After getting and paying for a clone (The Invaders, which we highly recommend) we figured Id buy this one as well. Im happy with both! We play this, the original, when we want just a little bit more of a challenge. Im happy!!!
We like the game, very much like original arcade, but it seems to us on orig you could tap rapidly on the fire button to fire a barrage. That doesnt seem to be the case here. Maybe we are doing something wrong. Would be interesting to know if this is an emulator of orig game hardware and code, or a rewrite.
We beat space invaders first try when we down load it this game it is not a ripoff it laggy tho so that the only problem you should slow down the last invader it super fast and it goes down so it easier and harder.

Unlike other apps that drown you in ads, this arcade port just makes you purchase the game. In our opinion this is better. And the port is phenomenal. Not only is gameplay phenomenal and accurate to the arcade, but the settings allow players to re-create the experience of the arcade cabinet version they grew up with. You can seamlessly change between monotone, color, the cellophane overlay, and the original moon backdrop. You can also choose between a joystick or buttons. It even has tilt control options! We do have two small issues with the app. Using the moon backdrop option, the UFO is incorrectly colored white instead of red. Secondly, the menu could use a slight update. It is obvious that this app is a relic from the App Stores early days. That being said, they have updated the app to keep it functional and full screen unlike some older apps. We would definitely recommend this.
SO MUCH FUN to re-live this game on our phone. Beautifully designed and executed. Well worth the money. A+!

Near-perfect arcade emulation of the original game with bonus artwork and tips as well as challenging achievements. No ads, in-app purchases, or any other junk bogging it down. Only complaint is that the gyroscope and slide control options are useless except for the achievements for trying them out; we doubt anyone actually prefers them. Other developers should take notes from this app.

Excellent port. But what happened to Space Invaders: Infinity Gene? The best redo of a classic game and its not available anywhere.
Please add joystick and icade support.
Game seems fine but is a quite hard to play without being able to rotate it hoizontal.
Im so disappointed with the design of this game. The controls are slow to respond, the shooter is TERRIBLY SLOW, and it frequently knocks you out of the game entirely when you move the controller, which also frequently causes you to have your ship destroyed when you resume the game. Not happy with this purchase.
Ill be complaining to Apple and demanding a refund. Spent 4 bucks on a game that indicated it was updated for iPhone X. All they did was fill the screen with cartoony wallpaper borders on top and bottom and kept the same tiny iPhone 5 size screen for gameplay. Cheap lazy jerks, minimal effort just to say it was updated for new phones… But really it wasnt at all. WEASEL deception and makes the game totally crappy to play. Thanks for nothing and the work we have to do now requesting a refund.
This game is the definition of retro. Ducking behind shields and hiding behind aliens is so fun. Short and sweet One of the best games ever made.
We haven’t played this game on our iPhone for quite a while, so we’re not familiar with the updates that people are complaining about. We just now played it for the first time in a long time, and we found it extremely enjoyable and we have no idea why people are complaining about the updates. We found it to be flawless and reminded us of the time when we worked as a dishwasher at a bar that had this game in 1981 and we would drill a hole in a quarter and used thin fishing line to get free games. Personally, we highly recommend this app.
This port is excellent. We love that you can choose your controls however we wish there were newer levels/content like in pac-man for ios.
We don’t see the problem. Everybody keeps on complaining about the small screen size, but we remember Space Invaders on the GAMEBOY, back then the iPhone as a whole was even further out of this world than the Invaders themselves. Point is, if you are going to complain about a game made in 1978, you might want to try something else.
Please get this right, all we want is original Taito Space Invaders, big on the screen with nothing else, now the control buttons are gone and what are these big blue stripes across the screen? We are happy to give a 5 star review when this is done right, please stop being so ‘creative’ with the app and give us the classic game.
Updated this app and we got a smaller screen. These folks behind this app do not support. Theirs an old saying in our hood, what goes around comes around. How do you folks behind this app look yourselves in the mirror?

It’s good. You just need a bigger screen and a local or online leader board and it’d be awesome.
We love space invaders. This game is the classic with all the behind scenes cheat stuff. Worth every penny.
It is great ,accept its app symble is just an alien why dont you make it better. Im giving this five stars because its not like the pac man with a blue bar on the side.

