Community Insight:

Dont go just dont feel the same on a switch or ps4 and Xbox because the screen controller more suited for the screen on the iPhone we dont like the other pinball app they are more laggy less tables more money wouldnt even touch them so if you guys go Im done with pinball until we get a virtual pinball arcade cabinets.

Although it technically works on iPhone X, XS, and 11/Pro, the dumb and troublesome notch at the top of the screen covers half of the pinball machines video display. This makes it hard or impossible to play the games video modes or to even enter your name for a high score. The controls at the bottom of the screen (like ball launch) dont work well with the new swipe up system in new iPhones without a home button. Half the time we go to launch the ball the app acts like Im trying to switch apps and goes back to the menu, causing an annoying interruption to gameplay several times per game. Also, the real control problem with Pinball on a phone is there really is no good way to nudge the table. This is intuitive on a real table because you are actually holding the table with your fingers on the buttons. On a phone you have to move your fingers to the top of the screen and swipe. It is a long process that you will not be able to do fast enough which will ruin your game as the balls fly down the drains. Furthermore, Apply is constantly changing the screen sizes. The iPhone 11 Pro is dimensionally skinnier than the original iPhones. The game has not been modified to compensate so the sides of the table are cutoff. On some games this can include the drains in certain views. If you cant see the drains, you cant nudge the table in an effort to save your ball. But as we already discussed, the whole nudge feature is flawed anyways. Another downer is Pinball Arcade used to have the rights for many other pinball machine manufacturers but they lost these rights to Zen pinball. So Pinball Arcade no longer sells the best virtual machines. Thankfully, we bought them all before they lost the rights and PA still supports playing them and even redownloading them onto a new device. Other than that, this is by far our favorite game and pinball platform on iOS. It just needs updated for newer phones.

This is a great pinball game for iOS, but recently we upgraded to an iPhone 11 Max and the animated backboard screens are blocked partially at the top of the screen. Hopefully the developer will fix this issue.

We have this application on our PS4 as well and just adore it. However the iOS version (at least for us) seems to slow down to a snails pace seemingly at random. Ive yet to find a solution to this as sometimes closing and reopening the app works, sometimes it doesnt. Occasionally Ill be playing and Ill get a text. When this happens the game just slows way down. We tried updating the app and the tables but it says its all up to date. Very fun app as we really dig us some pinball and love all of these tables. This is just a tad frustrating.

Used to be such a great app… Now on IPad all balls are pretty much impossible to see…. PLEASE FIX.

Great simulations, great games, terrible interface, company REALLY slow to respond to issues. Slow as in YEARS. This app still doesnt support the iPhone X, XR, XS Max or any of the iPhone 11s. It puts critical interface elements at the top of the screen cut off by the notch and others cut off by the bottom of the display (display scaled wrong) The iPhone X was introduced over two years ago. Were still waiting.

Pinball Arcade was amazing, youd get to buy new tables ever few months and there was always something awesome to play. Now, there hasnt been anything new table wise in close to a year and old bugs havent been fixed in about that long. Ive spent several hundred dollars on tables across all systems (iOS, switch, Xbox 360 and steam), Im starting to worry that they might shut down the ability to download those tables.

Once again, the UI for this game is completely broken on iPhone X and iPhone 11 devices (at least). Cant switch the game to landscape mode and cant even start the games at all on the iPhone 11. Ive been a long-time fan of this app, but Im afraid its come time to retire it for something better. The developers just dont seem very interested in fixing these problems, it seems. This game has been broken for us ever since we first got an iPhone X. We now have an iPhone 11, and its still broken. Cant recommend this one anymore, Im afraid.

We just purchased a new iPad Pro. We were able to load our owned games, but restoring high scores (either local or remote) does nothing. How do we get these back.

We bought several table packs. With our new iPad, it says it restores our purchases, but only 3 of 39 work. Im not paying twice.

Crashes frequently on the iPhone 7 running latest version on this game and running iOS 12.4.1.

Im trying to play bride of pinbot and its on neither…but your Facebook says it is.

We love the physics and the realistic play in these games. Best iOS game ever.

It is sad that they lost the licenses for many tables and new customers cant buy many, but for those of us who did, the developer continues to make sure the app and tables work great…Im sure their excellence will be rewarded in what ever comes next.

