What Makes OptiFlight Stand Out

Step into the world of airline route planning, where your goal is to create a flight network to guide passengers to their destinations in a limited amount of time. You get to call the shots on which routes to draw and which cities to designate as hubs that best serve each scenario. The flight maps you design will also need to be efficient and flexible to accommodate for events that may occur, like airport rushes and closures, as its effects ripple throughout your network. With over 350 geographically and historically themed levels to play, each map you make will be put to the test.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Take a step back in time and create flight maps for past historical scenarios, like the 1849 California Gold Rush and the 2012 London Olympic Games
  • Prepare for the future and create flight maps in realistic inclement weather simulation, including Hurricanes and Blizzards
  • Understand the present and create flight maps using actual cities, like New York City and Tokyo, to reflect real flight patterns

Community Insight:

Theres not enough info to be able to figure out why your routes dont work, and the user interface is remarkably crappy. When we tap on a city to draw a route, half the time it drags the screen instead. But when we DONT tap on a city, but double-tap in between to erase a route, THEN it assumes we want some city and zooms in on it. We spend as much time fighting the stupid UI as we do playing the game. There are other UI issues; the design team just isnt very smart, and the game isnt interesting enough to make up for that. So, meh.

First of all, we cant believe that we found a game which doesnt require to buy stupid coins to play or pass the level. It doesnt show any ads! And additional maps are only $1.99. Im planning to purchase it, since this game is really addicting and we really want to support developers like this. Genuine and passionate about the game they created. Great job and thank you for not trying to rip off players, like 90% games in the market.

Only problem is the subscription, which locks too much.

We are addicted to this game and cant stop playing. Good for those who like puzzles and strategy. Especially good for aviation enthusiasts, such as ourselves. No crazy ad pop ups. And the game is inexpensive (and worth it) to upgrade. Please buy the in-app purchase to support the developer. This is how apps should be.

To us, this is game that is just about puzzles and strategy. No unneeded gimmicks such as excessive ads, currencies, limited time events, mandatory Wi-Fi connection, and so forth. This game feels like it came from the golden era of apps. This game is about it being easy to learn but hard to master. And to us, the extra price is worth the many extra puzzles. You may not spend hours on it, but that is why it is good. It is meant to be challenging and interesting, not addicting. We also love the education element within it. You can learn Airport area codes and geography with this game you create paths from city to city. A weird opinion, but we love the soundtrack as well. The music is fun to listen to.

This game is a really fun puzzle game to play when Im trying to wind down, and it makes us actually think about our decisions. However we have a couple glaring problems with it. 1) When we have music playing on Spotify or YouTube Music while the app is open, it always tries to play its sound instead of our music. 2) we dont always feel like its possible to get a 100% sometimes. Not because the level is difficult but rather because Ill be left with a 99% or 98% after most levels and not see a last plane. Overall still a decent app but we wish these issues were smoothed out better.

This game is great! However, we wish that the game would use real airport IATA codes. It would be more realistic and easier to look at on the map.

Minimalist and sleek interface as well. 5 Stars.

Super fun puzzles. Full version is totally worth it. We believe that a few of the levels need to be fixed though because they arent possible to get 3 stars on, as evidenced by the leaderboards.

This game is a great game, but one thing we would really enjoy is a creative mode like you can connect whatever cites you want and not have a time limit or anything.

This is not was we expected and we love it.

Working through the United States and loving it. One suggestion: a restart with the option to remove routes automatically would be incredible because most of the time we like to mix up what Im doing on the second or third stage and it requires an extra few clicks each game. No big deal.

We really liked how everything connected, the airports, the closings and storms were all a cool and nice touch to the game.

Fun, tho kind of hit a (flight) ceiling after a while… Maybe we're missing something but unclear how you can ever meet the threshold when they throw a transcon destination in and you have no upgrade $. Also, Strongly agree with other reviewers that if you redo a level, it shouldnt revert to your prayer map! You might only want to tweak one route, but you have to redraw the entire thing! We'd say give options for reverting, revising, or erasing all routes.

This game is easy because you can you your maths to think.

Its such a simple concept, and then it adds easily-understood layers to that concept, and overall, you get a challenging, yet easy-to-play and enjoyable game.

We tried to get the expansion because just the US felt to boring but it would never let us get it.

