.99 on it though and we enjoyed it so we deleted it and went and got the console version instead.
Trying the Lite version we were able to play using the Apple keyboard for our iPad Pro. When we bought the full version we were not able to use it anymore. Upon further inspection, looks like the lite version has a lot more recent version than the full version. Thats annoying.
Im using an IPhone 6 and we cant play more than 15 minutes without the app crashing. Maybe yall could help us out.
Enjoyed the story, but cant deal with all crashes starting Ch. 3. Save yourself some money and frustration. Update: every scenario/clue in ch. 3 that causes loss of sanity is crashing your app.
We wanted to love the game but after the twentieth time dying in the same level and replaying the same room battles over and over again we gave up on it. If you like replaying the same fights over and over and over and over and over again because you die and cant save your place even though youve cleared twenty rooms, this game is for you.
We love this game but we get frustrated over the lack of control over savings. We can spend an hour sweeping everything clean, go to the yellow inventory box (without going to the safe place) and then if we need to leave, we just restart as if we would had done no progress at all in the level. If we go to the next level inside the chapter (IE green mines) but need to leave to the safe place we go back to the beginning of the previous chapter with blank state! Please save us hours of gameplay or just let us have them for fun and not be it of frustration. The lack of saving control is truly ruining gameplay. Please add a patch to give us save control. Thank you so much.
We gave it a good shot for a couple hours but it's just not very fun. Also whenever you try to throw explosives as the detective, they literally never get thrown the direction you are facing. Turning invisible and sneaking up on a monster with a molotov cocktail doesn't work, because when you go to throw it the character decides to turn around and throw it against the wall.
We guess it might be cool if there was a way to get past the fallen tree and the car at the beginning. Guess Ill never know. Glitch.
Great aesthetics and world building, but… Im a veteran Wayward Souls player and we cant beat the Professors prologue, even after trying for hours on easy difficulty. The buttons are small enough to miss in the heat of battle, its easy to aim in the wrong direction, and overall the controls do not feel precise. One little mistake and Im swarmed by enemies. Wish the controls were more like Wayward Souls. Or could you at least make the buttons bigger? Or add a balance update for the Professor? Hope you fix this so that we can once again enjoy the game. UPDATE: Thank you for the response. We did not know about the custom controls, and it significantly helps to be able to make the joysticks bigger. Now we can keep going, but Easy difficulty is still no joke.
This game is off to a strong start. If they can fix the save issues, and add controller support, we would rate this a five star game.
Please add auto save! You should be able to close out then come back later to finish your run. Also, it stinks gameplay doesnt pause when you open your inventory makes it really hard to heal/use an item during a serious battle.
