NBA Math Hoops leverages the game of basketball and the NBA/WNBA brands to develop algebra readiness and youth development competency through physical and digital basketball-themed games, classroom curricula, and a community event series – primarily engaging students in grades 4-8 across in-school, out-of-school, and home learning environments. The curriculum is mapped to the Common Core Standards and 21st Century Learning Skills and is a nationally approved math curriculum for the Boys and Girls Club of America. We have lost many times but this is a very fun, happy, game and your kids students or anyone who plays this will have a good review about this game.
As an Out of School advocate, we really enjoyed the app. We loved not having to wait too long to play against our opponent. It gave us enough time to focus on the math. It was easier to use on our laptop, desktop and tablet. The font and images were challenging to navigate on our phone but shouldnt be for our young people since they live on their phones.
This app has been an amazing addition for our students. The app allows our students to integrate technology in their learning. The app has great features and its played just like the board game. The great thing about the app is it also assists you by giving you suggestions and it it explains the rules, which is great for those that are new to the game. Ive seen our students very engaged in the app and become more confident in their math skills. They truly love math hoops and this app has contributed to their academic progress. Which is always what we want as educators.
As an educator who loves the game of basketball and enjoys teaching math, the NBA Math Hoops app is everything rolled into one! The game, not only integrates a positive outlook and achieving math skills, but also integrates the core fundamentals of basketball (shots, steals, etc.). When our students are not in the classroom participating in the NBA Math Hoops board game, we highly encourage them to play the app at home. The tutorial provides excellent support on how to play the game highly recommend.
Our 5th graders use this to improve speed of math facts! This gives them a purpose to learn their facts. Mrs. DeVaughan.
Whats 7/5? Quick! Shot clock expired. No basket. Lame.
This app is not right. The math is all wrong. When a problem says 9/2 =5 is wrong. Its not. We will not be having our son/daughter play this game. Its horribly made.
Our child couldnt have shown less interest before they got involved in the math hoops program. They had been struggling in math for sometime but the programs sports games got them super involved and their grades followed suit. Im so proud.
Our second grader loves this app! It makes her feel so good when she gets a shot right and it makes math so fun and engaging. The design is incredible, one of the best NBA games Ive seen! Ill definitely be keeping an eye out for any more educational designs by this company.
