It's the best Sudoku app we have ever used.
This is an older app that Ive had for nearly 10 years, have solved thousands of puzzles, and, even though its not optimized for newer phones, it still works great! No adds, no tokens, just unlimited puzzles. Love it.
We use Sudoku Magic every weekend to capture and play the Sudokus in our local, online newspaper and it works great. There is a screen that lets you verify and/or correct the app's interpretation of the screenshot image and it works great as well. It works totally as it should and we have thoroughly enjoyed it.

We like this sudoku game because all of the puzzles have a solution, even if theyre hard. Its easy to play and has a nice look.
This works pretty well. Scanning from print usually works but sometimes we have to take a photo, crop it, and recognize it from library pictures. The worst thing is having to key in the initial pencil marks . We consider this task mundane. If that feature was added we would award 5 stars. Filed this several years ago, still no automatic pencil marks. Print recognition has improved however.

We bought this app to capture Sudoku in the newspapers. This has not worked once. Different lighting, even different angles. Nada.
Not sure why version history says last update was a year ago. An update was pushed to us about a month ago. We will say this has improved the capture camera function on our iPhone. We now have about 100% success rate. Before Capturing from the newspaper was hit or miss.
The developer have been promoting "Capture Mode" they even have a video in YouTube. Our experience we tried 20 puzzle 10 from Newspapers and 10 from a sudoku book with solving results. When we try to capture them the Sudoku Magic that we owned and paid for with our iPhone 7 Plus said "Invalid Sudoku. Please amend the puzzle each time more than twenty times we have tried. Several attempts to contact the developer no reply it has been more than two weeks. Therefore please don't waste your money purchasing this game app.
Thanks for the update which fixes the problems with the latest operating system. This is the best sudoku app by far…properly constructed puzzles (symmetrical as they should be!…unlike most other apps which should not be called sudoku puzzles).
We've had, and enjoyed, Sudoku Magic for a long time. Now it won't open. We tried downloading it again, but can't. ITunes knows we own the game and only offers the "Open" option, not Download.

Straightforward, no frills, all function, and well done. The ability to 'pencil in' possibilities (an option missing in some other Sudoku apps we've tried) is much appreciated. The ability to capture a puzzle from elsewhere via camera is neat and works well. The settings option were well thought out as well (ex. Options to turn on/off incorrect number indications, selected column/row highlights, etc.). The only problem we've encountered is that the game occasionally believes that the answer to a puzzle is 1 in every box. Other than that, we have experienced no technical issues.
Amazing recognition of Sudoku puzzles + good interface to play. Thanks! This full version is better in our opinion than the lite one as you get very useful redo & undo buttons.
Wish could select difficulty by number range…hate auto solving to quickly move on to other puzzles. Other than that…Great.
The app is amazing. The side notes are an extreme help, and the undo/redo ability is one of our favorites! One problem is some puzzles are bugged and only allow "1" as an answer for every single box. Other than that, we love it.

Great game! Love the "capture" feature. Only one suggestion – wish for a way in the library to indicate which puzzles have been solved.
Endlessly different, often very challenging. We love that we can capture one out of a newspaper and not mark it up for the next person. We wonder sometimes if these are algorithmically created and sometimes reach a point of balance where you couldn't solve it without guesswork. Maybe it's just us! It happens about every 50th puzzle or so.

Puzzles don't repeat. Notation works well. Challenging puzzles at hard and extreme levels. Just finished a BUG solution. First time we've seen one in an app-based sudoku.
Does all it promises and saves paper! Great for filling a few minutes between tasks or for relaxing.
We thoroughly enjoy this app and use it every day. It has one bug that we have found that can be annoying. Occasionally, it will let you pencil in a number in a square that already has that number pre-entered in the row or column. Otherwise it is a great app.
Love the Capture feature. Would like to see "sticky" feature for entering candidates so that the same candidate could be entered into multiple cells. Perhaps a double tap to make the number "sticky"? This would change sequence from number-cell, number-cell, etc. To number-cell-cell-cell, etc. This would really speed up the game considerably. We would also like to see a "Reset Puzzle" option.
Tried all the other expert sudoku apps this is the the best of all. Many others have better UI but are not single solution. This is not perfect, but very good. Extreme puzzles don't seem that hard. Needed fixes: landscape, iPad version, better hints. Features: choice to auto fill candidates, light up all filled in cells of a number when a filled cell is selected (helps to quickly visualize crosshatch. Keep going.

We love this app. It makes sudoku very organized and very easy to understand. We like the pencil option. It assists you in the process of elimination. We would recommend this app to everyone and anyone who enjoys playing mind bending puzzles such as sudoku. ;).

It works just as promised. We've deleted our other sudoku apps because we no longer need them.
You'll have fun no matter what. The only thing we think should be changed is that the number should be out of play when you've placed them in all the correct boxes. Other than that, all smiles for this one :).
The only complaint we have is a cosmetic one. If you don't have a retina display you might not notice.
The most difficult puzzles ("Extreme") are only available in the paid version, so we upgraded. However, we have been disappointed. First, it appears that there are a limited number of starting patterns for Extreme puzzles (and they are all diagonally symmetrical). Although the numbers are filled in differently each time, the puzzles feel repetitive. Second, the difficultly level seems inconsistent. Some of the Extreme puzzles seemed only moderately hard, while some could only be completed by guessing and looking for an inconsistency. There are good features, such as the interface and the capture function, so this is a good first Sudoku app. But if you are looking for really challenging puzzles, you may find it disappointing.
Like many of the paid apps that eventually become free, this app has no support for Retina displays and looks horrible on an iPhone 4. For iPhone 4 owners we would recommend >Sudoku, a free app by Finger Arts.

Hubby and we no longer fight over who gets to do the Sunday puzzle anymore. App works great.
This is the best Su Doku app we have used. The camera capture is awesome. One thing it needs is the ability to auto-enter pencil marks.
Fantastic puzzles for a great price.
PROS: Randomly generated puzzles ensures there's a near infinite number of puzzles. Capturing a sudoku game on your camera is a little tricky. It has to take up almost the entire width of the phone, almost completely straight, and make sure there are no shadows. When it works, it's great!!! We like the rating system, seems accurate for the most part. However when you enter the extreme levels, it doesn't seem to be as accurate. A 14,087 rated puzzle is much easier than a 8,558 rated one. CONS: Needs game center support, challenge friends to a puzzle and see who completes it the fastest. Add a bigger penalty for hints for multiplayer. Ability to edit the tag for each puzzle. Ability to delete puzzles from the library. Coloring feature would be nice.(color specified square a shade of color) Highlighting feature would be nice. (selecting a 1 and all the solved 1's are highlighted or enlarged).
