Updated: we figured out how to turn the music off now we love it. We really like this version of sudoku, but we cant figure out how to turn the music off Im a silence kind of person.
Literally title. $8 is outrageous. Id pay like $3 but cmon $8. Lower it and ill pay for it hoe$.
This game has no business having this volume of ads, especially ones that make you play the game while you wait and have you exit out of the. Exact. Same. Ad. Just to get to the new game. Completely stupid.
App is great if only the handwriting recognition using apple pencil was good. You write a 5 it recognizes a 7. You write a 4 it recognizes a 7. It leads to so many mistakes lowering your score for no fault of yours. Fix handwriting recognition and this would be easily the best sudoku game out there. 5 start if handwriting recognition is fixed.
Highly recommend removing ads for the best experience. Great app, very customizable.
We find on the higher levels, we often get puzzles with no unique solution. This has been confirmed by running them through puzzle solvers after exhausting advanced techniques and spending lots of time. It kills our motivation to keep trying, because Im never sure if its actually able to be solved without a guess.
We used to love this app, but for whatever reason anytime we complete a row it doesnt show that its been completed. We dont wanna play with mistake mode, but in the old version, it would show you that you completed it correctly. We want that back.
This game is an amazing game that calms us and was a great one to help us get started in learning how to solve sudokus.
Ive lost so many points trying to insert an 8 into boxes with Apple Pencil.
Pros: way less ads than the others. The harder levels are challenging. Cons: boring. No daily challenges. No auto fill for the last few boxes.
Overall its pretty great. Its awesome to be able to write the numbers in and the puzzles are great Wish the hints explained more than just giving you the right number. Also the handwriting recognition really needs work and it accounts for at least 2 mistakes a game. There is also no undo button that l can find and that seems like a pretty basic feature.
We enjoy the game. Some ads are respectful of the silent button but others blast sound even when the silent button is clicked. VERY annoying; but it is a first world problem.
Automatic note removal ruins this game. So now we can just go along crossing off numbers without actually looking. We dont see why this would be included in classic mode. Nothing like that is possible on paper which is the attempt during classic mode. A lot of apps do this and its weird. Id give one star if it didnt get lost in other dumb reviews with one star.
This is the best implementation of Sudoku Ive ever seen. Its also beautifully designed.
The number of ads has gotten increasingly bad. You have to sit through multiple ads just to play the next game. Will be deleting from our ipad.
Play of game is very good but in the time between one game and the next, we have ads for games like Royal Match that have to be closed 3 or more times after sitting on the screen too long, or games like Solitaire Tres Peaks whose ads just sit on the screen an uncomfortably long time with no option to close it. We can decide quickly enough whether we want to download a game after seeing the ads over and over. Treat us as intelligent fans.
Fun to play. Interface is annoying because it is too easy to write a number to a square unintentionally. This gives you a free hint by telling you that number is either right or wrong. If you are attempting to solve the puzzle using logic alone this gets frustrating. It would be nice to have the option to automatically deselect a square whenever you switch modes. A switch on the screen to enable/ disable asking for confirmation before writing to a square would also help. That would allow the user to turn it off and on depending on what they are doing.
We like the app but Im running to some issues that take away from game play. The buttons dont always register our taps which make it challenging to navigate the UI. Bigger button area would be helpful. Also the ability to tweak the colors of the Themes would be great as Im color deficient and its very hard for us to see when the pencil tool is active or not in our favorite theme. Also the ability to change the color/transparency of the notes would be helpful.
We play mobile games a lot when im bored or waiting for something. Recently we wanted to start sudoku but we have a very particular way we like to play. This app is the only app we have found that: 1. Has full customization (completely free) to a detail we didnt even know we needed 2. Looks good 3. Actually listens to feedback we just want to give a huge thank you to the devs, definitely exited to see what you guys have planned in the future.
We bought this app a while ago to be able to play without ads. That has been the case until we updated the app today. However, we emailed support and in less than 20 minutes we got a response from the developer with instructions to restore our purchases in order to remove the ads. Following the instructions, the app is working again without ads.
Ive been playing your fantastic game for a few years and we love it. However, we purchased $$$ your app on our older iPad and it is ad free. We have your app on our newer iPad but its not ad free. Does we have to pay for your app to be ad free for each and every device we own.
