It’s rated 4+ and currently has 5,649+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Spelling Queen Pangrams Stand Out
App version of the popular game, with many added features like the option to play together with friends & family on your Wi-Fi!
Each 7-letter game is generated on the fly by algorithm. There are over 4000 unique 7 letter games to play!
Work your way up from Novice, to Brilliant, to Mastermind, and on to win! There are only two rules to finding words and winning the game: words must be at least 4 letters long, and words must always use the center letter.
Some games have only 10 words to find, to win the spelling game… other ones have over 50 words! Use Help to get a word count that will tell you how big the challenge is, see how many you've found, and get hints. There's now also a Game of the Day which is the same for everyone, everywhere.
Each game has at least one pangram – a word that uses all 7 of the game's individual letters. Some games have more than one!
The game's word list is a partial English dictionary of the most frequently used words that have 7 or fewer unique letters. In your game, you can customize your own personal word list! Here's how it works: if you enter a word that is in the English dictionary but is not in the game's list, you can add that new word to your own list. That new word will be included in future games, no matter which of your iCloud devices you are playing on!
This Word game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Community Insight:
This game is challenging but lots of fun. It is a great game to keep your brain stimulated while relaxing.
If you enjoy Spelling Bee from the NYT but cant get enough, this is the solution. As many games as you want and similarly sophisticated. Love it.
We love this game, but some of the words are just not words. How do they get on the list? Clicking on the definition gives No definition. Or its a proper name, like a Native American tribes name. We wish there was a way to report those words, so they could be removed.
Show whats needed to get to the next levels.
This app is a blast, playing with others on Wi-Fi is great. However, the app wont accept common words like the comparative adjective hairier, but then includes incredibly niche jargon like heme (a precursor to hemoglobin), and claims teetime is one word rather than two. If it something is going to be a spelling and vocabulary game, it could at least use improve in those things.
We enjoy the game, but after buying the game we still have constant ads like before we paid the money. We would love to have them stop or get a refund.
We gave this game a great report, but it isnt easy to report a problem. Recently it hasnt saved game progress, so each time you open, its a new game. We tried reporting it to app support but it kept saying something went wrong, try again. So alas we have to post it here.
We have been playing this app for a couple months, and today it had sounds. A noise at opening and then a drumbeat. No way to turn it off. Renders the app unuseable to us, unless we want to turn our volume on and off each time we play.
Needs lots of programming work. Too many perfectly sound words rejected or relegated to the list. Also too many funky words, some not from English language.
This is a great version of spelling be without the annoying ads and limits of the NYT version. However, it does have a glitch. Sometimes we type a word and the game says, add ____ to list, but the word is never added to the list. We type the same word over and over with the same result – word is accepted but not really added to list. Closing and restarting does not help.
This is the best of the pangram apps. Some very tough puzzles and great layout. The only drawback that keeps it from being a 5 is you cannot use the keyboard. We play on ipad with a keyboard but must tap the screen.
No rhyme or reason why many words found in dictionaries are not recognized, especially given that obscure words are accepted. Otherwise, game structure is pretty good.
Been playing for over a month now. Ive noticed over time that a) games repeat themselves. We think Im getting to the useful end of the games Ive already played. B) there are a lot of middle eastern and Asian words that, as an American, Ive never heard and are not in the average American lexicon. C) some spellings are not American English but British English. D) Many common American words are missing. Its definitely not a NYT Spelling Bee competitor. We think this game could/would be amazing if it was created by a native English speaker who was raised in the U.S., or at the very least audited by one. Since its obvious that neither are the case, we dont think the audience for this word game is Americans, but instead international players who are ESL.
Daily game has been the same pangram with a rotating letter in the center for days now. And it was this just a couple weeks ago. Very limited gameplay. Theres no way to see the solutions if you resign one of the non-daily games. Very limited app.
Tried to write the dev, but their contact form isnt working. Could be fun, but is frustrating when words that are in a proper dictionary dont work.
It would help if you used an English dictionary as a data base. Your list rejects perfectly good words and never reuses them. There are dozens of words you accept that are not even in google. Very poor imitation of NYT Spelling Bee.
This game randomly drops words you already added. Then looked at a reveal and found it dropped 5 words. We were two words away from Queen then suddenly we were 7 words from it.
This game is missing valid words while accepting nonsense words. Its awful. Yall had one job.
We love this word game. However, the developer uses a lot of British slang, not enough American slang, and sometimes place names or words not found in their own dictionary.
We really like this game. But, it doesnt accept legitimate words. For instance, today it would not accept the words lech and lecher.
Ive tested 5 or 6 games like this and Spelling Queen is by far the best.
We have been enjoying this game. It is totally accessible for the blind/visually impaired. However, it seems the most recent update has some sort of sound effects/music/drums playing in the background. As a blind user we use accessibility tools such as voiceover and this background is very distracting and conflicts with our voiceover and our listening skills. Would sure love to figure out how to turn off that background feature. As we said, a terrific FUN game to play. We have the purchased version and SO VERY MUCH worth it.
This game makes us so smart and we love it.
Spelling bee is really fun, but there are many legit words that it wont acceptexample: gallivant, crullera lot of words that end in ER. It can be frustrating at times but we still enjoy the game.
This is a great bored app – something to do when youre bored. We just wish the iOS status bar would show in the game. Its annoying that the app doesnt use the top space, but hides the status bar anyway.