Today we opened up the app to play the AC/DC game which we purchased quite a while ago. It would not complete downloading. We understand removing free games when a license expires but we paid for this! We really would like to hear the response of Pinball Arcade as to how they justify this when what instead on the website indicates that if we paid for a table it is ours permanently. Answer please. We love the graphics and the feel of the games. We appreciate the history given about each game including the creation dates. However we cant give it five stars because a feature we paid extra for now no longer works. There is a set of special balls that were introduced years ago for an additional cost. These include an eight ball, smiley face, two star trek deigns, an eyeball and several brightly colored ones. Since deleting then reinstalling the app the balls are still there but their graphics have all but vanished. They are simply chrome pinball with a faint design available. They stink. If they were free we couldnt complain but since we did purchase them we would really like them returned in full detail as they exist on our other versions of the game. Please fix and update.

Meanwhile the only thing the update description has on iOS is AC/DC table removed from sale. Guess it should have said just tables removed while you werent looking. Unreal how far this app has fallen.

Ive bought 51 tables paid for since release. Not had too many issues. Did experience the crash running on an iPhone XS Max, but that was resolved in a few days. Otherwise there is no better simulator for all these historical pinball machines. Still one of our all time favorite games. We play it on iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets. We even play Williams and Gottlieb versions on our PSP 3000. Really enjoy being able to play these tables. Hopefully the app will continue to work.

It immediately crashes after the June 12 update. Update: crashes fixed June 14! Thank you.

There is only one thing about this game that makes us crazy, and it seems to happen often: we get 3-4 tables into a challenge, get a great game going (e.g., extra ball lit, 35+M on Medieval Madness) – and our screen goes black and Im kicked out of the app. Heart-wrenching; please fix. (iPhone 6+, iOS 12.3.1).

Better testing needed before release – development team.

The latest update crashes at launch on iPhone X. Rebooting and reinstalling does not correct the issue. Still works fine on our iPad Air 2.

Everything was good until this update. Wont launch on iPhone X.

Wont open after update…just crashes out to iOS home screen.

Most telling stats – so few updates that people dont even bother to leave reviews. No changes. No new tables. No fixes for the UI issues that have broken. These guys got more of our money than any other game. Im glad we bought the tables we did, but watching this slow death is excruciating.

Once again, the game is unplayable after the most recent update.

In a display of poor management, no quality control and so much more. This latest update will not even run. Screen goes blank.

The latest update renders the app useless. Please fix.

The app is crashing once we click on the game. Please fix.

Great and exciting game but a bunch of legacy tables just got taken and all of our achievements are gone. Can somebody tell us what happened.

We started our table collection with this game many years ago. There is no doubt that this is an incredible collection of simulated, actual historic pinball machines. The main problem with this app has always been its front end user interface. It got so bad at one point we deleted a hundred dollars worth of iaps and quit playing this game all together. We just decided after a year or so now to check back and give it another try. Im very happy to see that the UI has been given enough improvement that at least the actual game has become playable again. (Thank you so much for finally allowing us to mute the main menu theme music!!) Its a real shame they lost their Williams license. Thank god we had purchased all the Williams tables before they removed them from the store. And thank you so much, developers, for keeping them available to re-download for those of us that purchased them! (If only that ownership could be transferred to other platforms, like the PS4!) It is nice to see that they have recreated some really good tables from the companies that they still have licenses with. And that there are some newer, very modern tables being brought into the collection. Just sank nearly another $80 into iaps, rounding out all the new table packs we had missed the last couple years, and upgraded to several Pro tables. (we wish there had been a price to complete the packs, as opposed to paying full price for all the packs which already contained tables we already owned.) All that said, the UI could still really use some improvement. It still has a 1990s PC, low budget clunkiness to it. On our 12.9 inch 2nd gen iPad Pro, there are times when the text on the menu buttons and on the leaderboards is clearly not formatted correctly, and is unreadable. (our screen zoom in iOS settings is at the normal default, btw.) Also, the organization of the tables, HoF boards and Table Goals could be better. Like, maybe add the stars for table goals on each actual table icon so we dont have to open each table to see how many goals we have done. And add a way to sort HoF by score. And maybe add a search field on the main table page (for those of us with 80 tables!) Just some ideas. Thanks, devs, for continuing to improve and develop this outstanding game.

We used to not mind this sim thanks to the authentic WMS tables. But we can't believe after not renewing the license they let Zen Studios come in and buy them up. We're now looking forward to trying Zen's new physics engine on the Williams tables.

We dont know whats going on but Im getting a message on all our devices saying that this games server is invalid and accessing it may comprise our Personal information because the server may be acting like yours but its not! Whats going on.

Everytime we opent the app it tells us the certificate is not valid and the app maybe going to another website not the one it is suppose to. Not secure. DONT BUY IT.

Please developer let us play the tables Ive PAID for.