If we are on a dark theme, or in iOS dark mode, the last thing you would think your users would want is a bright lighted screen when you press the bottom right hand + button to get to the options that used to be on the screen. One touch became three; plus a glaring screen blasting at us. Just a source of frustration right now.
Played this sudoku for years. Suddenly the app changed drastically. No warning, no intro, just different. Maybe if youre a new customer, this might be a good experience for you, but it doesnt work for us. Developer says theyre trying to get the option to bring the old style back. Well see. We really dont enjoy it, so might have a new app by the time they figure it out. By the look of reviews, Im not alone.
Ive been using this app for years and it was our favorite for Sudoku, but the recent update has been unpleasant. Previously we had unlocked every theme and had no adds. When the update happened the adds were back. Fortunately we didnt have to repay to have them removed. However, there is a big issue for us. One thing we loved about this app is we could change all the settings. We could change all the colors to best suite our needs. We cant do that anymore. We use Green Mountain theme and had all the colors set to softer shades of green. We do this because bright colors hurt our eyes and give us headaches. Now the highlight is a bright pink color and we cant change it. Ive looked at other themes and theres none that has only soft colors. This may cause us to no longer use this app.
Awful update – new numbers placing completely changes the pace of the game making it less interactive, slower and discouraging overall.
Ive paid twice to have ads removed and now they are back at an even higher price. How it that legal? This used to be our favorite version of this game but no longer.
Updated review after dev response: adding the option to change it back is great, we do really love the customization this app has, and the fact that they apparently actually listen to reviews?? Looking forward to the coming update! Original: we really dislike the new update and am desperate for the option to roll it back. All the buttons we use are hidden behind a menu that opens up with this slow little animation, and requires an additional click to close. So 3 SLOW clicks to do what we used to be able to do instantaneously. We also hate not being able to access settings from the game anymore, you have to back out all the way to the main menu.
Tl;dr. Solid app, do not like the new layout and really miss the old one. We really wish there was an option to revert to the old UI layout. This has been our go-to sudoku app for years and the changed layout is messing with our muscle memory. All of the controls that we commonly use are hidden behind an extra click and the notes button and undo button are too far from the numbers. These changes have really made it harder for us to use the app, and Ive been on it much less as a result. We really loved the old layout, and we wish it came back in some form. The new one feels like its sacrificed functionality for a clean aesthetic. The old app layout was really really good. Please bring it back somehow. We like the new home page, and the more detailed stats. It would be nice if we could see all of our stats on one page instead of having to tap through multiple tabs. Maybe bring back the single page of stats as overall tab in the stats page.
At first we didnt like it because we were so used to the previous version. But now we really enjoy the cleaner interface. As usual, your communication to our emails about ads showing up (after we paid to remove), some bugs and not liking the new layout were responded to immediately. Change is difficult – we understand why the changes were made now that Ive played with it a bit longer. Thank you as always. This is by far our favorite Sudoku game. We also really love the events and the new animated (what an awesome surprise) theme.
This was a fantastic soduko app that the developer just wrecked by changing the layout to accommodate a large rotating banner. The banner ads are so distracting we find it no longer useable.
Im fine with ads to support free versions, but does it have to be a blinking, active ad constantly right up against the numbers for the whole of game play seemingly designed to make us accidentally hit it? AND ads between the games that are sometimes quite long and hard to clear? Was excited for the new update hoping that had been finally addressed, but no! The ad during play is moved even closer to the numbers, the button to access features isnt even fully visible as its cut off at the bottom by the ads. Also, the scoring is wonky-makes no sense that entering certain numbers should be worth more since each box has the same value, the numbers in the game arent mathematical theyre just representative placeholders. Otherwise we really like the app, definitely the best Ive found so far for the closest to replicate the pen and paper experience.
Muscle memory is a thing! New layout has us all messed up after YEARS of playing this game. The pencil and restore number notes buttons have moved and the addition of the menu at the bottom now has us hitting that instead of 9 every time. The new layout for stats is frustrating as we (someone who rabidly plays this game with OCD tendencies) liked to keep track of how many on each level we had won and it was helpful seeing it all on one screen. The new stat layout just has a ton of dead space on each page. Really love this game, but really wish we hadnt updated.
