Theyve updated one of the greatest games (including the stellar soundtrack that we still think of today, over five years since our last playthrough), after many years where its somewhat sat untouched. Perfect time for another playthrough, we had only done the one long ago and didnt want to do it on a non-fitting screen format.

[iOS 16.4.1;iPhone XR] game must be started in correct landscape orientation then device flipped to upside down portrait mode in order to even start the game The image in the viewport stretches when device orientation is changed. The position of each tap is not correct in that stretched mode. Player can see height above (sometimes below) the playing area where some items are resting off screen. Possibly unaccounted notch?
We recently downloaded this game and so far was completely enjoying it, no issues whatsoever and it felt like a unique game environment. Unfortunately, after we updated our iPhone 11 Pro Max to the newest iOS 16, rotating our phone sideways makes the lobby screen turn into a warped stretched version of itself. We are posting this information here in hopes the devs will be made aware of the issue and can resolve it. Im unable to find or click on any in game link to report the issue due to the nature of the issue itself. We will, of course, update our Star Rating as soon as this can be fixed and the game can be played on our device again. Im super looking forward to that because it was really interesting and had a dope soundscape we were eager to further explore.
We really want to finish this game, but it’s currently unplayable on our iphone 13 pro max. When we rotate the screen, the app stretches to a really thin aspect ratio, and the touch input is not aligned correctly. We emailed throigh the website and haven’t gotten a response :( we hope this gets fixed!
Game wont open. Deleted and reinstalled with no luck. We have iPhone 12 Pro Max. No way to request refund. This is a first for us which is a shock that this game is rated so well. Game must not be supported anymore. Dont waste your money.
First time we downloaded it, we had the rotation issue. The mage was heavily pixelated. We decided to delete and try again. Rotation seems fine, but all we get is a spinning record. Nothing to start the game.
We have an M1 iPad Pro, and this game doest work on it.
Itd be a cool game if the rotation wasnt broken. Even with auto rotate locked it still rotates wrong. We’ve been waiting years. Please dont abandon this game. We cant play sideways.
This game is a somewhat short, but great adventure with great environments and an amazing soundtrack. We would totally recommend playing this game, even if it is sometimes confusing.
This is kind of the Big Lebowski of video games: its strange, has a completely unique tone, is like nothing else youve seen, and it sticks with you long after you see the end. Its the closest thing to visual poetry in game form we’ve ever seen. We still play it, years later.
Terrific pacing, great music, beautiful design. Definitely recommend using headphones.
We’ve said for years that this is the best game we’ve played. The story is so memorable, the music so perfectly synchronized, and the gameplay so simple that we keep coming back to replay it. We can highly recommend playing on an iPad as the larger screen makes the touch controls much more manageable for some people. If youre even slightly considering downloading Sword & Sworcery, this is your sign to do it.
Magical! This game is hall of fame worthy! Make a sequel or add more content!! Sorry for being greedy but thats what happens when you make games this good! Essential! We love this game but theres this bug where when we press start and it does not do anything so we cant play please fix this bug.

Metaphysically engaging, breathtaking, and intimate, sb: s&s provides an experience too idiosyncratic to express without taking the time to sit down and invest in the experience.
Seriously one of the best games that we’ve ever played. It is right up there with Final Fantasy two and three for us. Please give this game a try. The music and story are incredible. We have played it all the way through multiple times over the past few years. You wont be disappointed.

We thought all iOS games were made for the primary purpose of sucking money out of gullible people willing to pay multiple times to enjoy all a games content. Well now we’ve been proven wrong. This game is astonishing. It’s the prettiest 2D game we’ve ever played. Quite hard to believe this is 7 years old even. Buy this game.

We bought this game as a bit of a spur-of-the-moment purchase, and it turned out to be hands down our favorite game on the App Store. Its just a crazy beautiful journey of a game and we would recommend everyone plays it.

We are in love with this game. We’ve played through it 3 times throughout the last 4 years, and it has never grown old. Sure, there is not a lot of free exploration, and waiting for moon cycles can be slightly annoying. However, the fantastic story, cute moments, nostalgic art style, and absolutely incredible soundtrack by Jim Guthrie are what really give this game its depth, and truly make it a game we wont forget. The intertwinement of rhythm and battle also leads to satisfying fights, despite the slight repetitiveness. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys adventure games, it is worth the price, and will provide a peaceful, fulfilling experience.
The art is magnificent and the idea of moon phases is also very imaginative.
All other reviews spell out the positives, and we are not even an rpg guy – but wow we loved every minute of this…. Can’t believe it took us so long to buy. Seriously, probably the best soundtrack to an iOS game we’ve ever heard… So beautiful, dreamlike and moving. Works do well with the game and its gameplay.

A classic and a favorite of ours not only because its lovely and a great game, but because youre always able to revisit itwith every new iOS version so far, the developers have updated Sword & Sworcery within weeks. Love it.

If you can’t figure this game out, you don’t deserve to review it. The story, music, and gameplay are very cool and captivating. It’s not for anyone looking for flashing lights and instant gratification from alarms and dings. Probably one of the best mobile phone games we’ve ever played. A random guy who longs for games like the late SNES RPGs he grew up with highly recommends this game.
This is a short yet amazing game, at about two hours (also, @Collin, you could do this in a day, with some will power, JUST BELIEVE!)

Beautiful in concept and execution, with lush pixel art, wry humor, challenging but not impossible puzzles and battles, and Jim Guthrie’s kickass music. This is a fantastically well put together little epic that will hook you more than the average iOS title. Highly recommended!
The soundtrack is 1/2 of the game for us, and this game’s soundtrack is AMAZING. Oh, and it shines in every other aspect as well, in graphics, storyline, and game play. When we finished the game for the first time, we thought about it for days afterwards. Buy it, and support the geniuses who made this top-notch piece of entertainment.
We’ve had this game since it came out and it’s a must have for any gamers collection. The visuals and music is incredible. We would love to play it on our Apple TV so please update.
