A Glimpse into Recreated ZX Spectrum
This is the official companion app to the Recreated ZX Spectrum – the only authorised, full-size recreation of the 1980s personal computer… the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
The three most significant ZX Spectrum games of all, ‘Chuckie Egg’, Jet Set Willy’ and ‘Manic Miner’ … are exclusive to the Recreated ZX Spectrum.
At launch, this Recreated ZX Spectrum companion app (and the online web app – which is available at RecreatedZXSpectrum.com) will include, ‘Chuckie Egg’, ‘Sinclair BASIC’ (so that owners can learn to and write computer programs with the recreated device) and a huge game bundle. More games and applications will be available with each update of the apps (and the online web app).
Yet more games and applications will be available from 3rd-party vendors. A list of games and applications for the recreated device can be found at RecreatedZXSpectrum.com The list will be kept under review and will continue to be revised, as new games and applications become available, well in to the future. Games and applications from 3rd-party vendors can also be found by searching the App Store, using the search terms "Recreated ZX Spectrum".
This app can also be used without the Recreated ZX Spectrum … using touch screen controls, (when doing so be sure to change ‘original game controls’ to ‘iDaptive game controls’ within the app) … and includes information about the recreated device, including details of from where it may be purchased.

When using the Recreated ZX Spectrum with the online web app (for Macs and PCs) ALL OF THE INCLUDED GAMES AND APPLICATIONS ARE FREE OF CHARGE. This is because the Recreated ZX Spectrum online web app can only be used with the recreated device.

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.
- Increased the number of Load / Save slots for games and programs from 4 to 20.
- Added a feature enabling Load / Save slots to be individually named, for improved identification.
- Added a News page feature to the home screen. (Information about what’s included in future updates of the app(s) will appear here first.)
- Consolidated the previously existing home screen features.

This is a great app, and we love it because now we can play the original classic version of EDGEs Bobby Bearing on our iPhone! Only costs another 99c to but it once you download this app. And now EDGE has released Bobby Bearing 2 on the AppStore! That game is AMAZING! Maybe the best game on sale on the AppStore right now.
Although we may come from America, we love the ZX Spectrum, with all its games, music, and many more. However, the only app on the App Store for the computer was Spectaculator, but on that, you have to buy, buy, buy. That is, until we found this app. And, it’s from Elite Systems of all people! There was a collection of games that were free (except for Maniac Miner and Jet Set Willy), and another collection, but you have to buy them, and thank god the prices for all the games you have to buy are reasonable. For the free games, there are some gems (i.e. Beyond the Ice Palace). We won’t explain more, as this review is long enough, but it’s a must buy for fans for the black beauty.
We were delighted to see that our favorite Speccy games were on the App Store. The prices are very reasonable, and the ports are well done. You can save your game at any point and there are 2 different control schemes. We like the Adaptive ones the best but the keyboard is great for nostalgia. We only have a few problems. For one, we really wish you used the music from the Atari 800 port of Jet Set Willy. It’s really catchy and way better than the primitive bleeps and bloops of the Speccy port. We also really wish Jet Set Willy 2 was here, the last game in the Miner Willy series, since you have the first 2 games. As for other games I’d include: Dizzy Invasion of The Zombie Monsters Bubble Bobble Out Run Monty Mole Sentinel.