Ive enjoyed this game for several months as a tool to help moderate our anxiety. So it was such a disappointment to be confronted with a hyper-partisan political ad between games! We have no problem watching ads as a trade off for free use of an app. But the political ads are a mistake.
We have been playing this app for a couple of years now and we like it a lot, but it does seem to prevent many words from being entered that truly are legitimate words in an English dictionary.
So many English words are not in this game. Its constantly not letting you play words in the dictionary end in the English language.
Enjoyed this app until an ad for plastic toy guns was showing kids the difference between a clip vs. Magazine.
We love this game after using it for the last 3 days or so. Its making us scrolls social media much less and keeping us challenged during down time when Id be bored and wasting time doom scrolling. That said, Ive played 4 games and its only recorded statistics for 2 of them. Sometimes when we leave the game and come back later it resumes and other times it resets completely and gives us a new set of letters without adding our (very impressive) stats from the game we had paused past the Mastermind level. For a competitive person like ourselves this is super disappointing but sounds like a glitch that should be fixable.
We like that it's a very clean interface (with two options, if one likes the letters to be circled or not), with no distracting flashiness / animations. A minor quibble: we play on an iPhone SE 1st generation, which has quite a small screen, and some of the UI elements are cut off at the edges. It's still playable though. Thanks for making a nice game.
Love this game. We could see spending a lot of time on this game, as we have already, it just keeps pulling you in and wanting to fully complete the level. Would recommend this to anyone who loves word games. The only suggestion we have is we personally wish there was a level system that kept track of how many levels youve completed, just a way to see your progress and how many levels youve completed fully. Just a suggestion, but we truly love this game and will continue to play for a long time.
Mostly great, but annoying when obscure words are used, but more common words are not recognized.
Is there a way to flag when a word has no definition? Im not sure how those words get added, but it lowers the integrity of the game.
Im not sure what dictionary the developer used for this but captcha and gonna arent actual words. We tried to use nougat and it wouldnt accept it. We usually exhaust our guesses and then look at the list of words that we missed. Ive been er heard of most of those. We do like the hints and knowing how many words Im trying to find though.
We love this game but we keep running into an issue where we enter a word that it wont accept, but then is on the list once we reveal it. There could be several words in one game, and its happening almost every game.
We love the concept of this game, we play the NYT game daily but its one game a day. This gives us more options but the word list is still very poor. Actual words rejected while words show up in the solution that even the very loose built in dictionary service has no definition.
Very limited list of words if your vocabulary is larger than a kindergartners, youll be bored with this game.
So much fun and a good challenge for the mind. Love it.
Its hard to beat this as the favorite pangram app. Clean and easy interface with simple but good options that customize your gameplay. Dark mode is awesome. Ruling out s words (or SNL Swords) also wonderful. As a frequent player, there is one thing we would love so much. So much! And that is being able to choose a score range for a game. There are times when we cant finish a 300+ point game. We also like lower point total games because they can be more difficult. It takes forever to find the right total for the right time (short break, morning free, etc.), we constantly have to run through new games, check that new games total, repeat. Sometimes our game play is literally only hunting for 100ish or lower points. Then our time is up and thats that. So yes this app is near perfect and we love it. But if its easy or even possible, we would be so grateful to choose new games based on a reasonable score range. (0-99, 100-199 you get it). Thanks.
Pretty great app for pangrams! Only frustration is that sometimes perfectly good dictionary/Scrabble words are not included while informal/slang words are. But the variety and ease of use is terrific. All in all, pretty great.
Found this while searching for another similar to the NYT Spelling Bee which unfortunately has only one game per day. Like this one a lot do far but… We play on an iPhone and the top of the screen is cut off. If it's designed to be played on a phone it should adjust to whatever phone is being used. Also agree about too many legit words being rejected.
-No pop up adds!! -Not limited by levels, as far as we know there is practically infinite puzzles + daily puzzles -interface options for little details purely for user preferences. -One time purchase to remove the very small banner ads at the bottom of screen. We paid the $3.17 to remove ads just because we like the app so much that we want to support the creator. :) -multiplayer option over Wi-Fi is super cool and we havent seen that in other apps like this. No need to make an account or sign up for anything.
This game is awesome! We love that you can click on help for helpful hints. Also, there is only 1 five-second ad between games. The ads dont interrupt your play like other free games. Im hooked.
We scored QUEEN twice now but stats still say 0% am we doing something wrong? Otherwise super addictive and fun.
Great puzzle if you love words. We play The NYt every morning and this is a close cousin to it. Love the fact you can play multiple games in the same day.
Just wish there was a hint option.
There needs to be a flag, label, warning sign when you enter a perfectly good word, butoops!it doesnt contain the center letter. Otherwise, the player thinks that the word isnt in the dictionary and gets irate, and writes a review grumping about the app not accepting perfectly good words, and then realizes later just what was happening, and has to re-write the review. Not that this happened to us, oh no. Really. Ive done this two or three times, and just having a note flash up saying Word does not contain center letter, and keep flashing it if you try it again, would be really helpful. Anyway, the app is pretty darned good. If youre a fan of The NY Times Spelling Bee, this is a good substitute.
It's clear that the developer is neither a native English speaker nor using any aid/freeware to pull all of the valid English words from the available letters. We played 2 games and there were more than 20 words missing from each. Not that good, imo :-( . Deleting.
Cant believe all the words it will not accept.
