Ive been playing this since we were in highschool and now Im a junior in college. Event stories are fire, gacha is actually good, and most of all the main stories are so well written. Theres a man for everyone.
Im enjoying playing its calm cliche and cute and the gameplay is not money hungry. This game was made with love.

This game is so fun and cute but they lost all our account information with the update so be careful purchasing stuff.

We spend a lot of money in this app. With a new system maintenance, we were quite upset when the app turned on and would not load the game. The buttons are grey. You cannot use them. If the game loads at all, you have to go backwards to move forwards repeatedly. We believe that a paying customer should get an app that works properly. Dont get us wrong. We love the game. What we do not like is when serious errors like this repeatedly occur. It makes us feel taken advantage of. If the app works properly, we would be willing to change our review.
Fix the problem is still the same thing even trying on a other devices had happen on our iphone and even our apple pad we have five love passes but doesn't let us continue even on our apple pad same problem we had try too reload it but doesn't change the issue still not letting us to continue reading even un downloading the app and getting it back still the same thing so fix it if you can.
The game is lagging when we finished the first part of the story we cant start the second part the continue your story button is not working.
As fun as this otome game is, we really wish content wasnt made based on popularity. As captivating as the game is, if you favor more of the underrated LIs, lovers last standing will crush you. Especially if you favor the Song of Shadow LIs. Hoards of content will constantly be made for popular LIs and if you like the underrated LIs, good luck because at that point youre just hanging onto scraps and againIf your favorite is a Song of Shadow LI? At that point you might as well make your own content because its dry in this game. Drier than the Sahara Dessert. Literally this game will go on for months releasing radiance story events and no Ninja events. Revived radiance story events are prioritized over new ninja events. The only ninja content being less than scraps are birthday stories and it will cost you your money. So basically youre paying for what are only for snippets of content (mind you birthdays are once a year).
Im mixed on a few things, but overall we LOVE the storyline, how its told, how many free tickets you get at the start, and the characters, our issues are such as when you reach the saoto (?) village part 1 of the story it costs 1 ticket for one sentence or two at a time. Second issue we have is that the purchasing aspects of the game have not worked for us – we are currently trying to resolve the issue. Biggest downside is despite all of the side quests, you only get enough tickets per day to last 10-20mins if you are taking the story slowly.
We really like this game and play it every day. We usually lose interest in phone games but Ive been playing it for over a year now and am still very invested in it. Everything about it is cute and the stories are well written and interesting. We spend money on in-app purchases but it isnt necessary to play. There is a good community around SLBP and a Facebook page for fans. Its nice to connect with other players and help each other out. This game is definitely worth trying out.
Im really in love with this game! From the characters stories to the cute decorations and the events shown. Im a huge Lord Shingen fan and his story is so amazing!!! This deserves the full 5/5 stars for every little aspect of the game. Earning pearls is kinda hard but what game would be fun if you just get everything very fast. :).
We were wondering if we could select a different character other than the ones that are provided? Because we kinda like Toramatsu (we think thats how you spell his name) and we were wondering if there was anyway to get him? We would really appreciate it.