Im sure someone told them to keep the game fresh, so they had to update it. Any back-end changes are welcome, of course, to make the game more robust, more random, faster, whatever. But the visual changes are completely unnecessary. We may grow to tolerate them, but we wont come to prefer them. The worst changes are re-ordering the numbers, and moving the commonly used icons into a sub-menu. We liked having the numbers 1-9; it made it easy and quick to dash through them. In a real sense, it doesnt matter, the numbers are simply symbols, and could be numbers, letters, geometric shapes, signs of the zodiac, or species of ants. (So Ill probably grow to tolerate this change.) Adding more colors or themes is fine, but please do that without screwing up MY well configured app. We had gotten the colors and formatting to be just how we liked it, and when we started the game today, everything was broken and impossible to read. Annoying because it was so unnecessary. Maybe this is our wake-up to move on from Sudoku. Maybe theres a game that doesnt require backtracking, aka guessing.
New UI updates makes the game uncomfortable to play. The pencil button feels too far from the numbers. Would be great to give the players an option or theme that allows us to use the old button layout.
Best Sudoku App before. Really great for serious players. Whats up with the stupid Poker advertisements? At a high level this is an activity of focus. Super distracting and a joke. We payed for a serious product. FYI: There are some sick videos that link to the ads. Some dude humping a girl. Come on. It just blows the vibe. High level Sudoku is not Texas Hold-em. Please include an opt out for this junk. And the old layout was better. Although we like the spacing and a few of the new features. This review is well intentioned. Lets say observations, not an attack. Thanks.
2023 UI changes are… Not good. The new "tray" just adds additional clicks to get to fundamental tools (notes/lightning) to play the game. Makes everything way more frustrating. The new "Stats" menu replaced a single screen with all stats for all difficulties in a single view with a tabbed version that wastes 90% of the screen, and doesn't include overall stats like perfect games and playtime at all. They seem to have been discarded, making "mistake" mode useless in stat tracking. Settings are the same way, adding additional clicks to settings that did not require it before. Losing the overall stats and not having a toggle for the "tray" are the biggest issues. Hope that something can be done.
We have played this game for years, and it was our favorite Sudoku app. Actually it was our go-to when we had a few minutes to kill. This new update changes the layout and feel and is not user friendly (at least for us), and we wish there was an option to go back to the previous version. We will be looking for a new app that is as easy and comfortable to use as the previous version of this one. We will delete this one as soon as we have found a new go-to that we love as much as we loved the old version of this one. Unfortunately this update is sending this game to the trash.
This recent update came with new layouts for the menus and board and its awful. We tailored our settings exactly the way we wanted and to a way that was comfortable to look at now its terrible. We understand introducing new themes but to change the layout completely was gross. There needs to be an option to go back to the previous layout because we cant look at it now.
First off, we hate the new format and there is no way to go back to the old classic style. Second we notice that you can get new themes with coins. How long before coins become in-app purchases? How long before you have to buy coins to play another round.
The pencil integration on the app is absolutely perfect! Closest to doing a puzzle on paper that we've played. Love it.
We love this app! If you have an Apple Pencil this app is great because you can write the numbers in. They also have a ton of different settings that makes it customizable for your style. We love Zen mode because its like paper and pencil except it corrects us when we make a mistake automatically. We also like how there's 5 different difficulties instead of 3.
Being able to play with our Apple Pencil is very nice. Maybe do a crossword app next? That would be awesome.

Ive tried a ton of Sudoku apps and this one checks all the boxes of what we want. If youre looking for a sudoku game that lets you enjoy sudoku and customize it to your liking, look no farther.
Love the interface, plenty of options to fine tune to our liking. We havent played this in some time, but now puzzles seem much harder, can barely get through Tough. Also, degree of difficulty can fluctuate for the same level which can be frustrating.
Best sudoku game!!! We love the color personalization options, its simple and relaxing the best app for sudoku.

We paid to remove ads a long time ago and the app is unplayable unless you do this. Its lovely if you do. We restored purchases per developer suggestion in prior reviews and now its fine.