When we’re playing space invaders, we feel like we’re back in the 70s and 80s. It’s a fun feeling.
This game brought back so many memories of playing with our brother this game should not be missed if your a fan of the game.
If you liked Space Invaders as a kid, you will love this game! It is perfectly recreated by the company that originally made it. You can choose different screen options that make it look like the original monochrome version or the later partial and full-color versions. We feel like we’re a kid again! Even our 9-year-old son is really enjoying it, too. There’s just something about the classics. Thanks, Taito! Go retro!
We purchased this games because we have spent much time playing this as a kid in the arcade. We like this port for a number of reasons. First, as a retro-gamer, we are particular about a game being emulated/recreated to be faithful to the original. This version of Space Invaders does this very well. We especially liked how the developer recreated the different looks with the overlays, color, and black/white. This was a nice touch. The original art, which appeared on the arcade machine are also provided. Second, we praise the developer for recreating the original feel of the controls, at least as well as could be done on a touch platform. The ship moves at the speed as it did in the arcade. Lastly, the genius of this port is also in what it did not try to do, which is try to recreate the original game, which was only several thousand kilobytes into a game that takes about 40 or 50 megabytes. Too many other ports do this and thereby lose the feel of the original. This developer kept it sweet, simple, and to the point, which is recreating the original arcade experience. A landscape option (as others have noted) would be nice, but it does not make or break the game in our opinion. It is most playable on touch devices the way it is. Our only complaint of this port is the cost. $4.99 is a bit steep in our opinion, though we guess one could argue: then why did you purchase it if you thought it was too expensive? If you really loved this game then we recommend it (even at the expensive price).
This game is awesome. If they’d just utilize the sdk available for ion’s icade support this game would be retro bliss!!!
The problem with most games on touch screen smartphones is that the controls are not as precise and easy as you would with a larger screen and controls. So don’t expect this game to be easy to control, but it is fun to have for any of you retro game fans. You can at least choose, regular joystick, drag or accelermeter controls to see which is best for you.
Just a little bit bigger on the upright size choices and add a full screen landscape mode..
We hate how people complain about the graphics IT’S FROM THE 70’S and we think it is very fun and addicting $5 is a little to much though.
Its great, we love it. But it needs a landscape option. We can’t play this too long with our fingers cramping up. We love this game, we really do, but please take this into consideration. Oh, and the pause screen freezes. Please update it. It hasnt been updated in a long time.
Love, Love, Love seeing the ’80s classics brought to the iPad in such honest interpretation. This is fun and really takes us back to a special time in our life. The ONLY thing we want (and is keeping it from being 5 stars) is iCade support. Please allow for iCade support and you have a full on winner.
We only recently found this little gem although it looks like it’s been around awhile (and not updated, for that matter). Overall a good re-creation of the game we fed our allowance to back in 1977. Sound and graphics exactly as we remember! Couple issues: – accelerometer control doesn’t work at all – something’s up with getting this on both iPhone and iPad, we finally was able to without paying twice, it shouldn’t be that hard It seems that Taito put this out and has neglected it since. C’mon guys, this is the game that MADE you. Oh, and could we get "Deluxe Space Invaders" also? Thanks.
We love this game; we played it when we were little but it would be awesome if the screen was bigger and somehow make the controls better.(Not Worth $5)
Taito refuses to update their apps whatsoever. Its sad.
We like it, just fix the controls please.
We purchased this for our IPhone based on previous reviews but we found out that you cannot hold down the Fire Button! This makes the game play significantly different than the original game and we do not like this. Could this be added Taito?!
Small screen hard to control kinda fun pauses to many times.
Is it really worth 5 bucks? No. Is it really that addictive? No. Is it absolutely stunning for iPod? No. Our recommendation would be to get Space Invaders Infinity Gene or Groove Coaster or either Bust-A-Move or Bubble Bobble Double or even Arkanoid! But this?…… Not worth a whole 5 bucks!
It’s a great game but it’s hard to see on your phone and kinda hard to play , don’t spend $5 on this game.
We’ve always loved this game. It and "Asteroids" were always our favorites, but you don’t hardly ever see them anymore. This game is fun to play but the control knob (not left and right buttons as in some pictures) does not necessarily move when you move it or as far as you move it. We think this would be better with a left button and a right button, but so far no updates have come out for the game since we’ve had it (couple of months) and we read another testimonial from another user that said they never update their game which is very sad. A game this popular and pricey should have updates IMO. Overall we gave it 3 stars for the above stated reasons.
