Community Insight:
We were a 9 year old kid when we played this game on 2600! Now Im a man in our 50s that is #1 in the world on mobile device rankings!! Thank you for inspiring us with this cool game.
Fun game, throw back to Atari kaboom. But the music is the best part! Great lyrics.
What a fun game! The haters hating on the soundtrack? Haters gonna hate. Its ridiculous. We love it. No ads. No IAP. No BS. Whats not to love? Dear Dev, 1. Update app to allow people to give you $1.99 for some arbitrary supporter feature, like a new background color or bomber, or nothing. Just take $ from people who like to support game devs. #BucketBrigade 2. Thats it. Great game. Thanks.
Smooth animation of this 1980s game throw back. The background music is campy and retro but works well. We find the game quite meditative as you get in the zone caching the bombs.
Literally, with the gameplay of Kaboom from the Atari 2600, and a literal full game soundtrack that we actually listen to, this is the best game we have ever played on iPhone. The amount of work put into this is staggering. We have played this for 4 years now, we just recently got this new iPhone and have still been playing it. There's no ads, there's no payments, it's literally all free. This is the perfect game on iPhone. Why has this not (no pun intended) blown up yet? It's terrible seeing these terrible boring games like, Candy Crush, Mario Run, and Angry Birds being so popular, when we have MADBOMBZ. In fact, we're giving this game not 5 stars, but we will go as far as to say this game blows Zelda Breath of the Wild out of the water. We're Breath of the Wild, we're constantly thinking,"this weapons gonna break… It broke.. Great… Where's another weapon" But MadBombz, as we play, it's literally hypnotizing, our mind goes into a meditated state, catching bombs. We don't even think about it. And then we realize we're at level 12, and freak out with excitement and.. Oh.. We break a streak. But we know the next time, we'll stay calm and keep going and not think about it. That's why it's so addicting. You want to push yourself to the next level, just to look like a bada** to everyone. We love it when we get to like, level 12, and we hand it over to a friend and say, hey, try this, and instantly lose, they hand it back, and on level 11, we catch every single bomb as they watch in awe. This game has helped us become popular in school. It has raised our self esteem so much, we have been doing great in school, to the point where we now have an early bachelors degree in directing. That is why we're now writing a script for a MadBombz Movie. It's going to be a musical, featuring remastered versions of the songs in the game, and new ones! It will be an action movie, a comedy, and a love movie. A one of a kind! We won't be spoiling too many details, but we're set to start filming in 14 months, so for anyone who sees this, stay tuned. Oh. Right about the game. Yeah. If you're considering downloading it and reading this one review first, just stop reading now and go play it. And show it to your friends. It's going to blow (heh) up like crazy one day. And we're calling it right here and right now. This is proof that we, ChrisCube, have claimed that one day in the future, this iPhone game will be popular beyond the creator's expectations.
We love this version of Kaboom! The only thing is the music, its quite awful and a music on/off button would make the game perfect. Conclusion: please add a music mute button.
Really glad to have found this game. We were searching for "Kaboom," the Atari game we had played as a kid and we found this. It's very similar to Kaboom, except with Kaboom, the levels alternated where one had bombs spread far apart and then the next alternating levels would be bombs dropped very close together. By the way, there is a different song that plays for each of the three "types" of games…the first (we think) is "Normal" mode, then second is Santa Claus theme ("Xmas"), and then there is a third one ("Fiesta"). We (and our wife and our daughter) absolutely LOVE the song that goes with the NORMAL theme!!! What is that!?!? It's the most catchy song we think we've ever heard in a video game!!! Just awesome! We actually just turned the game on again to hear that song again!!! Haha! One request we have is to add a way to get to settings and a way to quit the game when you are in the middle of game. Right now, after the game starts, you can't change the settings and you can't go back to the menu. Instead, you have to let the bombs fall and start over in order to get to settings, play a new game or get to the menu. Another request is to make the graphics a bit better. In any case, it's a great "Kaboom-like" game that is great for ages, we'd say, 5 and up.
Does anyone know what that song is? Just for that.
This is great game. Simple and fun and the dev keeps it fresh. Don't know why anyone would give it a bad review. Dumb punk reviewer kids – Get off our lawn.
Reminiscent of kaboom! On the atari 2600 with an original soundtrack that rocks. Good job developer. Cant play it anymore thanks to recent update requiring ios 4.3, many are stuck on 4.2.1 due to older devices. Please change it back.
The game is fine boring you move a paddle around so yeah buy it and try it out.
Cannot wait for the new upgrade, madbombz fiesta mode! Overall Great game with intense music.
Brilliant game with a phenomenal soundtrack. Both this game and Parappa the Rapper taught us to believe in ourselves. We play Madbombz whenever our confidence is lacking. How can you possibly improve upon something so close to perfection? Two words…FIESTA MODE.
Atari graphics take us back! Great job.
At first we found the game a bit confusing – there are bombs falling everywhere, but what do you do with them? Well it turns out you catch them all. If you turn the sound on, there's a narrator who explains everything, and it's smooth sailing after that. More than anything else, this game has taught us that if you believe in yourself, anything is possible. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
This is an outstanding game. Challenging & the music keeps the tempo rocking… If u believe in ur self.
Addictive gameplay and awesome music.
An interesting remake of the classic "Kaboom!" game. Seems a little too easy though. Needs to pause itself when something pops up on phone (got the 20% battery warning and game continued play). Mediocre at best for the time being.