Been playing since 2017, and Im so happy with all the updates, especially how all the samurais routes are getting voiced. Just completed Yukimuras main route again which is voiced, and we loved every second! The special events are great too! Def recommended.
Oh man. This game… When our sister got us reluctantly into it well over a year ago, we were dubious… And Ive happily played it every day since with no signs of stopping. No other game- heck no other activity has kept a hold on us like this one. In other words, five stars. PS- we really dont get the people who complain about it being a money pit or stingy with rewards. It CAN be a money pit if you insist on having everything or dont gather and spend wisely- but compared to other otome apps Ive played, its by far one of the most generous ones, and technically you would never have to spend a dime on it if you didnt want to.
This game is so much fun! We main stories are really well written and there are story event twice a month so you never run out of stories to read. Be aware you will fall in love with these 2d guys . Our fave is ieyasu .. At first you won't be able to stand him, but by the end you are in love . Shingen story is wonderful and sexy, but will make you cry . Take a chance and love a samurai :).
This game could be fun, Im writing a review first and then playing the game. But we wish we could choose a guy and play the game instead of always playing as a girl main character. Im sure we can fun have, no doubt about that but we still would like to play as a guy and interact with the other male characters on this game. But we will deeply enjoy this game to the fullest.
Great game and all but we think there should be an option to be a guy or be gender neutral. Things like that are more inclusive and will attract more buyers. The characters and art are nice but we suppose this is our only complaint.
Im officially done with this game. We were one of the first to download the game when it first came out (or rather, participated in the pre-release through other voltage games). But Im officially done. We just cant get over how much time and money we actually wasted on this game, when it is a total ripoff. There are a list of issues we have, such as the lack of notifications when our stamina is recovered, or how much you need pearls when theyre so hard to come by without coughing up cash. It drains us, and missing a deadline for some extra prize or whatever honestly discourages us from even trying anymore. Its been a fun run, Voltage, but we have to say bye now. :/.
The look is a bit simple but we liked it. Never got to actually see any gameplay other than the nice video but we've tried multiple wifi zones all full bars and it just gives us an error message after trying to load.
Ive been on and off with this game for a while…and…Ive never felt so frustrated in playing a game – a game that tempts you with all its amazing animation/artwork (& concept) by robbing you out your money! Want to live stress free – Dont invest in this game! Youre better off watching the anime version of this game than wasting your money and sanity in playing. The cons outweighs the pros for us. Im officially done investing in these type of games! Its our fault, and we regret wasting our money & time! We hate this game.
Not only does it take forever to get thru a story without spending money, you dont actually get to choose your path. No matter what you pick it will end up the same way. We got so fed up wanting the character to go down a certain path only to be redirected in a way of making the character just look pathetic and stupid. Whoever wrote the characters has a very poor view point of how women should be treated.
This game is our favorite. Period. It is the best combination of touching and believable stories, great art work and the prices one needs to invest. Seriously, that whole game can be played without even a penny to pay – if you dont expect to be the highest in the rankings or make an impressive collection of Portraits and items. Personally, we pay money in this game – so the game can go on, if the writers and developers get paid. It is strange to read the reviews with complaints about why do we need to pay, the game is free. The ppl working in Voltage need to make their salary somehow, otherwise they wont work to bring you games! But for those on the budget there is always a choice to play totally for free – The pearls are falling there and there all the time (visits, events, lottery, promotion, etc). There is a ton of recommendations and free walkthroughs online, since the Voltage-fan community is enormous. That said, this is up to you to learn how to play and enjoy the game. The stories are written professionally. They are very engaging and most of them are long lasting in the memory. Most of the stories bring all the possible emotions from you, and some endings are crushingly sad. What we find really amazing, is the historical truth the writers are sticking to, and that is rare in such games. The similar samurai game, IkemenSengoku from Cybrid, doesnt have the atmosphere of the warring states period, mainly describing the girl in company with pretty guys in armor. Being the history addict, we find the Voltage stories more accurate and stimulating for future reading and learning the history of feudal Japan. We were in Japan 4 times since starting this game, just to pay our respects to Yukimura, Masamune, Hideyoshi and Mitsuhide. Call it an inspiration. We also love the events – most of the event stories are pure fun to read, and they yield lots of goodies for your further playing. The Ninja project was great, with mature writing and solid stories. Im a bit sad to see this project is getting less and less momentum. We hope you dont abandon it completely. We only wish the C is not so much in her kitchen again and again, and the horses are not called she or mare – mares are not suitable in the army, you know. Please, Voltage! Still, you bring us the best game which we want to play for more years to come.

Its good. We like the new renditions from the old samurai ballad. We would love to play that one again. We know the mission stuff can get tedious but we hope it wont become outright impossible.
The story missions is what making us delete this app. All we wanted was to have a good storyline and just continuing with the story but the story missions is stopping us from enjoying the story. All we want to do is go straight to the storyline and maybe finish a story and read another one but before we can even finish one, Im going to delete the app for this pacific reason.
We dont know whats going on with the game, we just downloaded it and its not loading at all. We know its not our phone because we got this brand new yesterday. If we could get some help with it, that would be cool.

This game is fun, its very entertaining and we find ourselves invested into the stories! The only issue that we dont see anyone pointing out is how hard it is to navigate through the game itself, im always caught in a loading screen and takes us straight to an error sign. If you have the patience to go through that, go for it! Cool game overall.
Ive been playing SLB for over 3 years now! Pearls are easy to come by if you play the game and visit friends daily. And one pearl does a lot in game! We dont feel like you need to spend any money to get the full experience of Samurai Love Ballad(but god knows we spend anyways LOL) we really love the game. So many characters to choose from as well. Thank you Voltage for another AWESOME otome.
We dont typically like wasting our time by writing reviews, but Im making an exception for this one :) the stories in the game make us smile and laugh at different points, and cry at other points. Some endings are happy, others are heartbreaking, but all are beautiful and well-written. If you persevere in playing the game for months, you can build up coins and pearls and energy hearts over time. Do the events, do the cooking classes when you can. Build up points, have in reading the stories and the diary entries and the letters. Visit allies daily because you can get a pearl from visiting allies pretty often, and pearls are used for most things in the game. If you use coins for the castle lottery, do the 10 draws at once, you usually have a chance to get pearls that way too. We highly recommend this game, but be warned that in the first few days and weeks, maybe even months, it can seem pointless to continue or boring if you hit a roadblock with pearls. Just keep trying because Im telling you, these stories are SO worth it. We hope you enjoy this game as much as we have!! (In game purchases can help but are NOT necessary unless you get impatient with collecting pearls and coins!).
Some characters names are stolen from another game making it annoying. Ikemen Sengoku is where they have similar characters. Just shes not it boo.
This is a fun app, but after a few episodes it becomes shorter and we have no idea if Im on the main story. This wouldve been a great idea but now we cant seem to make ANY decisions on if we want to marry him so.
Im not sure why everyone is complaining about the price when its completely free. Its up to you if you want to speed past the chapters they give you & purchase the CGs. Everyone wants free but these people have to get paid somehow lol. All you have to do to gain free pearls is play the lottery. Anyway, amazing stories, beautiful characters. We love how they have main story at the same time as an event story or battle. Gives it a nice variety when it want a break from either events or main story. Definitely recommend! But only if you have patience.