If we could find a way to shut off the music, it would be a 5. Update: duh, scroll down and its there. Changed to a 5 from 4. Great game.

The core design of the game is solid. You draw a route map by connecting airports together, and upgrade them to increase their possible connections and the rate they send off airplanes at. More destinations and passengers are added as you go through a level, so you change your map to keep up. The biggest obstacle to playing it is that if you fail a stage of a level, you reset to the route map you had at the end of the last stage, not the one you started the stage with. If youre failing and retrying a stage repeatedly, this leads to a lot of repeated effort, since you have to make all of your changes over again instead of just tweaking a few connections after seeing where your bottlenecks are. It would be better to have an option to go back to the most recent state of your map just before you hit go on that stage.

A pure logistics game. No currency, no micromanaging. Its kind of a relief amid all the adhd that typically pollutes games. We like to play a level repeatedly untilI get all three stars. There needs to be a mechanism for preserving previous attempts so minor tweaks can be made rather than having to rebuild an entire routing scheme every time you retry a level. Same goes for the flight speed.

Its a good game but its really hard to do. We just did the Golden level and that was also 7 rounds and extremely hard. We guess it makes sense because the earlier levels of this game, so we probably just have to get better at the game.

Hey can u add skips to the game because Im having a hard time with level 27 and its hard.

This game is simple, fun, and addicting. Almost like an airport Mini Metro. Our only complaint is that too often we go to draw a route between two cities and it drags the map instead.

Just downloaded the game yesterday, and it seems like a fun strategy game. Our one complaint is it is TOUGH to open cities on the map. Zoom in, zoom out, touch the city 10 timesmaybe it will open. It may seem minor, but it takes the fun out of the game if you cant get it to work.

Our only wish is that it remembered our speed setting and we didnt have to change it after every reset.

It needs more than one star to pass it and we cant get past its arbitrary way of success.

We love the game a lot and it has amazing graphics yet we have been playing for 2 days and we havent moved on from level 2 can this be looked at cus we have played 10 games with level 2.

While we do truly love the game one thing that always bothered us about was the the timer , when it ends the planes just stop mid route , Ive lost quite a few times because of it, so all we ask is for when the timer ends no new planes fly out , but all planes midroute continue to they do fly to their destination great game all around besides That thing and Im gonna keep playing this game for awhile.

This game is really fun. Ive played for about an hour nonstop already after downloading. We dont have any major complaints. The only thing Id like to see added is a sandbox mode, where you start from 2-3 destinations and have to expand the lines nationwide or even worldwide.

Had fun on several levels, but the game needs more guides on how to optimize on later levels. Halfway through the US world, Im struggling to get a star or two. Forget three stars. Maybe Im just dense.

We like this game but it has serious bugs/flaws, most notably in how it handles fixed/unchangeable routes. One issue is that these routes use up a slot at the airport on each end even if the airport on the other end is shut down this totally screws the player in Megaregions where an airport shut down makes the entire region inaccessible and leaves the player with literally no way to continue after playing 10-15 levels. In Route 66, its impossible to keep all drawn routes (one of the goals) once the fixed routes appear in Level 3even if you have kept all drawn routes up to that point, the circle will immediately go gray as if you havent. Another basic gripe is that airport passenger numbers cant be seen when the map is zoomed out, which makes larger maps really annoying to play since you have to pan and scroll repeatedly to see where the focus cities should be.

This is an excellent game that is a great balance of strategy and problem-solving. Its challenges change from round to round keeping it fresh; Ive been playing it every day and enjoying each new level. Fantastic work.

Excellent game worth dealing with the flaws. The expansion pack was worth it too. However: Game crashes and has difficulty after switching briefly to other apps Some of the final levels are incomplete and cannot be played. A bit of a disappointment after working up to them.

We never write a full-fledged review for an app. This game, however, made us come back to the App Store just to write this review. The App Store has started getting polluted with cheap and boring apps. Its a long time until you actually see a good app. This app is that one app! It combines an innovative idea with a brilliant User Interface and Experience and is truly one of the best games and most interesting games we have played in a long long time! Great fun.

This is a cool game. Just got it recently. The only thing Im having trouble with is how to understand the demand patterns between cities and how that affects the middle airports on the route to the final destination.

