What Makes MorseZapp – Learn Morse Code Stand Out

MorseZapp is a great way to learn morse code. It's a fun and unique CW trainer of International Morse Code. Each level challenges you to learn the correct sequence of dits and dashes to zap the letter before it hits the bottom of the screen. Great for learning morse code for amateur radio, ham radio, military, or just tapping out a message to your friends.

You tap the dit and dash sequence on the tap pad at the bottom of the screen to create the correct letter. Tap fast for a dit, and hold a little longer for a dash.

Sound hints and visual clues help you with beginner levels, showing you the sequence for the letter that is up and playing the sound for that letter to help you recognize it both visually and with audio.

Levels help you get the timing right, and each level progressively gets faster to work on your speed and to challenge you.

Sound only levels make you listen to the dit and dash sequence and then choose the correct letter from a list before it hits the bottom. This helps with sound recognition.

Community Insight:

We went from not knowing a single bit of Morse code to being a master at it just using this app in a day. Compatible with our old devices too. You do not have to pay and its a fun concept. 10/10.

Love the app! Helps keep your skills sharp! We memorized all the letters. Now we use a morse keyboard with confidence! Like we said, great app. Must have for anyone who wants to learn morse code.

Amazing app. We learned all letters quickly! Love the game. Free version very powerful. Paid version great value. LOVE IT. Best app Ive found to really learn quickly.

This app makes it easy to learn or review Morse code. The app worked flawlessly for us. The interface is pleasant, configuration options allow you to tailor the app for your needs, and the barrage of letters is actually challenging (but in a good way), it forces you to focus and stay on task thus accelerating your learning on how to send. It starts in normal difficulty, but can be switched to easy or hard to suit your individual needs. Hopefully, next on their road map is the flip-side, listening to the code and selecting the correct response. Letters first, then words.

This is a pretty decent app. You do have to pay for most of the features. The only free part that we could find was sending letters. We personally think there are better apps out there. This app has very lose tolerances on how long a dash is. That would be good for a beginner that's just learning but if you at all serious we would recommend getting a different app.

Could see ourselves exercising on this app from day to day to get more comfortable. We would like to listen to podcasts during practicing and thats not possible because there are no volume controls in the app. You can change the tone freq but its at 100% volume and always going to be painfully louder than other media.

We only tried the free version but didnt see where paying would change this: too many letters, too fast. It piles em all up on you without a way to break it into bite-sized chunks. We love the concept.

Does not say how much pro costs.

We think this is a perfect app to practice morse code with!! Would definitely recommend if you are trying to get some . And – practice :).

Using this app can really help you to get some basic familiarity of the Morse system. Thanks guys, a great tool to improve knowledge and, frankly, it really is quite enjoyable.

We never write reviews for apps but we really like this one. It made learning morse code so much easier than we ever thought it could be.

Helped us learn Morse code in one day.It overall was a brilliant app.

This app is really great! We know all the letters now, we gotta get everything else down! Thanks for this great app.

We tried many different Morse code apps and found this was the best, for us, to learn the alphabet in Morse code. We had the entire alphabet down in about two weeks with daily practice. After that we found this app was a little limited and we went to different apps. This app could use more word and sentence practices and more intense listening exercises. But for learning the alphabet, this app is a champ.

Thanks so much for crafting and sharing MorseZapp. Please consider adding an iambic paddle mode.

Am having problems with some letters not registering what we tab Hope you follow up. Thank you.

After completing Morse Toad, we started playing this app. Its pretty good, but we wish there were a package with punctuation marks (theyre probably covered in some lessons somewhere – just cant find it). Also, itd be very nice if for the common Q codes and CW codes there were an option to display their meaning so you can memorize what they mean while learning to tap them out.

We think you should be able to speed up the characters coming at you with the Farnsworth method. This would make the app perfect. Also some keys not registering as you have to use the screen as a key. The RX time sometimes doesnt pick up. Other than that , pretty solid to get your learning slow code in. Keep the updates coming please.

Learning to send Morse code is relatively easy. Receiving is when the difficulty comes in. Most people can send much faster than they can receive. This program would have been much better if it sent the code signal and let you pick the letter. We are a ham radio operator and have studied code for over 40 years. Receiving has always been a problem for the new and intermediate ham radio operator.

Its got a good sound but to really learn the spacing for the dots/dashes are just wrong seems like.

It doesnt work even for a single time.

This app has bad timing issues. It often will not recognize correct answers which will lead to the user developing a bad fist.

We are enjoying learning the proper way to key CW at the proper speed with MorseZapp! We have experienced no bugs or problems. GET THIS APP.

After only a couple hours we knew the whole alphabet in Morse code. For three dollars Id recommend buying it if you actually want to learn Morse. The only problem we experienced is that you cannot change the WPM, which has no affect on typing out the code, but Id like to be able to hear it faster. An easy solution to the problem though is to just go on YouTube or something to listen to it faster. Anyways, we would recommend buying the full app.

Sometimes the box you tap the signals into doesnt clear when you mess up and youre stuck just sitting there watching the letters go down. Its really annoying when you have to restart a level because of this but other than that its good.

This app gives you a bit of practice but when youre trying to zap fast on abbreviations, tones run into each other making it very difficult to understand letters. All the letters just run into each other. This is not practical for learning Morse code as rhythm is part of understanding Morse code letters.

Very often we get dits instead of dahs as the first part of a letter when we clearly mean a dah. This detection is accurate for following sounds, but the first sound for a letter is wrong so so often. Its frustrating when the letters are coming down quick, but in order for the game to detect a dah correctly, you need to go daaaaaaaah dahhhhhhh so that it doesnt mistake a dit. Improve the detection for fast learners that want to get up to speed.

The button to make a dit or dah (. Or -) sometimes malfunctions and makes the wrong thing despite what you press which wouldnt be that big of a deal if you werent timed so harshly as you are in this. Plus the only free level is supposed to teach you letters but only teaches you a couple. It would be great with some tinkering and if you didnt have to buy everything.

Why does the app start back down at the first level every time we open the app, and we can't just choose a higher level to work on? We thought we would really like this app after the free levels so we paid to upgrade. Now we feel cheated.

Always wanted to learn a new language and thought to give this app a try since Morse is a language. Have to say that this app has made us a quick learner and it is amazing to see ourselves learn and how intuitive the app is toward the learning process. Would definitely recommend.

We played this app every time we had to load in a game, cause the levels were so short. We already know all letters a-p and working on the rest. This game helped us learn Morse code in a flash.

We were looking for a good way to learn Morse code and we found it. Its fun, not tedious, easy to figure out from the first. Ive been trying other online cw trainers, but this app helps us remember the letters and trains the ear for the sounds. Plus its in our pocket, whenever we have a few min we squeeze in some practice. Nice job.

Im an Amateur Extra Ham Radio operator and started learning code. This app seemed interesting but has some limitations on the way we were learning and at first, we were having a sound problem. We contacted tech support. We heard back from Barry in just a few minutes. He said he would take care of any problems we had. The sound turned out to be an Apple iPad problem with iOS 11.4, not with the app. And it was fixed easily. The other item, not really a problem with the app, was the learning style we were already using! We told him what how we were learning and within a few hours, had a custom learning package geared to the information we were using. It works great and has already enhanced our learning! We dont rate apps much, but this one, and Barry gets a perfect 10!! We love it!! We still use our main program for learning, but MorseZapp is our go to for practice and reinforcement now.