This game was so good. The art was stunning, the storyline was beautiful, and we were completely drawn into it. We didnt find the character or home customization particularly intriguing and was just in it for the amazing story. However, to get through it, we had to spend so much money so be prepared to empty your wallets if you download this and get easily addicted to these types of games.
We really love all the characters in this game, the illustrations and dialogue are amazing. We highly recommend it, you wouldnt regret it.
Ive tried other otome apps but have yet to find any that can compare to Slbp! The art style is incredible, the stories captivating and even free to play players can participate, enjoy and win awesome prizes from special events! The developers have made the app so you can earn the items (pearls in this case) to get the premium ending(s)! Of course if your impatient (like us lol) you can always purchase pearls and chapter tickets with real money but its so refreshing that you dont have too and can still enjoy the story! On the note of purchasable items, we have to give the devs an extra pat on the back for making the price of the purchasable items reasonable!! Ive bought items on other otome apps but they are jarringly expensive for what you need and can easily become a money pit and they pale in comparison to what slbps premium content actually contains! Ill stop rambling but seriously give Slbp a try youll love it! Happy reading.
We would give it a 5 star because the story is amazing and we love it. However the fact that we have to use tickets to keep playing and it takes too much to continue playing is making us question if its worth it. Over $40 spent on one character doesnt seem right. We prefer back when you spent a set price on a character to unlock their story like $20 for one character and there were like 8 or 12 characters was brilliant. We dont mind dropping $100 or a bit more on all the characters first story arc. Spending around $200 for everything and paying around $20 per extra story when holiday hits seems like a real way to go. We really hate how we keep getting interrupted from the story. It takes away from our experience and makes us lose interest. Also the fact that we uninstall the app and lose everything seems so stupid to us. Theres a memory bank for a reason. So idk if this is worth it. The story is great but not for that price. Ill stick it out a little longer but if we have to spend more than $40 for a single character Ill stop playing.
The stories keep evolving and the rosters keep expanding.
Please go back to how you were originally when you first came out. We hate this ticket system that you guys have, its just like shall we date. We miss when we were just able to purchase the story of the character we wanted and just play it through. The stories are still amazing, but we just miss the old interface.

Im in our late twenties, and Ive played tome games for years and years. Ive had our fair share of okay games, some that kind of go all over the place, and some have been just awful. Ive been through two full routes in this game so far ( Inuchiyo first, and finished Shingen this morning). With other games we play a couple routes and then get bored because we cant connect with anyone else. So far, even in event stories, we have been 100% hooked with every character Ive witnessed. Characters that you meet in the middle of a route hook you in and have you saying, Im taking his route next! Oh wait, maybe Ill take his route next… Or maybe his… Highly recommend this otome. Im starting Genyas route now, we played an event story with him and loved it.
To resume how long Ive been playing this for… We started on our freshman year of high school now, we are a senior that has been playing this game for a long time… Ive enjoyed every single story Ive read, and if we were a able to rate it with 10 stars trust us, we would. Well, for those who say that you need to spare for money for this game… It isnt completely necessary, if you participate in the battles and special events you will be well rewarded… And youll be able to get enough pearls to spend. (Of course if you know how to save them properly) Im looking forward for more surprises!!! Love you and thank you for this wonderful game.
We sincerely love the plot and the characters. This game made us feel a variety of emotions from being happy to sad and each route will somehow tug anyones emotions. Ive sincerely loved Saizos route and his relationship with Yukimura, they are just too hilarious, haha.
After a long unwilling break from the game to deal with life, we finally return and to our baffling surprise…Masamune tells us that Kojuro and we are no longer wed!? How dare you shatter our heart like that, Masamune! pouts we will never leave you again, Kojuro! Anywho..despite that heart shattering surprise… glares at Masamune still love this game with all its loving characters and stories.
