Community Insight:
There are no ads, no pop-ups, no clutter, no spying. He even switched to a dark background so that you dont blind yourself at night. We had to go with a 4 or 5 a 4 because there arent any options to make it more intricate, difficult, or personal; a 5 because it does exactly what it is supposed to and doesnt taint it. Its a tiny app with classic fun and no baggage.
Otherwise, Im a fan of the simple aesthetic.
This game is exactly what the App Store needs more of. Mastermind is beautifully simple, with a clean and intuitive design that makes it a joy to play. There are no ads, no in-app purchasesjust pure gameplay. We honestly would pay for it to support the developer, because its clear this was made with thoughtfulness and care. A truly kind genius created this, and Im so grateful for it. Im off to see if this developer has made more gamesfingers crossed, because Id download them in a heartbeat.
Ill keep it short and sweet. 1. The game is 100% ad-free. 2. You never have to pay. 3. Its the same Mastermind that we know and love. 4. It takes up close to no storage. 5. No WiFi needed. Theres only one thing we want to change. We want to be able to move the location of pegs, so we can lock in a choice. Other than that, amazing game.
Perfect app. It's just the game without anything extra to worry about. No lives, teams, unlockables, etc. If you want a simple puzzle game, this app is great.
Our only reservation is you cant play with two players. The board game Im used to has 10 rows but we dont find we ever need 10 so Im fine with 8.
Its the game of Mastermind, and youre not constantly interrupted by ads. In fact, you are never interrupted by ads. You get to play the game. Could it have more features and thus be better? Yes, but we would rather use this than use a game with more features but be interrupted to hit the smallest close ad button possible.
We really appreciate the developers commitment to making this straightforward version of the classic Mastermind game. Clean UI. Fun gameplay. Just what we were looking. And thank you for no tracking of user data etc.

This game is awesome! If your hesitating to get it, get it! It has no ads and the rules are very well explained. We knew how to play when we downloaded it, but if we didnt know how to play we could have learned easy from the rules. Love the colors and that its organized nicely.
Ive never played mastermind before but we love puzzles and this challenges our deduction skills. However, please change the orange color – we have trouble distinguishing it from the red. Its an age thing. Thanks.
Well designed and easy to use. We had never played Mastermind before, so we wish there was an instructions tab (maybe we couldnt find it?) but after reading the about info here in the App Store it was perfectly logical. 5 stars.
We have never once left a review on an app, but this is just really good. Super clean interface, no ads, exactly how the original game plays. Just happy to see someone put in the effort for the community.
Well, maybe not since it is exactly the same. Its simple and perfect. No bells or whistles just the game as we remover it. And no ads. The developer should reall have a tip jar.
We do love how this game looks, although we agree with the other reviews about making it more multiplayer rather than playing a bot. Also we wish the colors could be used multiple times instead of just once, to make it more challenging. We got bored of this game after ten minutes of playing because Id guess the pattern in 5 or less tries.
A simple but well executed game that entertains and develops logic skills. Sometimes a cover can be better than the original in music and the same applies to games.
We like the App however it is different from the original game in that you dont have the option of placing 2 of the same colors as you can with the board game. That can help in resolving the puzzle as well as there can be 2 of the same color as the secret code! We think the developers should look at that option as well. Thanks.
We love the game but we dont like that we have to put the colors in order from left to right. It kind of throws off our thought process.
So glad you made our favorite game for our iPad. One suggestion. Please make it so that you have to press a button to enter your complete guess. We need to see our choices in place to figure it out and it might be too late for us to see our error. Thanks.

We DLed it tried it and decided it wasnt for us. Too simple, no sound, nothing other than the game. Ok to each. But we really think its rude when every feedback note gets a, Thanks for your review and a smile emoji. Ummm there were only fifteen reviews at this writing. Come on, Alex, put a little heart in it.
Great design but annoying that we cant put a peg in until the pegs on the left are placed first. Would like to put all four in and then submit instead of the fourth peg triggering a submit automatically.
We understand what needs to be done. We dont understand how we can go from having 3 in the right spot and the 4th not being there to simply replacing the 4th and then none of the colors are in the right spot. This game makes 0 sense. Anyone saying this game is good is just feeling the creator get more people to download this game.
Its worse that you can only enter left to right and have no time/ choice to submit your guess. -Its not bad that theres 6 colors that dont include black or white. – But should be able to use a color more than once. -Im deleting for a different version of master mind that is like the real one.
Thought it was fun until we realized the first guess ALWAYS has two or three correct colors but never in the correct position. Seriously? Theres no chance of getting one right on the first guess? Once we noticed that, it wasnt fun anymore.
This is so stupid, we just started playing MasterMind IRL, and in this version we cant use the same color twice or more, which ruins our whole strategy, and there is no options menu, just the stupid game itself. If there were an options menu that could allow repeating guesses/colors we would totally rate 5 stars.
We love this app! It takes up very little storage space on our phone and has no ads! The only thing we would change about it is that the codes never have repeated colors, so its not as challenging as the mastermind board game.
Finally an app that doesnt bombard you with ads every single time you start a new game. Exceptionally fun board game that is translated to a simple, no-frills app. A breath of fresh air! Well done.
Putting aside the lack of sound effects or bells and whistles, we cant come up with any criticisms of this app. Plus its fully free and devoid of annoying ads.
We havent played this game in 30 years maybe and stumbled on it in the App Store and Im enjoying it immensely. As noted by others, thanks for not colorizing and animating this to distraction. This is a game that thrives on concentration. We showed it to our 10 yr old and she immediately picked up on how the game is played and is getting quite adept at it in a short time. If we were to suggest any improvements, we would add a 5-place option and (unless Im overlooking it) the ability to skip a current game and start a new one. Sometimes we put the game down and want to restart with a new board later. Great job.
We like to find the answer using a pattern of repeating the same colors. This game doesn't let us do that, so we notched it down one star. Having said that, the app is well made, it's easy to use, and it's free with no ads, so it rocks.
We knew we were pretty good at the board game and we wanted to see if their was a mobile version and there was! It is very good but we just wish that there were 10 spaces instead of 8, you could do a two player thing where someone made the pattern and then they gave whatever device to other person etc, so like the board game but two people are just passing a device around. This isnt really that big of a deal but we wish the colors black and white were in the game instead of purple and orange. That is all we have to say, otherwise this is pretty enjoyable.
Theres no way to repeat color pegs so for example to pick two greens and two reds in one row. Makes it significantly too easy unfortunately. Ended up downloading a different version. Nice app tho and no ads which is appreciated.
