Couldnt believe it when we found this gem on the app store. A perfectly rendered mobile version of our favourite childhood game. Couldnt have hoped for more! Thank you for bringing this to IPhone; worth every penny.
Doesnt save your progress. Continue and load are greyed out. You can only start a new game even when you save the game.
The original game is great as it always was. Just purchased it to find out that the sound doesnt work on iPad. Therefore low rating.
Simon the Sorcerer is one of the best point-and-click adventure games Ive ever played (and we think Ive played almost every one on the App Store at the time of this writing). A small portion of the voice acting is a little iffy (our only critique), but the rest is great, and Im giving it 5 stars overall because it is simply a game done right from start to finish. If youre a fan of the genre, we think youll really like it. We actually made maps with pen and paper while we played to help us figure things out, and it was a lot of fun! Highly recommend.
We have very fond memories of this game and was enjoying playing it again, but today we loaded up the game and it crashed suddenly. When we reopened the game, the save game was lost so Ive lost all of our progress and have to start all over again. Not a great experience, in our opinion.
Simon the sorcerer is a great game! This version is a very clumsy when it comes to graphic design of the new elements though. For example, the idea of using a scaler to render graphics at higher resolution is awful. The original graphics were drawn pixel by pixel to be displayed as they were created, the scaler butchers most of them! Even if a classic option is given, this should be the default, and the scaler not even included. Also, the new UI elements are high-res and do not match with the game pixelated art, making it look like a student project rather than a professional game. So, please be careful when adding new elements to existing games, as styles should match.
We are a huge fan of SCUMM VM games. It all started with Monkey Island. Then, we decided to Google SCUMM VM Games and we found a lot. One of them was Simon the Sorcerer. A couple of months later, we found out about remastered editions. We searched a few on our phone and thats when we found this game. We like the graphics and the way you can make it classic mode. Thats really all we can say. By.
We loved this game so much as a teenager. And it holds well 26 years later! This port is flawless. We played on original graphics, because we think it looks better, and way more nostalgic :).
Fun story with great monkey island sense of humor. Freezes in final chapter so you cant complete.
We were so excited when this came out, but it locks up right when you get to the end! Wait until they fix it.