Ive enjoyed playing the game over the last week and Ive already knocked out a bunch of levels. Id like to recommend adding a national scoreboard like it is but with all stars from all maps combined. So the stars that you get from USA map would add together with your Europe map stars. Secondly, Id really like to see a graphics upgrade. We get tired of staring at the blue world the whole time. Other than that, very fun game that requires a lot of thinking skills.

Fun game, but please use real airport codes.

This is a game that is well worth your time. Our suggestion for the developers would to play around with a more sophisticated game with a more in-depth economy and decision making. It would be fantastic.

We really enjoy this game, we can play this forever and when we get bored, this is the game we would play. Good game.

Just downloaded. We are very disappointed that you have to buy other countries.

There are some things that definitely need to be changed and fixed. A lot of these suggestions are somewhat nitpicky but when you consider all of them together, it really adds up and makes playing somewhat tedious. The good: The game is very easy to learn and generally doesnt get boring because of the situations introduced throughout the game. Aside from anything mentioned below, the game UI is well designed and doesnt look clunky for all of the options it provides. The bad: If you are playing with Disconnect Closed Routes on, you better hope you beat levels with closures (which make up a solid amount of all the levels) first try. Otherwise the level doesnt let you start a new game when you try and puts you in an infinite loop of popups which doesnt end until you turn off the setting. Additionally, the lack of consideration for the users experience is somewhat infuriating. We cant express how many times we have pressed the button after completing a level thinking it would take us to the next level, only to be put back into the level we just finished. We understand that some people may want to get all of the goals in a level before moving on, but an option to go to the next level on the complete screen would be a lot better than having to navigate back to the main menu, clicking into the next levels screen, and then finally entering the level. We are also fairly certain that a complete screen doesnt exist, but rather it just brings you back to the current level screen. Some UIs are completely unnecessary too. The confirmation screen for the Disconnect All Routes option is just an absolute annoyance. For context, to get to the screen, you have to pause the game if it is running, then swipe down on a bar at the top of the screen, and then click the Disconnect All Routes button and then click another confirmation button. Another nuisance is that after confirming, it doesnt even bring you back to the game screen, so you have to swipe down again. We dont think anyone who disconnects all routes would then proceed to quit the game. Finally, the UI design is very inconsistent throughout the game. Some popups (such as the ones that put you in an infinite loop) arent custom while other ones (such as the Disconnect All Routes confirmation) are. This doesnt bug us that much, but its a shame that the time wasnt taken to smooth it out. On the topic of arrows, all of the buttons for exiting a menu or going back to a previous screen are in the top left corner, except the leaderboards screen which has it in the top right. The levels also dont unlock in order and we couldnt find any explanation as to why. Currently we have every level up to 28 unlocked but not 17 or 20. 16 and 26-28 are also unlocked for us to play despite not beating the previous levels. A flow chart-esque main menu would be more intuitive, or just making the levels unlock in order would work too. We get that this is a solo developed free game, and its honestly pretty impressive that youve managed to make a game better than most other free games and even some paid games, but there are definitely some areas of improvement. :).

OptiFlight is good enough, but we can be better someday and also we would like the game developers to develop more things and also fun and also fun multiplayer competitions.

Thank you for such a beautifully made simple game. One suggestion though, we would love an icloud save functionality, so we can play it on our iPad.

Its a great game that is fun to play and challenge yourself although we think it would benefit from more in depth and advanced tutorials that help you get better at the game. For us some of the later levels are extremely difficult and can be very frustrating.

The following levels are really hard and need some fixing pls (Winter, Summer,Inland, seismic,Coastal,Blues Highway,Standing rock and Apollo pls and we rate you five because the game is really fun and can you make it easier to unlock levels thank you we recommend this to others.

This is a really good game and will recommend this to anyone who is wanting to pass the time.

Its so simple yet so good and does a good job as a simple game.

Boy was we wrong thinking this game was surface level and lacking in content. FAR from it. Hats off to the developers theyve worked hard on this great game.

We were super excited when we saw this game. Right after we started playing we decided to buy the expansion to see if we could just do free play. Sadly thats not what happened. We still like the game, we just think you should allow people to do the free play whenever they want.

The game looks fantastic but we cant seem to get past the Keep All Drawn Routes Bug in the 2nd Level even though we completed every challenge in the way it wanted.