We bought the Stern tables. Now they are in PA, but it dossnt see purchase history and they no longer support SPA. Thanks for stealing $40 and doing nothing like you always do. FOAD xxxooo! Save your money and get Zen Pinaball its a lot better.

Excellent app. Brings back memories. Bring on Pinbot. Prices are reasonable. Saves us quarters. Hope they will add Harlem Globetrotters soon.

We love the game but we keep getting messages which say that we may be accessing a server pretending to be Farsight and our personal data could be at risk.

We downloaded the original Pinball Arcade years ago just for the Taxi game. We played the real Taxi pinball machine all the time back in high school, and it was awesome to be able to play it anywhere on mobile now. Really brought back memories. However, we just installed on a new iPad and logged in, and not only is the Taxi machine not listed under our owned tables, it appears to be gone altogether. We went ahead and paid for Pinball Arcade Plus, thinking maybe it was necessary, but Taxi still isn't there. So our only reason for playing this game is gone, and we have no way to play our favorite machine anymore. Very disappointing.

We hope the developers keep this app rolling forever, it really should be tied to a world pinball museum with benefactors donating the cost of licenses so we can play every table ever created. They do an amazing job of getting the tables authentically reproduced for iPad and phone on our iPad Pro its surreal and fun playing so many of our favorite tables. It is sad that they lost the licenses for many tables and new customers cant buy as many as we did when this started but for everyone who loves pinball, the developer continues to make sure the app and tables work great…Im sure their excellence will be rewarded in what ever comes next.

All our tables are back & work fine. Sadly though it seems like they arent putting out tables like they were before. Original review: So we go to play today after being away for awhile to discover that around 20 tables we paid good money for have been removed. We paid for them. Thats absurd. You should be refunding the money. You might have lost licensing to sell more but that shouldnt mean we get ripped off. No matter how many times we try to restore purchases they dont come back. We bought individual tables and season passes to support this game and now the tables we like the most arent there. This is unacceptable.

This app stopped working for a while but the developer seems to be back, and all the pinball tables we bought years ago are back and running great. Thank you for keeping this app up to date, its great fun and we like the clear visual style you chose for the art, rather than getting fancy with shadows and lighting like the other guys.

Two updates in recent weeks. Im listening. Still a bit buggy switching to landscape and the aspect ratio is off on newer iphones. But yeah still best looking, best physics, best pinball library around. Youre the best. Hopefully you can get the Williams license back.

Can you please add support so that the score can be seen on iPhones with the Dynamic Island? It cant be removed from the screen. Thanks.

Ive been a supporter of Pinball Arcade ever since the Twilight Zone Kickstarter in 2012, and we really love playing this game. Unfortunately, the support specifically for iPhone 15 models (and, presumably, future iPhone models) is lacking. Due to the switch from a camera in bezel to the Dynamic Island, the screen resolution has changed. Now the game screen is noticeably stretched, and the dot matrix display on tables like Twilight Zone and Star Trek: TNG is all be cover up by the Dynamic Island. Can you please update the app to support the new displays so we can continue to enjoy these pinball tables on the go.

Very happy to see Farsight Studios is updating this app. Big fan, hopefully we will see more in the near future. Would love to see a version of PBA bowling brought to mobile.

We tried to download our purchased games, but ran into a problem with the AC/DC and Ghostbusters boards. The downloads just keep looping and nothing completes. Other game boards are fine though. Server issue? License issue.

This last update fixed our issue with our Star Trek table showing as not purchased. The menu system looks a bit better, but the tables are still stretched on the iPhone 14 and the dead oval at the top of the screen still covers all the DMDs. Will definitely put this back to 5 stars if that gets fixed.

So Im a younger person who never was there in the heyday of pinball when it first came out, Im a video game kid but our favorite pinball game we would play all day if we could was The Black Knight. Sadly we had to move away from the place with it so when we saw this place supposedly had the black knight we wanted to get it. Sadly not only does it cost money when you have to buy most of the pinball machines via a in app purchase but they got rid of a bunch of games including the black knight. So now Im out a buck and disappointed.

We have been waiting for this release for a while now. It did not disappoint. The physics are the best out there when compared to real tables. This coming from someone who owns 3 tables and plays real pinball every day. Sure we have to wait a month for GC implementation, which is much needed. However, we're more than thrilled we can play it now. Edit: The farsight team has basically abandoned this app. If any iOS developer, please fix the notch support. Heck, we could do it in 10 minutes.

Please update for later devices and iOS. Does not work on our 14 with 16.1.1. The screen should not go past the notch and be fitted appropriately, the game works but barely and the screen is too long and the notch covers the score. Thank you guys for trying in the first place.
