Quento – Puzzle Game Review
![]()
Quento is a Puzzle/Education game from Q42, first launched in 7th January 2013.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 9+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Quento Stand Out
Quento is a delightful little math puzzler without ads that is fun for kids and adults. Over the past 8 years it has been played all over the world by children, parents, students, teachers and basically anyone during commutes, in schools, on camp sites, during lunch breaks, at offices and in bed before going to sleep.
Enjoy endless rounds of quick play, a unique daily challenge, different sets of numbers and a zen mode. And with the special "Quento for Schools" mode, students can play in class, in smaller groups or engage individual challenges.
Here's what the media said:
Cult of Mac: "Quento is a delight. It’s different, it’s challenging, it’s got something to offer for kids learning math in school and for adults who want to give their brains a workout. Fantastic."
iMore: "Quento is an excellent math puzzle game for all ages. Both young kids and experienced mathematicians will enjoy it."
AndrCentral: "Look, I'm not a math guy. So what am I doing playing a game all morning that involves adding and subtracting? Moreover, why am I still playing it now? For the life of me, I don't know. But there's something about Quento that keeps me coming back."
How does it work? Simple! Quento gives you the solution to a sum and you'll have to do the math. To play, just swipe from a number to a + or – and to another number again. Stars are earned when the sum adds up to the challenge above and before you know it you've progressed a round!
Quento comes without ads, and the free version truly offers more than enough challenges to make it a perfect match for kids and students to use at schools. There is an optional single in-app purchase that unlocks the toughest challenges and more number sets for those that want to work out even more.
This way we hoped to offer more than enough for everyone to enjoy!
This Puzzle game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Community Insight:
Not our fav 42 game, but nice. We recommend oh h1 and 0h no much more.
Picked up this game as a learning tool for our child who we homeschool. We were tasked with selecting 4 numbers to make 7. We used the operators: 7+1-4+3. It said it was incorrect. Our child became confused. Overall bad experience.
We love this app, and so does our son. He comes and asks us if we can play "Quento". Here he practices math without realizing he's doing it! And he's getting better.
Hi! We've had this app for a long time (going on 6+ years), so we were excited to see the update! Anyway, we just got to Round 1000 and the text at the top doesn't fit in one line, so it wraps and takes two lines. However, this shifts the entire UI below it down, so the buttons on the bottom (hint, settings, number pool, anddaily puzzle) are only halfway onscreen. Nothing major, just a small bug in the UI. Keep up the good work.
Im so glad to see this game updated for iOS 11. This is one of our favorite distraction games for at the bar or in the elevator etc. We love playing it with a friend on a night out in those clubs where its too loud to talk to each other; Just hold the phone between each other and see who can solve it faster! Really just a great idle game that you can put down and come back to at any time because its not time based, much like solitaire. Its great for when you need to keep your hands busy or want a simple distraction at the table. People often ask us what it is and it only takes a second to teach them how to play. Can be a good ice breaker that way too.
We love love love this game, Ive honestly had it on all of our iPhones since 2013 and Im sad to see its not for iOS 11, Id really love to be able to have it on our phone.
(Disclaimer: we have never written a review for anything until now) we've been playing this game for at least 4 years now and we don't plan on stopping. It's simple yet fun and we haven't managed to get tired of it yet. The only thing that gets in our way is no new update!! Even if it's just a simple one so it can stay running on newer iphones, you guys should do it! Maybe add some multiplication/division or a speed round with a timer? Just a couple ideas because we would really like to keep this game on our phone for many years to come.
Whenever you feel you need to do little math operations play this game :).
A good fun, mind working game. We would love if division and multiplication was added to the purchased game.
The game starts out easy with one given number, you must find this number with the amount of numbers given and the order in which they are presented. The game changes once you complete the given numbers. The numbers in which you use to make the specified number (by adding or subtracting your given numbers and there placement) increases one by one for instance you must make the number 14 by adding and subtracting the numbers presented. Overall the game is really fun and a great game to play when waiting around! But also we must make you all aware! This game is addicting! The game is amazing.
The game is enjoyable and challanging.
The same could be said of Numolition. Cant you please update your apps to work with iOS 11? The 64 bit requirement surely didnt come as a surprise. As much as we like your games, Im very disappointed that you have some really terrific ones which you are unwilling to update. Update Quento and we will be back to add two more stars to this review. Please and thanks.
This game takes UI to a whole new low when it comes to "simplicity". There are only a few ways to interact with the game and none of them give you more info. Simplistic UI is great, but not to this level. For example: how do we unlock the rest of the game? You click on the locks – Perfect! How much is it to unlock it? You don't know until you put in your password and already get charged. Example two: how many levels are there? Who knows. You finish puzzles and it moves on as a user we have no idea how big the game is, or how to go back levels, etc. In short, find someone that isn't a UI minimalist to fix your game.
Too simplistic with combining only 2 or 3 numbers to arrive at a specific number. Combining 4 or more numbers would make this app more interesting but you'd have to pay for it. Not for us any more. Deleted today.
We're not sure where the reviews stating, "workout your brain" are coming from, because this app but our brain to sleep. The game is insanely boring with virtually not a challenge to be found. The game only comes with the opportunity to find equations of 2 and 3 numbers, which gets very old (and boring), very quickly. If you want to actually be challenged with 4 or 5 numbers, you will need to pay with an IAP. Chances are you will be much too bored to even want to buy those. (we know we were). Trust us, if you like numbers and number challenges, there are WAY better games out there to choose from.
Not all that fun for a numbers game.
Quento does its job well: the puzzles are fast and the gestures make it fun. This is the right amount of addicting.
Bought this as a brain game to play on long flights between books and during airport layovers. It was PERFECT for this. We find ourselves playing it often and we love the mental workout.
Love the game. Simple premise and good execution. Recommend.
Such a simple design, but such a thoughtful app. When you get to 3 numbers and higher, it really makes you think. This is a great challenge for students.
Single digit addition and subtraction. Every morning improve our basic math skills and do a "How's our brain working" check. ;).
We LOVE this game! It keeps us on our mental toes.
It's really great it really exercises our brain! But it would be nice if multiplication and division was added :D.
We just got an IPad and this was one of the few games we have on it. We admit to playing it for several days straight over coffee. Then, get frustrated put it down and go "oh it's 6+2-2" and get right back into it. It's tragic it's addicting and all kinds of fun.
Our only complaint is that after playing nearly 400 levels, it's become much less challenging.
We just made to level 42 and had some awesome nostalgia.
We can't believe it increased our IQ tremendously.
Really LIKE this game!!! BUNCHES.
This game is a great time killer and addictive.
We love this game, it's done well. One thing, it would be good if you add mute button. Thanks.
We would have shaded all of them! This app is a GREAT way to practice math and thinking, while having fun at the same time!!!!! We love this game, and it'd a must have. GET IT.
Can't stop playing. Works your brain and is fun at the same time.
Wish there was a volume/mute button.
Rules are kind of weird at first but easy and fun to play.
We're so tired of these games with all the hidden costs. This is a great math game, and we would buy the full version for a reasonable cost. But instead it's set up to "unlock" the rest of the levels within the game and the price is not listed anywhere in the game. Feels shady.
Was supposed to get the full version through App Gratis, but when we opened it it will not let us play pass level 2 without paying for additional levels!!! Seemed like a good game, but since we will delete it now, ill never know.
This game has exposed some issues with basic addition and subtraction.
We're sick and tired of all the word games with friends, enemies, our dog. This is a breath of fresh air. Simple idea, simple but tasteful graphics, still exercises our brain. Very slick idea sneaking the tutorial in there and the IAP to unlock the full version is good as well, get us hooked and let us buy the whole thing. If you're looking for something that will exercise your brain and tired of letters this is worth a try. Probably also great for kids learning math.
5 numbers is much easier than 3 and 4 numbers. You can just calculate which 2 numbers to minus. We think this mode should move to the position next to 2 numbers mode.
The interface isn't as responsive as we would have expected. For instance, if you touch one of the buttons, it won't necessarily register completely. The button will flicker, but then you will have to tap the button again. Overall the game play is fun. We wish there was a way to turn off sounds for the app within the app. As of now, you will have to mute your phone. The game is not hard and can make you think every now and then.
If the only way to silence the sound on an app is to mute the phone entirely, it gets deleted. Might have been fun to play, but without an option to stop the annoying sounds, it was deleted almost immediately.
Thanks for the quick response sending out an update to fix the sound. Now we can lower the volume or turn it off when we want to. Quentin is fun and addictive.
A good way to stimulate the brain when you've got some time to kill. Paid for the full version and it is worth it. We wish there was a way to turn off the sounds or make the app respect the ring/silent switch. Otherwise, perfect.
Need to be able to turn off sounds and play music while in. Would be 5 stars if you added those.
Quento would get more stars if we could turn the sound off and listen to music while we play the game. It's a nice challenging game we can play when we want to relax. Not too easy, but not too involved either.
